Qui a dit que les concerts ne se déroulaient que le soir ? Le centre culturel de Lesquin l’a bien compris en proposant (quasiment) tous les samedis à 11h11 précisement un concert depuis maintenant sept ans. Une superbe occasion pour voyager vers des sonorités du monde entier, nourrir notre curiosité dans un cadre confortable, et familial. En ce 21 janvier, nous commençons ce week-end avec la venue de Nick Wheeldon & friends.

Je vous disais plus haut que ce rendez-vous se passait dans un cadre familial et ce samedi encore, le public l’aura prouvé. 11h11 précise, la salle est un doux mélanges d’âge : on aperçoit de très jeunes enfants comme des retraités. Nick Wheeldon et ses amis s’aventurent sur la scène où trône batterie, basse et guitare : le combo parfait pour un voyage vers le rock classique à l’image de Bob Dylan, Neil Young ou autre Alex Chilton.

Durant ces courtes quarante-cinq minutes, le groupe présentera quelques uns des nombreux projets de Nick Wheeldon dont son album solo Gift sorti en novembre dernier.  Les sonorités rock résonnent dans la salle, apportant une fraicheur à ce style mythique et prolifique. Sur le morceau « Neal », le chant et la guitare de Nick s’additionneront par quelques notes d’harmonica. Regard complice avec ses deux acolytes, on sent le plaisir qu’ont les musiciens de jouer. Ils y mettent leurs puissances, jusqu’à faire sauter les cordes de la guitare ! Dommage, on aurait aimé un morceau supplémentaire en rappel.

Nick Wheeldon & Friends auront nourri nos oreilles par un super moment de rock de bon matin. On vous encourage fortement à ne pas louper les autres 11h11 qui proposerons dans les prochaines semaines : post-punk italophone, blues, ukulélé swing ou même du jazz.

Who said that gigs only take place in the evening? Le centre culturel de Lesquin have understood it well by proposing (almost) every Saturday at 11:11 a.m. precisely a gig for seven years now. A great opportunity to travel towards sounds from all over the world, to feed our curiosity in a comfortable and family atmosphere. On this January 21st, we start this weekend with the coming of Nick Wheeldon and his friends.

I told you above that this meeting was a family event and this Saturday again, the public proved it. 11:11 am precisely, the room is a sweet mix of ages: we see very young children as well as retired people. Nick Wheeldon and his friends venture onto the stage where drums, bass and guitar are enthroned: the perfect combo for a trip to classic rock in the image of Bob Dylan, Neil Young or Alex Chilton.

During these short forty-five minutes, the band will present some of Nick Wheeldon‘s many projects including his album Gift released last November.  The rock sounds resonate in the room, bringing a freshness to this mythical and prolific style. On the track « Neal », Nick’s vocals and guitar are joined by few harmonica notes. With a complicit look with his two acolytes, we feel the pleasure that the musicians have to play. They put their powers there, until making jump the strings of the guitar! It’s a pity, we would have liked an additional piece as an encore.

Nick Wheeldon & Friends will have fed our ears with a great moment of early morning rock. We strongly encourage you not to miss the other 11h11 who will propose in the next weeks : italian-speaking post-punk , blues, ukulele swing or even jazz.
