Le trio niçois Hyphen Hyphen sont de retour avec un troisième album intitulé C’est la vie via Warner Music France, label Parlophone. C’est parti pour un ras-de-marée de good vibes, d’envie de danser et de joie.

Célébration du vivant, envie de bousculer les chansons surproduites, transmission d’émotion : c’est sur cette base que le trio va composer cet album qui commence en force avec le titre « Don’t Wait For Me ». Les bases dansantes du groupe viennent ici en force et nous donne envie de bouger dans tous les sens. Le morceau éponyme donne envie de déclarer à nos proches nos sentiments et arrêtez de réfléchir aux conséquences. Il faut dire que la pandémie a été une grosse prise de conscience de l’importance de l’humain, des relations pour notre bien-être et notre santé physique et mentale.  Cette pandémie a été une source d’écriture pour le groupe, et ça se ressent fortement. Une grosse vibe Lady Gaga s’abat sur cet album et les titres « Too Young » et « Lie » en sont les plus évidents pour moi. Ces deux titres mettent superbement en valeur la voix de Santa à l’instar de la reine de la pop américaine. Cette touche américaine vient peut-être du fait que le groupe s’est entouré de Glen Ballard sur l’écriture de certain morceaux (Miley Cyrus, Ringo Starr, Toto, No Doubt, Shakira, Idina Menzel…) ou de Mark « Spike » Stent au mix (Madonna, U2, Lady Gaga, Oasis, Linkin Park..).

L’album est rempli de douceur dont « Symphony » en devient l’emblème. Avec cette addition de basse douce, percussions qui s’écoulent comme des paillettes, et guitare acoustique, on voyage totalement sur ce titre. Sur « Own God », retrouvons des sonorités très année 2000 avec cette guitare imitant les riffs des groupes légendaires de pop punk. Ces influences sont totalement assumé sur le morceau « Voices In My Head » avec ses rythmiques et harmonies à la Pixies. Le titre se rapproche fortement de ce que WILLOW nous a proposé cet été avec son nouvel album.

 

Hyphen Hyphen font un retour quatre ans après leur dernier album,  très reussi embarquant avec eux le meilleur de la pop mondiale sans perdre les codes du pop-rock-punk qui ont forgé la culture musicale des membres du groupe. Cette album vous fera danser, et chanter sans problème. Le trio a reussi à se ré-inventer et à être plus créatif que jamais.

Celebration of life, desire to shake up over-produced songs, transmission of emotion: this is the basis on which the trio will compose this album which starts with the title « Don’t Wait For Me ». The dancing bases of the group come here in force and gives us desire to move in all the directions. The eponymous track makes us want to declare to our loved ones our feelings and stop thinking about the consequences. It must be said that the pandemic was a big awareness of the importance of human, relationships for our well-being and our physical and mental health.  This pandemic has been a source of writing for the band, and it is strongly felt. There is a big Lady Gaga vibe going on on this album and the tracks « Too Young » and « Lie » are the most obvious to me. These two tracks showcase Santa’s voice superbly in the manner of the American Queen of Pop. This American touch comes perhaps from the fact that the group surrounded itself with Glen Ballard on the writing of certain tracks (Miley Cyrus, Ringo Starr, Toto, No Doubt, Shakira, Idina Menzel…) or Mark « Spike » Stent on the mix (Madonna, U2, Lady Gaga, Oasis, Linkin Park…).

The album is full of sweetness of which « Symphony » becomes the emblem. With this addition of soft bass, percussions that flow like glitter, and acoustic guitar, we totally travel on this track. On « Own God », let’s find very year 2000 sounds with this guitar imitating the riffs of legendary pop punk bands. These influences are totally assumed on the track « Voices In My Head » with its rhythmics and harmonies to the Pixies. The track is very close to what WILLOW offered us this summer with his new album.

Hyphen Hyphen make a comeback four years after their last album, very successful taking with them the best of world pop without losing the codes of pop-rock-punk that have forged the musical culture of the band members. This album will make you dance, and sing without any problem. The trio managed to re-invent themselves and to be more creative than ever.
