You Me At Six ont toujours occupé une place de choix sur la scène rock anglaise. Déjà en 2012 il remplissaient Wembley Arena, une des salles mythiques anglaises, puis n’ont cessé de se renouveler d’album en album. Ils sont de retour en cette année 2023 avec leur huitième albium . Intitulé Truth Decay, cette nouvelle sortie des anglais sera disponible dès le 10 février via Underdog Records / Awal Recordings.

Les trois premiers morceaux de cet album montrent déjà que ce nouvel album du groupe anglais sera très varié. Josh Franceschi prouve que son chant est toujours un de ceux qui me touche le plus sur la scène anglaise actuelle. On retourne avec cet album à un émo rock qui a longtemps été la marque de fabrique du groupe, avant un petit détour vers quelque chose de plus pop. Cet album colle parfaitement au revival emo actuel en proposant des titres follement accrocheurs. On sent toutes les influences du groupe se mêler, du riff d’entrée de « DEEP CUTS » qu’on croirait tout droit sorti d’une chanson de Franz Ferdinand, au tubesque « God Bless The 90s Kids » qui nous renvoi tout droit à ce que toute cette époque a pu proposer musicalement. Puis arrive le single « No Future, Yeah Right », en featuring avec Rou Reynolds d’Enter Shikari. Comme à l’époque du légendaire « Bite My Tongue » deux groupes phares de la scène anglaise unissent leur force pour un morceau et encore une fois cela frappe juste.
On continue avec des titres qui vont du rock pur, à quelque chose de plus tinté électronique et jusqu’à des titres totalement emo rock avec « Traumatic Iconic » par exemple. Il y a certains morceaux de cet album qui auront clairement une place de choix lors des prochains concerts de la formation! On pense à « :mydopamine: » dont le titre sonne comme un clin d’œil à « My Heroine » de Silverstein, mais on est sur une composition plus pop rock qui une fois encore montre la variété de ce nouvel album. Si le titre « A Smile To Make You Weak(er) At The Knees » renvoi lui aux premières heures de la formation en convoquant aussi des groupes comme The X-Certs, le dernier morceau, en featuring avec la jeune chanteuse Cody Frost, fait le lien entre un groupe et une jeune génération qui a pour influence cette scène émo des années 2000-2010. Quelle belle manière de clôturer cet album avec un titre entre rock et sonorités électro qui colle parfaitement aux identités mêlées du groupe et de Cody.
You Me At Six signent avec Truth Decay un retour en force! Le groupe anglais montre qu’années après années ils ont toujours su se renouveler. Et même si cet album revient à des sonorités plus proches des premiers albums, le voyage du groupe au long de sa discographie a laissé des traces et on en ressort avec un savoureux mélange de ce que les anglais ont proposé depuis leur création en 2004. Du très bon You Me At Six! Il me tarder de retrouver le groupe sur scène en Europe!

You Me At Six have always occupied a place of choice on the English rock scene. Already in 2012 they filled Wembley Arena, one of the mythical English venues, and have never stopped renewing themselves from album to album. They are back in 2023 with their eighth album. Entitled Truth Decays, this new release from the English band will be available on February 10th via Underdog Records / Awal Recordings.
The first three tracks of this album already show that this new album of the English band will be very varied. Josh Franceschi proves that his singing is still one of the most touching on the current English scene. This album returns to the emo rock that has long been the band’s trademark, before a small diversions into something more pop. This album fits perfectly with the current emo revival by proposing insanely catchy tracks. You can feel all the influences of the band, from the opening riff of « DEEP CUTS » which sounds like it comes straight out of a Franz Ferdinand song, to the hit « God Bless The 90s Kids » which takes us straight back to what the whole era had to offer musically. Then comes the single « No Future, Yeah Right », featuring Rou Reynolds from Enter Shikari. Just like the legendary « Bite My Tongue », two of England’s leading bands join forces for one track and once again it hits home. The album continues with tracks that range from pure rock, to something more electronically tinged, to totally emo rock with « Traumatic Iconic » for example. There are some tracks on this album that will clearly have a place of choice during the band’s next concerts! One thinks of « :mydopamine: » whose title sounds like a wink to Silverstein‘s « My Heroine », but it’s a more pop rock composition which once again shows the variety of this new album. If the track « A Smile To Make You Weak(er) At The Knees » refers to the early days of the band by also summoning bands like The X-Certs, the last track, featuring the young singer Cody Frost, makes the link between a band and a young generation whose influence is the emo scene of the years 2000-2010. What a way to close this album with a track between rock and electro sounds that perfectly fits the mixed identities of the band and Cody.
You Me At Six sign with Truth Decay a strong comeback! The English band shows that year after year they have always known how to renew themselves. And even if this album comes back to sounds closer to the first albums, the band’s journey along its discography has left its mark and we come out with a tasty mix of what the English have offered since their creation in 2004. Very good You Me At Six! I can’t wait to see the band on stage in Europe!
