Le métalcore Allemand se porte à merveille, et Half Me en sont la preuve. Récemment signé chez Arising Empire, Half Me présentent ce vendredi 17 février leur nouvel opus intitulé SOMA, après avoir fait parler d’eux au travers de leur cinq premier singles déjà sorti.

L’écoute de SOMA sera explosive! Et si le titre « Wraith » nous donne envie de nous lancer dans un 2-step dès le tout début de cet album, on est directement impressionné par l’efficacité du breakdown. Christopher Zühlke au chant va très vite nous démontrer tout l’ampleur de voix dont il est capable et « Trauma Culture » en est un parfait exemple. A l’instar des groupes de nu-métal au début des années 90 dont les sonorités se retrouvent dans « Distort », Half Me vont à leur tour présenter un métalcore moderne introduisant des sonorités plus électronique, se rapprochant du métalcore de Novelists sur « Maagma Hour », ou en mettant en avant d’autres instruments comme la flûte qui apporte une sonorité indienne sur « Outbreak ». Le clavier est également un bon instrument du moderne métalcore et le featuring avec Marcus Lundqvist de thrown apporte un vrai morceau efficace.
Half Me proposent également quelques moments de calme avec deux morceaux de transitions dont le très beau « Mitternacht », orchestral permettant une parfaite introduction vers le morceau plus calme et émotionnel qu’est « Half Me ». Un vrai travail sur l’atmosphère est à souligner tout au long de cet album et « I am But A Guest In Exile » sera l’exemple le plus parlant de l’album.
On pourra compter sur Half Me dans les groupes de nu-métalcore prometteur. Chacun des musiciens est talentueux et chaque morceau est aussi envoûtant que le précédent. Cet album trouvera à coup sûr une belle place dans les top album métalcore de l’année.

German metalcore is going strong, and Half Me are the proof. Recently signed to Arising Empire, Half Me present this Friday 17 February their new opus entitled SOMA, after having made a name for themselves through their first five singles already released.
Listening to SOMA will be explosive! And if the title « Wraith » makes us want to throw ourselves into a 2-step dance from the very beginning of this album, we are immediately impressed by the efficiency of the breakdown. Christopher Zühlke on vocals will very quickly show us the extent of his voice and « Trauma Culture » is a perfect example. Like the nu-metal bands of the early 90’s whose sounds can be found in « Distort », Half Me will in turn present a modern metalcore introducing more electronic sounds, getting closer to the metalcore of Novelists on « Maagma Hour », or by putting forward other instruments like the flute which brings an Indian sound on « Outbreak ». The keyboard is also a good instrument of modern metalcore and the featuring of Marcus Lundqvist from Thrown brings a real effective track.
Half Me also offers some quiet moments with two transitional tracks including the beautiful, orchestral « Mitternacht » which is a perfect introduction to the calmer, more emotional « Half Me ». A real work on the atmosphere is to be underlined throughout this album and « I am But A Guest In Exile » will be the most telling example of the album.
Half Me can be counted among the promising nu-metalcore bands. Each of the musicians is talented and each track is as enchanting as the last. This album is sure to find a nice place in the top metalcore albums of the year.
