Après un premier album en 2017 salué par le public et la critique, les français de Worselder sont de retour cette année avec leur deuxième opus. Intitulé Redshift, il est disponible via Ellie Promotion et Season Of Mist Distribution. Je suis donc parti à la découverte de cet album.

Dès le titre « Para Bellum » les riffs de guitare de Jérémie Delattre et Yoric Oliveras frappent par leur combo puissance / mélodie imparable. La musique du groupe étant une découverte pour moi, je me laisse porter par ce mélange savoureux entre heavy métal et thrash que le groupe propose. Et en quelques minutes je suis convaincu! Le morceau d’ouverture fonctionne à merveille et donne envie de foncer vers la suite.
Les deux morceaux suivants continuent de montrer que le quintet a un vrai talent de composition, qui leur permet de mélanger les genres tout en gardant ce qui fait la force des deux. La voix de Guillaume Garnier donne un niveau de force supplémentaire aux morceaux et, lorsque Yannick Fernandez vient y ajouter la sienne on a dans nos oreilles un duo vocal de grandes qualité. D’ailleurs ce dernier envoie une ligne de basse absolument imparable dans le morceau « Absurd Heroes » et forme tout au long de l’album un duo de choc avec Michel Marcq à la batterie.
Le morceau « The Hexoteric Verses » est selon moi la plus belle démonstration de ce que le groupe propose tout au long de cet album. Peu habitué au thrash, je me retrouve pleinement dans cet album qui montre que le groupe n’a pas à rougir face aux grand noms du genre. Arrive ensuite le morceau en deux parties « Insurgents »! Le première partie instrumentale pose les bases du morceau avec douceur, et une ligne de basse impressionnante une fois encore, avant l’explostion de riffs de la deuxième partie. Le son de l’album est très morderne et le dernier titre vient clairement confirmer tout ce que j’ai pu dire ici, avec un titre encore une fois très marquant qui laisse une superbe dernière impression.
Worselder ont avec Redshit réussi à proposer un album novateur tout en restant stylistiquement identifiable par les auditeurs. Pour ma part, cet album m’a donné envie de plonger dans les précédentes sorties de la formation très rapidement. Une réussite qui vient prouver une nouvelle fois la vitalité et la qualité de la scène métal française!

After a first album in 2017 that was acclaimed by the public and the critics, the French band Worselder are back this year with their second LP. Entitled Redshift, it is available via Ellie Promotion and Season Of Mist Distribution. Here I dive into this new album:
From the title « Para Bellum » the guitar riffs of Jérémie Delattre and Yoric Oliveras strike with their unstoppable power/melody combination. The band’s music being a discovery for me, I let myself be carried away by this tasty mix between heavy metal and thrash that the band proposes. And in a few minutes I am convinced! The opening track works wonderfully and makes you want to go for the next one.
The two following tracks continue to show that the quintet has a real talent for composition, which allows them to mix the genres while keeping what makes the strength of both. Guillaume Garnier‘s voice gives an extra level of strength to the tracks and, when Yannick Fernandez adds his own, we have in our ears a vocal duo of great quality. Moreover, the latter sends an absolutely unstoppable bass line in the track « Absurd Heroes » and forms throughout the album a great duo with Michel Marcq on drums.
The track « The Hexoteric Verses » is, in my opinion, the most beautiful demonstration of what the band proposes throughout this album. I’m not used to thrash music, but I can fully relate to this album, which shows that the band has nothing to be ashamed of when compared to the big names in the genre. Then comes the two-part track « Insurgents »! The first instrumental part lays the foundations of the track with a smooth and impressive bass line once again, before the explosion of riffs in the second part. The sound of the album has a lot of bite and the last track clearly confirms everything I’ve said here, with another very striking track that leaves a great final impression.
With Redshit, Worselder have succeeded in offering an innovative album while remaining stylistically identifiable by the listeners. For my part, this album made me want to dive into the band’s previous releases very quickly. A success that proves once again the vitality and the quality of the French metal scene!
