A l’annonce de l’affiche, il était évident que nous ne pouvions pas louper cette tournée impressionnante. Au menu, la folie d’Igorrr, l’émotion d’Amenra, la puissance de Der Weg Einer Freiheit et la passion de Hangman’s Chair. Initialement prévu au Forest National, ce sera finalement dans la magnifique salle du Cirque Royal que nous aurons rendez-vous.

Ouverture des portes à 18h10, il faudra se dépêcher pour entrer dans la salle puisque Hangman’s Chair débuteront leur set à 18h15. La salle se remplira petit à petit, et en tout cas, nous, nous sommes prêt à embarquer dans leur univers autour de la solitude. Après avoir sorti l’un des meilleurs albums de 2022, A Loner, nous sommes ravi de les revoir ce soir. La puissance de leur musique nous attrappe jusqu’aux trippes. Pour cette tournée, le groupe nous fait la surprise de jouer un tout nouveau morceau, comme un petit cadeau. Chaque titre résonne en nous, chacun des musiciens est impressionnant de justesse et nous transporte avec aisance. On appréciera chaque seconde de ce set, et on applaudit également l’ingénieur lumière qui s’est emparé également des lumières du plafond de cette salle pour créer une ambiance si particulière.
Les Allemands de Der Weg Einer Freiheit prennent possession de la scène très rapidement. Leur black métal va nous envoûter complètement pour un voyage entre lumière et ténèbre, et cela dès le premier titre « Morgen », d’une force brute. La voix de Nikita Kamprad est folle de justesse, permettant de sublimer les titres à la fois de leur dernier très bon album, Noktvrn, que leurs deux opus précedents. Chaque morceau est fortement acclamé par le public et les compositions sont cadencé par ces changements de rythmes placé intelligemment. Le public est subjugué par ce set et on ressent la force hypnotique de leur musique dans les mouvements de chaque musicien.
Les concerts d’Amenra sont toujours un moment assez particulier. Ecran géant avec de magnifiques vidéos, lumière tantôt blanche, tantôt éteinte, nous nous embarquons pour un moment musical en noir et blanc. Le public est totalement captivé dès les premiers instants. Et même si Colin H. van Eeckhout fera son concert dos au public comme à son habitude, le groupe est d’une prestance folle. On est face à une messe triste d’une beauté presque mystique, que les spectateurs suivent dans un silence morbide. Lorsque silence se fait dans la salle, les riffs des guitares puissantes sont décuplés. L’émotion sera tellement forte que les larmes me viendront sur le célèbre « A Solitary Reign ». La douleur se ressent dans chaque notes produites par les musiciens, et dans chaque cris du chanteur. Les merveilleuses images de lévitation, clin d’oeil à Andrei Tarkovski, permettent à « Diaken » de clôturer ce set magistral avec beauté et émotion. Les mots « liefde en licht » viendront s’afficher sur l’écran géant pour la sortie de scène, comprenez « Amour et lumière » en français.
Changement d’ambiance désormais avec les Français d’Igorrr. Le public jusqu’ici assez calme et plein d’émotions va se transcender et commencer à bouger dans tous les sens. Igorrr sur scène, c’est un spectacle assez particulier ! Entre musique électronique accompagné des plus beaux jeux de lumières, batterie puissante, et chant vigoureux, le titre vont s’enchainer. Le groupe vient présenter le dernier album en date, Spirituality and distortion, qui est connu de tous au vue de l’ambiance et le tonnerre d’applaudissement qui accompagne chaque morceau. Gauthier Serre derrière ses platines s’éclatent comme un fou et fait une prestation musicale à la fois dansante et sombre. La force d’Igorrr se fait par ces mélanges de styles musicaux et vocaux. Marthe Alexandre sera d’une force sur les morceaux baroques dont sa voix mezzo-soprano vient sublimer. Toute nouvelle dans la formation, on la sent un peu moins à l’aise que les autres musiciens, mais elle se prêtera au jeu avec conviction et sa voix prendra le dessus. Côté voix pronfonde, on retrouve JB Le Bail pour les titres les plus death-métal, et on est toujours aussi impressionné par son charisme et sa prestance folle. Les musiciens ne sont pas en reste, puisque Martyn Clement à la guitare, et Sylvain Bouvier à la batterie apportent une réelle profondeur aux sons électroniques. Tout le monde est convaincu et passe un vrai moment de plaisir. Pari réussi !
Cette soirée a tenu toutes ses promesses. Nous aurons dansé, prié, pleuré, crié et surtout profité pendant ces quelques heures passées bien trop vite. Les quatre groupes de la soirée illustrent parfaitement la force des compositions métals sous toutes leurs formes. Et même si, personnellement je reste légérement frustrée de ne pas avoir eu le droit d’accèder au pit photo malgré le pass photo, j’ai pris tout de même un plaisir à zigzaguer dans la fosse avec mon appareil, pour saisir les beaux moments de cette soirée, et j’en ressors avec la certitude que toutes les personnes que j’ai croisé, passaient un moment unique qui va rester dans leurs mémoires longuement. J’ai une pensée pour ce quart de salle qui a suivi l’horaire écrit sur le ticket, soit 20h, et est arrivé pendant le set d’Amenra, et ont par conséquent loupé la moitié de la soirée.

When the line-up was announced, it was obvious that we couldn’t miss this impressive tour. On the menu, the madness of Igorrr, the emotion of Amenra, the power of Der Weg Einer Freiheit and the passion of Hangman’s Chair. Initially planned at the Forest National, it will finally be in the magnificent hall of the Cirque Royal that we will have an appointment.

Doors open at 6:10pm, you’ll have to hurry to enter the room because Hangman’s Chair will start their set at 6:15pm. The room will fill up little by little, and in any case, we are ready to embark in their universe around loneliness. After having released one of the best albums of 2022, A Loner, we are delighted to see them again tonight. The power of their music grabs us to the gut. For this tour, the band surprises us by playing a brand new song, like a little gift. Each title resonates in us, each of the musicians is impressive of accuracy and transports us with ease. We will appreciate every second of this set, and we also applaud the light engineer who also took over the lights of the ceiling of this room to create such a particular atmosphere.
The Germans of Der Weg Einer Freiheit take possession of the stage very quickly. Their black metal is going to bewitch us completely for a journey between light and darkness, and this from the first track « Morgen », of a raw strength. Nikita Kamprad‘s voice is insanely accurate, allowing to sublimate the tracks of both their last very good album, Noktvrn, and their two previous opuses. Each track is strongly acclaimed by the audience and the compositions are cadenced by these cleverly placed rhythm changes. The audience is captivated by this set and you can feel the hypnotic force of their music in the movements of each musician.
Amenra‘s concerts are always a very special moment. Giant screen with beautiful videos, light sometimes white, sometimes off, we embark on a musical moment in black and white. The audience is totally captivated from the first moments. And even if Colin H. van Eeckhout will do his concert with his back to the audience as usual, the band is of a crazy presence. We are in front of a sad mass of an almost mystical beauty, that the audience follows in a morbid silence. When silence is made in the room, the riffs of the powerful guitars are multiplied tenfold. The emotion will be so strong that tears will come to me on the famous « A Solitary Reign ». The pain is felt in each note produced by the musicians, and in each cry of the singer. The marvelous images of levitation, wink to Andrei Tarkovski, allow « Diaken » to close this masterly set with beauty and emotion. The words « liefde en licht » will be displayed on the giant screen for the exit of the stage, meaning « Love and light » in english.
Change of atmosphere now with the French of Igorrr. The public, until now quite calm and full of emotions, will transcend and start to move in all directions. Igorrr on stage, it’s a very special show! Between electronic music accompanied by the most beautiful light games, powerful drums, and vigorous singing, the title will follow one another. The group comes to present the last album to date, Spirituality and distortion, which is known of all with the sight of the environment and the thunder of applause which accompanies each piece. Gauthier Serre behind his turntables is having a blast and makes a musical performance that is both danceable and dark. The strength of Igorrr is made by these mixtures of musical and vocal styles. Marthe Alexandre will be of a strength on the baroque pieces whose mezzo-soprano voice comes to sublimate. New to the group, she is a little less at ease than the other musicians, but she will play the game with conviction and her voice will take over. As for the deep voice, we find JB Le Bail for the most death-metal titles, and we are still impressed by his charisma and his crazy presence. The musicians are not left out, since Martyn Clement on the guitar, and Sylvain Bouvier on the drums bring a real depth to the electronic sounds. Everyone is convinced and spends a real moment of pleasure. Successful bet!
This evening kept all its promises. We danced, prayed, cried, shouted and above all enjoyed ourselves during these few hours that went by far too quickly. The four groups of the evening illustrate perfectly the strength of metal compositions in all their forms. And even if, personally I remain slightly frustrated not to have had the right to reach the photo pit in spite of the photo pass, I took all the same a pleasure to zigzag in the pit with my camera, to seize the beautiful moments of this evening, and I leave it with the certainty that all the people whom I crossed, spent a single moment which will remain in their memories for a long time. I have a thought for this quarter of the room who followed the time written on the ticket, that is to say 8 pm, and arrived during the set of Amenra, and consequently missed half of the evening.
