Le groupe rock britannique Empyre revient avec un nouvel album en cette année 2023. Intitulé Relentless, il sera disponible le 31 mars prochain via Kscope. Après un album unplugged en 2021, que peut-on attendre du nouvel album d’Empyre?

La voix chaude de Henrik Steenholdt nous accueille dans le titre éponyme de cet album. Puis les guitares, la basse et la batterie arrivent pour un titre très influencé par le hard rock. Musicalement on sent que le groupe cherche à continuer de prouver que leur musique est faite pour les plus grandes salles du monde.

Les deux morceaux suivants confirment les premières impressions: le quatuor veux avec ses morceaux rock nous partager une palette large d’émotions. Les parties de guitares de Did Coles alternent entre moments aériens et instants de puissance, avec toujours le bon choix pour accompagner le chant de Henrik. Si parfois ce genre de musiques peut paraître répétitif, il n’en est rien ici, chaque titre apporte quelque chose de nouveau, tout en restant fidèle à la vision du groupe.

Les orchestrations magnifiques de l’intro de  « Cry Wolf » débouchent sur un titre bien énergique qui saura vous faire bouger dans votre salon. Le combo rythmique formé par Grant Hockley (basse) et Elliot Bale (batterie) s’illustre pleinement dans cette composition marquée par les changements de rythmes. Arrive ensuite l’autre single de cet album, le morceau « Hit And Run » que vous pourrez retrouver en fin d’article.

« Forget Me » est une magnifique ballade qui sera clairement reprise en chœur par le public lors des futurs concerts du groupe. On retrouve encore dans ce morceau le talent d’interprète de chaque membre de la formation, dans un titre empli d’émotions qui marque par ce mélange habile entre douceur et rock.

Trois morceaux, et trois nouvelles démonstrations de force du groupe Britannique. « Silence Screeming » et « Quiet Commotion » sont clairement des titres qui m’ont marqué et qui resteront longtemps dans ma playlist. Arrive le dernier titre de cet album, « Your Whole Life Slows », qui rassemble tout ce que le groupe a pu proposer tout au long de cet album en y ajoutant toujours cet aspect nouveau qui fait de chaque titre une pièce à part.

 

Empyre prouvent avec Relentless, qu’ils sont un groupe qui compte dans la scène rock actuelle. On n’a aucun mal à les imaginer sur les plus grandes scènes du monde avec une musique aussi qualitative. Leur point fort est clairement la variété des compositions et cette énergie qu’on ressent tout au long de l’écoute.

British rock band Empyre is back with a new album in the year 2023. Entitled Relentless, it will be available on March 31st via Kscope. After an unplugged album in 2021, what can we expect from the new Empyre album?

Henrik Steenholdt‘s warm voice welcomes us in the eponymous track of this album. Then the guitars, bass and drums come in for a very hard rock influenced track. Musically we feel that the band is trying to continue to prove that their music is made for the biggest venues in the world.

The next two tracks confirm the first impressions: the quartet wants to share with us a wide range of emotions with their rock songs. Did Coles‘ guitar parts alternate between airy and powerful moments, always with the right choice to accompany Henrik’s vocals. If sometimes this kind of music can seem repetitive, it is not the case here, each track brings something new, while remaining faithful to the vision of the band.

The beautiful orchestrations of the intro to « Cry Wolf » lead to a high-energy track that will get you moving in your living room. The rhythmic combo composed of Grant Hockley (bass) and Elliot Bale (drums) are at their best in this rhythmically changing composition. Following that is the other single from the album, « Hit And Run », which can be found at the end of this article.

« Forget Me » is a beautiful ballad that will clearly be taken up by the audience during the band’s future concerts. This song again shows the talent of each member of the band as performers, in a track full of emotions which marks by this skilful mix between softness and rock.

Three tracks, and three new demonstrations of strength from the British band. « Silence Screaming » and « Quiet Commotion » are clearly tracks that have made an impression on me and will remain on my playlist for a long time. Then comes the last track of the album, « Your Whole Life Slows », which brings together everything the band has been able to offer throughout the album, always adding that new aspect that makes each track stand out.

 

With Relentless, Empyre prove that they are a band that counts in the current rock scene. It’s not hard to imagine them playing on the biggest stages in the world with such quality music. Their strong point is clearly the variety of their compositions and the energy that you feel throughout the listening.
