Le duo Vinz et Tom compose, transforme, allie leurs idées depuis une vingtaine d’années déjà. Ils ont décidé de nous emporter cette fois-ci en voyage dans leur voiture à sillonner une route planante au travers de leur quatrième album : The Future Was Better dont la sortie est prévu ce 31 mars. Et même si la pochette fait très album de rock à la limite de la country, c’est dans un tout autre univers que nous embarquons avec The Future Was Better : beats éléctroniques, synthétiseurs additionnés à des instruments très rock.

Cet album sera dansant ! Dès les premières notes électroniques de « B-A-M-B-O-O » qui résonnent, on imagine le soleil qui se lève sur notre voyage. Au bord de notre route, on croise des gens plein d’anecdotes, divagant au grès du vent. Ce vent que l’on peut entendre sur le morceau « F-L-A-T-T-E-R » vient s’étouffer par l’arrivée des notes électroniques et ce beat dansant. Le duo ne lésine pas sur les sonorités différentes, et laisse une place de choix à chacun des instruments qu’ils utilisent. Sur « O-U-T-O-F-T-I-M-E », la basse et le synthé sont monumentaux. La voix est un instrument à part entière et le morceau « L-E-O-N » en ressortira une voix masculine très blues sur de longues notes qui résonnent.
Comme beaucoup d’albums composés sur les deux dernières années, la pandémie laissera ses marques. Avec son titre évocateur, « T-H-E-L-O-C-K-D-O-W-N » est rythmé par une batterie qui frappe périodiquement comme une montre qui tourne. Il faut dire que pendant ce confinement, le temps était notre grand marqueur : les journées passaient, cet enfermement était interminable. Les disparus apparaissaient petit à petit, et cela offre une transition vers le titre « G-H-O-S-T » et son ambiance d’orgue ! Les percussions sonnent les cloches de cette cérémonie funéraire. Notre voyage se termine au « T-E-X-A-S » où les échos des bamboos du premier titre claquent en fond.

This album will be danceable! As soon as the first electronic notes of « B-A-M-B-O-O » resound, we imagine the sun rising on our journey. Along the way, we meet people full of anecdotes, wandering in the wind. This wind that can be heard on the track « F-L-A-T-T-E-R » is choked by the arrival of electronic notes and this dancing beat. The duo does not skimp on different sounds, and leaves a place of choice to each of the instruments they use. On « O-U-T-O-F-T-I-M-E », the bass and synth are monumental. The voice is an instrument in its own right and the track « L-E-O-N » will have a very bluesy male voice on long, resonant notes.
Like many albums written over the last two years, Pandemic will leave its mark. With its evocative title, « T-H-E-L-O-C-K-D-O-W-N » is punctuated by drums that periodically strike like a ticking clock. It must be said that during this confinement, time was our great marker: the days passed, this confinement was interminable. The disappeared appeared little by little, and this offers a transition to the track « G-H-O-S-T » and its organ atmosphere! The percussion rings the bells of this funeral ceremony. Our journey ends in « T-E-X-A-S » where the echoes of the bamboos from the first track clatter in the background.
