Dans les cendres qu’ont laissé le covid-19 dans le monde la musique, on retiendra la naissance de DropDead Chaos, collectif Français composé de Boris (Betraying the Martyrs), Jacou (Black Bomb A), Baptiste (Smash Hit Combo), Nils (Sirenia), Déha (Maladie, Wolvennest…) et Renato (Trepalium, Les Tambours du Bronx). Avec déjà quatre single sorti, qui leur ont permis d’avoir une place de choix dans notre playlist, nous sommes heureux de les retrouver ce vendredi 07 avril pour la sortie de leur premier album : Underneath The Sound, via le Label at(h)ome

DropDead Chaos, c’est la fusion de plein de musiciens avec chacun leurs influences et leurs manières de composer. Dans ce chaos, la ligne directice sera la volonté de composer un album à part entière, se délectant de leurs talents respectifs et rendant hommage à la musique des années 90′ voir début 2000. Et si le premier morceau « Underneath The Sound » dont les premières notes et échos de voix nous plongent dans des sonorités folk, c’est bel et bien les sonorités métal alternatif qui vont dominer le titre. Avec un semblant de breakdown à la Falling In Reverse, on va plutôt s’échapper vers le monument qu’est KoRn sur le titre « Escape ». La basse de Jacou résonne en nous pour mettre en avant les solos de guitare. L’album est masterisé à la perfection et avoir 6 artistes sur un même son peut être vite brouillon (quoi que, ils sont combien dans les Tambours du Bronx déjà ?), dans tous les cas, le travail de HK du Vamacara Studio en offre des morceaux cohérents, clairs et impactant. Sur « Humans », on retrouve des scratchs typique du début de cette décennie, mais surtout ces riffs hyper dansant. « One Last Encore » vient titiller en nous nos souvenirs des titres de System Of A Down, il faut dire que les Arméniens/Américain nous ont habitué à ces concerts « encore » interminables depuis 10 ans. Clin d’oeil à Linkin Park avec « What I’ve Learnt » et « Black Throughts », quoi que, l’ambiance de « Gangsta’s Paradise » n’échappe pas à ce premier. Plus les morceaux avances, plus les souvenirs des mix-tapes ou autre compil fait écho en moi. Les sons sont catchy et seront repris facilement en live pour sûr. Les beats hip-hop trouvent une place de choix dans cet album, donnant à « DropDead » une ancre temporelle de plus.

DropDead Chaos vient gratter nos nostalgies d’adolescences en nous en offrant 10 morceaux inspirés de tous ces artistes qui ont forgé nos goûts musicaux. On y retrouve du SOAD, du Linkin Park, du KoRn, du Deftones, mais surtout, on y retrouve du talent ! Il faut dire que la formation n’a de chaotique que le nom tant les compositions sont cohérentes et riches.

DropDead Chaos is the fusion of many musicians with their own influences and ways of composing. In this chaos, the guideline will be the will to compose a full-fledged album, enjoying their respective talents and paying tribute to the music of the 90’s and early 2000’s. And if the first track « Underneath The Sound » whose first notes and echoes of voices plunge us into folk sounds, it is indeed the alternative metal sounds that will dominate the track. With a semblance of breakdown in the Falling In Reverse, we will rather escape towards the monument that is KoRn on the title « Escape ». Jacou’s bass resonates within us to highlight the guitar solos. The album is mastered to perfection and having 6 artists on the same sound can be quickly messy (what, how many are they in the Bronx Drums already?), in any case, the work of HK of Vamacara Studio offers coherent, clear and impacting tracks. On « Humans », we find typical scratches of the beginning of this decade, but especially these hyper dancing riffs. « One Last Encore » comes to titillate in us our memories of the titles of System Of A Down, it is necessary to say that the Armenians/Americans accustomed us to these interminable « encore » concerts since 10 years. Wink to Linkin Park with « What I’ve Learnt » and « Black Throughts », although, the atmosphere of « Gangsta’s Paradise » does not escape this first one. The more the tracks go on, the more the memories of the mix-tapes or other compilations echo in me. The sounds are catchy and will be easily covered live for sure. The hip-hop beats find a place of choice in this album, giving « DropDead » an extra temporal anchor.

 

DropDead Chaos scratches our teenage nostalgia by offering us 10 tracks inspired by all these artists who forged our musical tastes. We find some SOAD, some Linkin Park, some KoRn, some Deftones, but above all, we find some talent! It is necessary to say that the formation has of chaotic only the name so much the compositions are coherent and rich.
