En 2016 sortait le split EP The Depression Sessions avec aux commandes Thy Art Is Murder, Fit for An Autopsy et The Acacia Strain. Un EP brutal, puissant pour trois groupes majeurs de la scène. Ce vendredi 7 avril, c’est un deuxième volume qui nous est présenté via Nuclear Blast. Intitulé The Agression Sessions, il regroupera cette fois ci Fit For An Autopsy, Thy Art Is Murder et Malevolence pour un titre inédit ainsi qu’une cover pour chaque artiste.

Le deathcore est vivant et Fit For An Autopsy en sont l’un des groupes les plus marquant du style. Avec « Hellions », ils nous embarquent instantanément dans un titre plein de rage, brutal et à la hauteur des morceaux qu’ils nous proposent d’albums en albums. On est ravi par cet inédit. Thy Art Is Murder de leurs côtés sont en forme ! « Until There Is No Longer » est rapide, offre des riffs à l’image de leurs compositions habituelles, et un breakdown efficace. Dès les premières notes du morceau de Malevolence, on embarque pour un style légérement différent. La musique des anglais est reconnaissable, on retrouve ce côté deathcore mélangé à un chant très hardcore. Ils font toujours preuve de créativité et on en redemande clairement ! Ces trois inédits sont efficaces, offrent un beau moment.

Les trois prochains titres sont des reprises qui donnent fortement envie sur le papier. Fit For An Autopsy vont reprendre « Under A Serpent Sun » de At The Gates, et le son est comme un retour aux sources pour FFAA. On part ensuite pour une reprise de Cannibal Corpse : « Hammer Smashed Face » par Thy Art Is Murder, on reste assez perplexe du résultat. La grosse surprise sera la reprise de « Left Outside Alone » pour un retour dans les années 90. On en a connu des reprises de ce morceau mythique mais non, Alex Taylor ne fera pas un imitation de la voix d’Anastacia, je vous rassure. Le morceau est fun, mais ne lésinne pas sur le côté violent.

Le trio Fit For An Autopsy x Thy Art Is Murder x Malevolence nous offre un petit EP assez sympathique. Les morceaux sont loin d’être révolutionnaires, mais s’écoutent avec grand plaisir. On aime toujours autant entendre des nouveaux titres de chacun de ces groupes qui peuplent nos playlists.

In 2016 the split EP The Depression Sessions was released with Thy Art Is Murder, Fit for An Autopsy and The Acacia Strain at the controls. A brutal, powerful EP for three major bands of the scene. This Friday, April 7th, a second volume is presented to us via Nuclear Blast. Entitled The Agression Sessions, it will gather this time Fit For An Autopsy, Thy Art Is Murder and Malevolence for an unreleased track and a cover for each artist.

 

Deathcore is alive and well and Fit For An Autopsy are one of the most prominent bands in the style. With « Hellions », they instantly take us into a track full of rage, brutal and at the height of the tracks they offer us from album to album. We are delighted by this new track. Thy Art Is Murder on their side are in great shape! « Until There Is No Longer » is fast, offers riffs like their usual compositions, and an efficient breakdown. From the first notes of the Malevolence track, we embark on a slightly different style. The music of the English is recognizable, we find this deathcore side mixed with a very hardcore vocal. They always show creativity and we clearly ask for more! These three unreleased tracks are efficient and offer a nice moment.

The next three tracks are cover versions that sound great on paper. Fit For An Autopsy will cover « Under A Serpent Sun » by At The Gates, and the sound is like a return to the roots for FFAA. We then go for a Cannibal Corpse cover: « Hammer Smashed Face » by Thy Art Is Murder, and we’re still quite puzzled by the result. The big surprise is the cover of « Left Outside Alone », a return to the 90s. We’ve heard many covers of this mythical song but no, Alex Taylor won’t do an imitation of Anastacia’s voice, I assure you. The song is fun, but doesn’t skimp on the violent side.

The trio Fit For An Autopsy x Thy Art Is Murder x Malevolence offers us a nice little EP. The tracks are far from being revolutionary, but they are a pleasure to listen to. We always like to hear new tracks from each of these bands that are always in our playlists.
