Après un petit tour sur la place du marché pour se ressourcer, nous sommes en place pour le deuxième jour du BetiZfest. La déconne et la fête d’hier vont faire place aujourd’hui à des guitares beaucoup plus lourdes et des thématiques plus sombres, quoi que, on risque de bien s’amuser aussi ! Au programme, les inclassables que sont Igorrr, le joyeux thrasheux de Crisix, les mystérieux Céleste ou la puissance de Pogo Car Crash Control.

Dust Bolt

Cette deuxième journée commence avec les allemands de Dust Bolt, qui joueront devant les premiers spectateurs présents. Et on voit déjà que ce début de journée annonce de belles choses niveau fréquentation. Le groupe de thrash nous balance des riffs rapides et furieux qui feront headbanger même les plus récalcitrants. On sent vraiment qu’ils souhaitent donner le meilleur et c’est réussi! Titre après titre, le public se masse devant la scène pour attraper un bout du set. C’est énervé, énergique et diablement efficace! Le groupe quitte la scène après une trentaine de minutes qu’on a pas vu passer.

Junon

On continue avec Junon et leur post métal puissant. Les locaux de l’étape jouent fort tout en laissant une grande place à l’émotion. La voix d’Arnaud y est pour beaucoup, car il vit littéralement chacun des titres joués cette après midi. Le public du BetizFest ne s’y trompe pas et apprécie chaque instant du set du groupe de Béthune. De notre côté on prends évidemment un plaisir fou à retrouver la formation en live après les claques de fin 2021 et début 2022! Un vrai bonheur qui lance définitivement cette deuxième journée de festival.

Insanity Alert

Il est l’heure d’accueillir les autrichiens d’Insanity Alert! Le public semble ravi de les retrouver, malheureusement le crossover thrash complètement barré du groupe peine à nous convaincre. Mais les fans sont bien présents et mettent une ambiance de folie pendant tout le set! En fin de prestation le groupe entonne sur l’air de « Run To The Hills » l’efficace Run To The Pit qui sera chanté en duo avec un fan monté sur scène. Une prestation mémorable pour une très grande partie de la salle!

Hangman’s Chair

Le groupe qu’on attendait le plus est arrivé! Les quatre musiciens arrivent sur la scène au son de « An Ode To Breakdown » qui prend instantanément aux tripes! Il faut dire que les morceaux du dernier album en date, A Loner, sont pour nous de véritables classiques de la formation de l’Essonne. Le public est silencieux et profite du doom magistral proposé par le groupe. Evidemment les titres plus anciens sont également de la partie et viennent chercher nos émotions les plus profondes, tout ça avec une puissance absolument dévastatrice. La voix douce de Cédric contraste avec le jeu de batterie surpuissant de Mehdi, tandis que les riffs de Romain et Cédric se mêlent aux lignes de basse de Clément pour une émotion toujours plus brut. On ne le dira jamais assez mais Hangman’s Chair est une expérience à vivre encore et encore, et cette prestation aura clairement tenue toutes ses promesses!

Pogo Car Crash Control

La dernière fois qu’on avait assisté à la tornade P3C, c’était à La Cave Aux Poètes de Roubaix et on en avait gardé d’excellents souvenirs. Sur une scène bien plus grande, on s’attendait bien sûr à un show encore plus énergique et physique. Et c’est bien ce qu’on a eu en ce début de soirée! Le quatuor est dans une forme olympique et s’approprie totalement la scène du Palais des Grottes. Bien évidemment le groupe met en avant le très bon Fréquence Violence sorti l’an dernier, mais n’oublie pas les titres plus anciens au grand bonheur des fans présents. Les frères Pénichot, Olivier Pernot et Lola Frichet donnent tout pour nous servir ce punk rock énergique à souhaits dont ils ont le secret. Le public ne s’y trompe pas et pogote de bon coeur. Après une prestation qu’on oubliera pas de si tôt le groupe nous quitte au son de « Crève » qui nous aura permis de nous jeter à corps perdu une dernière fois dans la bataille.

Celeste

3 petites semaines après les avoir vu au Poche de Béthune, nous retrouvons Celeste et leur univers unique. Dès les premières notes de leur post-black métal, on vibre dans la noirceur de leurs compositions. Un concert de Celeste, c’est toujours une expérience! Les Lyonnais vous plongent dans la profondeur de leurs morceaux, illuminés par de simple lampes frontales. Leurs titres sont puissants, et ne fait que confirmer la place de choix que le groupe occupe dans la scène post-black Française. Une formation à ne pas manquer !

Crisix

Il est temps de découvrir en live le thrash des espagnols de Crisix! Pas fan du genre à la base, il faut reconnaître aux espagnols un talent certain pour faire bouger même les plus récalcitrants. Leurs morceaux sont incroyablement bons et donnent envie de se remuer en rythme. Les sourires sur leur visage font plaisir à voir et on se laisse porter par leurs riffs acérés.  Il est déjà plus de 23h mais le public cambrésien donne tout une fois encore, ce qui en laissera même plusieurs totalement crevés en fin de set. Pendant une petite heure, les espagnols nous ont livré de la bonne humeur, un thrash joyeux et parfaitement bien composé et des rythmiques à faire danser jusqu’au bout de la nuit. Autant vous dire qu’on a passé un super moment en leur compagnie et qu’on hésitera pas à aller les revoir lors d’un prochain passage dans la région.

Igorrr

Minuit sonne et annonce l’arrivée d’Igorrr pour une clôture de festival dantesque. On avait vu le groupe au début de leur tournée européenne en mars, ce soir c’est la dernière date. Bien évidemment Gautier Serre arrive d’abord seul sur scène puis est rejoint par ses musiciens et vocalistes. En quelques titres Marthe, nouvelle chanteuse de la formation, va clairement nous montrer qu’entre le début et la fin de la tournée, elle a parfaitement trouvé sa place au sein de la formation. Sa timidité visible il y a quelques semaines a disparu au profit d’une totale bête de scène! Quel plaisir de danser sur le  « Camel Dancefloor » ou encore profiter du « Downgrade Desert ». Comme à chaque fois, le show light colle parfaitement au jeu de scène du groupe ce qui fait du concert un show total! Les plus téméraires, ou les moins fatigués c’est selon, seront restés pour assister à cette avalanche musicale qui vient terminer de nous en mettre plein les yeux après une journée très riche en émotion musicale!

Ce deuxième jour, orienté métal, a lui aussi clairement été à la hauteur de toutes nos attentes. Encore une fois le public a répondu présent et a donné toute son énergie aux groupes présents sur le festival. On ressort de ces deux jours fatigués mais heureux d’avoir été présents et on se donne rendez-vous au Palais Des Grottes l’an prochain pour une nouvelle édition!

Encore une fois un grand merci à François pour sa confiance et sa bienveillance. Un grand merci et un grand bravo aux bénévoles, aux équipes de sécu, aux artistes, aux restaurateurs! Enfin un grand merci à toute l’orga BetiZFest pour son accueil au top!

Dust Bolt

This second day starts with the German band Dust Bolt, who will play in front of the first spectators present. And we can already see that the beginning of the day is going to be very busy. The thrash band throws down fast and furious riffs that will make even the most recalcitrant headbang. You can really feel that they want to give their best and it’s a success! Title after title, the audience masses in front of the stage to catch a piece of the set. It’s edgy, energetic and devilishly effective! The band leaves the stage after about thirty minutes that we didn’t see pass.

Junon

We continue with Junon and their powerful post metal. The locals play hard while leaving a lot of room for emotion. Arnaud’s voice has a lot to do with it, as he literally lives each of the tracks played this afternoon. The audience of the BetizFest is not mistaken and appreciates every moment of the set of the band from Bethune. On our side, we obviously take great pleasure in seeing the band live again after the slaps of late 2021 and early 2022! A real pleasure that definitely launches this second day of the festival.

Insanity Alert

It’s time to welcome the Austrian band Insanity Alert! The audience seems to be delighted to see them again, unfortunately the band’s completely crazy thrash crossover struggles to convince us. But the fans are there and put on a crazy atmosphere during the whole set! At the end of the show, the band sing the effective Run To The Pit on the tune of « Run To The Hills », which will be sung in duet with a fan on stage. A memorable performance for most of the audience!

Hangman’s Chair

The band we’ve been waiting for has arrived! The four musicians arrive on stage to the sound of « An Ode To Breakdown », which instantly takes you by surprise! It must be said that the tracks from the latest album, A Loner, are real classics from the Essonne band. The audience is silent and enjoys the masterful doom offered by the band. Of course, the older tracks are also part of the show and come to get our deepest emotions, all with an absolutely devastating power. Cedric’s soft voice contrasts with Mehdi’s overpowering drumming, while Romain and Cedric’s riffs mix with Clément’s bass lines for an ever more raw emotion. We can’t say it enough but Hangman’s Chair is an experience to be lived over and over again, and this performance clearly kept all its promises!

Pogo Car Crash Control

The last time we saw the P3C tornado, it was at La Cave Aux Poètes in Roubaix and we had great memories of it. On a much bigger stage, we expected an even more energetic and physical show. And that’s exactly what we got at the beginning of the evening! The quartet is in Olympic form and totally takes over the stage of the Palais des Grottes. Of course, the band puts forward the very good Fréquence Violence released last year, but they don’t forget the older tracks, much to the delight of the fans present. The Pénichot brothers, Olivier Pernot and Lola Frichet, give their all to serve us this energetic punk rock that they have the secret of. The audience is not mistaken and pogues heartily. After a performance that we won’t forget in a hurry, the band leaves us to the sound of « Crève » which will have allowed us to throw ourselves into the battle one last time.

Celeste

Three short weeks after seeing them at the Poche de Béthune, we find Celeste and their unique universe. From the first notes of their post-black metal, we vibrate in the darkness of their compositions. A Celeste concert is always an experience! The Lyon-based band plunges you into the depths of their songs, illuminated by simple headlamps. Their tracks are powerful, and only confirm the place of choice that Celeste occupies in the French post-black scene. A band not to be missed!

Crisix

It’s time to discover live the thrash of the Spanish band Crisix! Not a fan of the genre at first, the Spaniards have a certain talent to make even the most recalcitrant move. Their songs are incredibly good and make you want to move to the beat. The smiles on their faces are a pleasure to see and we let ourselves be carried away by their sharp riffs. It’s already past 11pm but the Cambodian audience gives it their all once again, leaving some of them totally exhausted at the end of the set. For an hour, the Spanish band delivered a good mood, a joyful and perfectly composed thrash and rhythms to make you dance until the end of the night. We had a great time with them and we will not hesitate to go and see them again when they come to the region.

Igorrr

Midnight sounds and announces the arrival of Igorrr for a dantesque festival closing. We had seen the band at the beginning of their European tour in March, tonight is the last date. Of course, Gautier Serre arrives alone on stage first, then is joined by his musicians and vocalists. In just a few songs Marthe, the band’s new singer, clearly shows us that between the beginning and the end of the tour she has found her place in the band. Her shyness, which was visible a few weeks ago, has disappeared in favour of a total stage beast! What a pleasure to dance on the « Camel Dancefloor » or to enjoy the « Downgrade Desert ». As always, the light show fits perfectly with the band’s stage performance, making the concert a total show! The most daring, or the least tired, will have stayed to attend this musical avalanche which has just finished to fill our eyes after a very rich day in musical emotion!

The second day, which was metal oriented, also clearly lived up to all our expectations. Once again, the audience responded and gave all their energy to the bands present at the festival. We came out of these two days tired but happy to have been there and we’ll see you at the Palais Des Grottes next year for a new edition!

Once again, a big thank you to François for his confidence and his benevolence. A big thank you and a big bravo to the volunteers, to the security team, to the artists, to the caterers! Finally, a big thank you to the whole BetiZFest team!
