Après un premier EP sorti début 2023, les américains de Necronomicon Ex Mortis ont décidé de continuer à se présenter au monde avec une seconde sortie! Initulé Silver Bullet, ce deuxième EP sera disponble dès le 11 août en autoproduction. Nous allons donc partir à la découverte de ce jeune groupe de death métal de Chicago.

Le début de « Crypt of the Gorilla God » nous laisse entrevoir le grand talent de batteur de Joey Ferretti, qui démarre cet EP avec des blats beats bien puissants. La voix de Craig Schmul rejoint vite la partie pour nous narrer cette histoire de civilisation ancienne où des singes vivent en société et d’une bataille sanglante entre humains et un singe géant mort-vivant. Le côté film de série B se sent pleinement et on a envie de se laisser porter par les histoires racontées dans les morceaux de ce nouvel EP. Au fil de l’écoute on remarque que les deux guitaristes, Michael Bala et Manuel Barbarà, ont chacun un jeu bien distinct , ce qui crée un véritable duo de guitares absolument immanquable. Leur death métal emporte tout sur son passage et on imagine très bien entendre ces morceaux sur scène. Après un bel interlude musical, le groupe conclut cette sortie avec l’excellent morceau titre. Encore une fois les guitaristes offrent de véritables moments de bravoure, et la section rythmique est toujours aussi impressionnante avec un Yusuf Rashid impérial à la basse.
Necronomicon Ex Mortis ont avec Silver Bullet montré qu’ils ont envie de frapper fort très rapidement. Les morceaux sont marquants et donnent envie d’en découvrir plus très vite! On espère que le public européen répondra à l’appel des américains et de leur envie de nous plonger dans des histoires horrifiques dignes des années 80. On leur souhaite le meilleur et on vous encourage à plonger dans leur univers!

After releasing their first EP at the beginning of 2023, the Americans in Necronomicon Ex Mortis have decided to continue presenting themselves to the world with a second release! Entitled Silver Bullet, this second EP will be available from 11 August as a self-produced release. So let’s get to know this young death metal band from Chicago.
The start of ‘Crypt of the Gorilla God’ gives us a glimpse of Joey Ferretti‘s great talent as a drummer, who kicks off this EP with some powerful blats beats. Craig Schmul‘s voice soon joins in, telling the story of an ancient civilisation where apes live in society and a bloody battle between humans and a giant undead ape. You can really feel the B-movie feel, and you want to be carried away by the stories told in the tracks on this new EP. As you listen to the album, you’ll notice that the two guitarists, Michael Bala and Manuel Barbarà, each have their own distinct style of playing, creating a real guitar duo that’s impossible to ignore. Their death metal takes everything in its stride, and it’s easy to imagine hearing these tracks live on stage. After a fine musical interlude, the band conclude this release with the excellent title track. Once again, the guitarists deliver some truly bravura moments, and the rhythm section is as impressive as ever, with Yusuf Rashid imperial on bass.
Necronomicon Ex Mortis have shown with Silver Bullet that they want to hit hard very quickly. The tracks are striking and make you want to discover more very quickly! We hope that European audiences will respond to the American band’s desire to plunge us into horrific tales worthy of the 80s. We wish them all the best and encourage you to dive into their universe!
