Créé en 1998, les Parisiens de Forest in Blood enchaînent les festivals et concerts depuis leur retour en 2018. Entre temps, 2 albums Pirates (2018) et Hauts et Courts (2020), la nouvelle formation assure son statut de pionnier du hardcore Trash en France. Ainsi le groupe nous offre leur 4ème album pour fêter leur 25 ans : ABYSS via Agence Davaï.

Le groupe nous fait entrer dans l’album avec “Abysses”, morceau purement instrumental. Les instruments à corde nous rappellent les musiques folk païennes faisant écho au précédent artwork d’album et direction artistique du groupe. Puis directement, pas le temps de réfléchir, on se fait attraper la veste avec l’intro de “Children of the 666”. Les sons s’enchaînent gardant la même énergie brute caractéristique du groupe. Ces derniers rendent aussi hommage à la langue Molière avec 2 titres engagés en français “ Crève” et “À la vie à la Mort” .
L’influence des groupes de NYHxC comme Hatebreed sur le groupe et surtout sur le chant d’Ellie est indéniable, tous les titres sont délivrés avec force, les guitares d’Hervé et Barth enchaînent riffs coupants et brutaux. Le coup de cœur de l’album restera le titre le plus hardcore : “Libertalia”; qui nous pousse à crowd kill la première personne qu’on peut croiser dans le métro. L’album se conclut sur “In pirates we trust” qui reste dans la même lignée de l’album et nous permet de bien terminer ce projet de 10 titres.
Forest in Blood nous gratifie de leur 3ème album post-refonte, surement pas le summer hit qu’on attendait pour le bord de la plage mais bien un projet qui nous donne l’envie d’aller s’y frotter en live, la bouteille de Trois Rivières à la main.

And now, to celebrate their 25th anniversary, the band have released their 4th album: ABYSS via Agence Davaï.

The band take us into the album with « Abysses », a purely instrumental track. The string instruments remind us of pagan folk music, echoing the band’s previous album artwork and artistic direction. Then, with no time to think, the intro to « Children of the 666 » grabs you by the scruff of the neck. The sounds follow one another with the same raw energy that is the band’s hallmark. The band also pay tribute to the French language with 2 committed tracks in French, ‘Crève’ and ‘À la vie à la Mort’.
The influence of NYHxC bands like Hatebreed on the band, and especially on Ellie’s vocals, is undeniable. All the tracks are delivered with force, and Hervé and Barth‘s guitars follow on from each other with cutting, brutal riffs. The highlight of the album is the most hardcore track, « Libertalia », which makes you want to crowd kill the first person you meet in the underground. The album concludes with « In pirates we trust », which remains in the same vein as the rest of the album and brings this 10-track project to a fitting close.
Forest in Blood give us their 3rd post-remake album, certainly not the summer hit we were waiting for by the beach, but a project that makes us want to go and rub shoulders with it live, bottle of rhum in hand.
