C’est à la Bratcave que les new-yorkais de Superbloom ont choisi Lille pour leur toute première date française. Ils viennent défendre leurs sons et leur dernier EP “Life’s a Blur”. We’re not Worthy nous ramène pour les accompagner du groupe bien local à l’instar de Wrong Man de Gand et Marmul de Lille.

La salle se remplit lentement pour accueillir les Lillois de Marmul. La machine à fumée de la Bratcave renforce l’ambiance indie punk du groupe. Les titres de leur EP Till We Meet Again (splendide cover d’ailleurs) s’enchaînent et le groupe livre une prestation pleine de mélancolie et d’émotion. Ce groupe prometteur ne souffre d’aucun reproche, il a su faire vibrer le public et lancer la soirée. Nous attendons avec impatience leur prochain album, prévu pour la fin de l’année 2023 ou le début de l’année 2024. Nous avons eu droit à un avant-goût du concert et sommes impatients de voir ce qu’il nous réserve.

Dès le début, il y a eu des problèmes techniques avec le microphone et les câbles de batterie, ce qui a retardé le début du concert mais l’a rendu versatile. Néanmoins, les Belges de Wrong Man nous ont envoyé leur deuxième et tout nouvel EP intitulé « Big Plans ». Le chant de Bjorn (Rise and Fall, Chain Reaction) a transporté le public dans une autre dimension, et il était impatient de bouger malgré les premières notes de « Wait » . L’assurance grandissante du groupe avec leur deuxième EP leur a permis d’explorer une palette de genres diversifiés, ravissant leurs fans lillois.

La soirée s’achève avec Superbloom. Le verdict est simple : tout le monde est d’accord pour dire que la hype de ce groupe est bien méritée. La camaraderie entre ces amis chevronnés est palpable, ils se taquinent et plaisantent sur scène et commémorent même l’anniversaire de leur ingénieur du son. Ils répandent de tout cœur la joie que procurent les concerts. Malgré les difficultés techniques, le groupe parvient à dégager une énergie débordante et contagieuse tout au long de son concert – c’est ça le rock’n’roll. Le groupe de quatre musiciens s’inspire de la musique grunge/rock des années 90. Cette influence est particulièrement évidente dans leur morceau “Pig”, où les sons rappellent Soundgarden jusqu’à ce que Tim commence à expérimenter la Whammy à la Morello.

Le groupe est l’un des nouveaux venus à surveiller de prêt. sur la scène rock alternatif/grunge, aux côtés de Soul Blind, Narrow Head et d’autres groupes émergents.

New Yorkers Superbloom have chosen Lille as the venue for their first ever French date, at La Bratcave. They’re here to defend their sounds and their latest EP, ‘Life’s a Blur’. We’re not Worthy are bringing back the very local band to accompany them, along with Wrong Man from Ghent and Marmul from Lille.

The venue slowly fills up to welcome Marmul from Lille. La Bratcave’s smoke machine reinforces the band’s indie punk ambience. Tracks from their EP Till We Meet Again (a splendid cover, by the way) follow one another and the band deliver a performance full of melancholy and emotion. There’s nothing to complain about with this promising band, who got the crowd going and got the evening off to a flying start. We can’t wait for their next album, due out in late 2023 or early 2024. We’ve had a sneak preview of the concert and can’t wait to see what’s in store.

Right from the start, there were technical problems with the microphone and drum cables, which delayed the start of the concert but made it versatile. Nevertheless, the Belgians of Wrong Man sent us their second and brand new EP entitled ‘Big Plans’. The vocals of Bjorn (Rise and Fall, Chain Reaction) transported the audience into another dimension, and they were eager to move despite the opening notes of ‘Wait’. The band’s growing confidence with their second EP allowed them to explore a diverse range of genres, delighting their fans in Lille.

The evening comes to a close with Superbloom. The verdict is simple: everyone agrees that this band’s hype is well deserved. The camaraderie between these seasoned friends is palpable, they tease and joke with each other on stage and even commemorate their sound engineer’s birthday. They wholeheartedly spread the joy of live performance. Despite the technical difficulties, the band manages to exude an infectious energy throughout their set – that’s rock’n’roll. The four-piece band are inspired by the grunge/rock music of the 90s. This influence is particularly evident in their track ‘Pig’, where the sounds are reminiscent of Soundgarden until Tim starts experimenting with Whammy à la Morello.

The band are one of the newcomers to the alternative/grunge rock scene to keep a close eye on, alongside Soul Blind, Narrow Head and other up-and-coming acts.
