Avec un très bon EP sorti en 2019, Two Sides of Me ont commencé à se faire un petit nom dans la scène métalcore US jusqu’à arriver à nos petites oreilles française. Ce vendredi 13 octobre, les américains nous proposent un second EP, intitulé Those Who Dream Of Nothing, toujours en autoproduction.

Belle vague d’énergie que cet EP de Two Sides of Me ! Les Américains ne sont pas là pour faire dans la dentelle. Dès les premiers instants de « Elegy », le métalcore se veut marquant et à l’instar de leur compères de Currents, Spiritbox ou encore Architects. Alors que les samples électroniques nous couvrent dans une atmosphère futuriste, notamment « Glass Bones », le son est très vite étouffé malheureusement. On retrouvera un mixing un peu plus clair sur « Life Eater ». Le point culminant de cet EP se fera avec le titre eponyme, et le breakdown monumental y est pour quelque chose. On peut souligner la force du groupe pour créer des morceaux aussi catchy que brutal.
Two Sides of Me proposent un bon moment de métalcore qui plaira au plus grand nombre. Rien de bien revolutionnaire, mais l’envie de se professionnaliser se fait ressentir. On espère pour eux le meilleur pour la suite.

With a very good EP released in 2019, Two Sides of Me have started to make a name for themselves in the US metalcore scene, and have now reached our little French ears. This Friday 13 October, the Americans are back with a second EP, entitled Those Who Dream Of Nothing, still self-produced.
What a wave of energy this EP from Two Sides of Me is! The Americans aren’t here to cut any corners. From the opening moments of ‘Elegy’, their metalcore is as striking as that of their compatriots from Currents, Spiritbox and Architects. The electronic samples on « Glass Bones », in particular, give us a futuristic atmosphere, but unfortunately the sound is soon muffled. A slightly clearer mix is found on « Life Eater ». The climax of the EP comes on the eponymous track, and the monumental breakdown has a lot to do with it. The band’s strength in creating tracks that are as catchy as they are brutal should be underlined.
Two Sides of Me offer a good moment of metalcore that will appeal to the widest possible audience. Nothing too revolutionary, but the desire to become more professional is clear. We hope the best for them in the future.
