Aujourd’hui nous partons à la découverte du groupe italien Raised By Haze! Leur premier album, intitulé Touch The Sky, est disponible dès aujourd’hui via Rockshots Records. La formation créée par Gabriele Robotti (guitare) et vite rejointe par Valentina Tesio (chant) nous propose de voyage dans son univers prog rock avec cette première sortie.

L’album démarre avec de belles orchestrations vite rejointes par la guitare de Gabriele Robotti et ses riffs énergiques. La montée en tension est constante et les autres instruments arrivent suivi par la voix. Première surprise, Valentina Tesio a une voix distinctement très différente de ce qu’on pourrait attendre d’une chanteuse prog. Son timbre ressemble plus à quelque chose qu’on pourrait trouver dans des musiques comme la soul ou le RnB, et c’est un pur plaisir d’entendre cette voix si différente dans ce genre musical. « Burn It Up » confirme l’envie du groupe de nous surprendre avec des sonorités variées qui tout en restant définitivement prog s’éloignent assez pour faire de cet album un objet musical singulier qui surprend autant qu’il convainc. Sur le titre suivant le groupe accueille une pointure de la scène prog aux claviers, Derek Sherinian ancien claviériste de Dream Theater et musicien à la carrière solo impressionnante! On retrouve là sa patte musicale dans un titre toujours aussi bluffant de maîtrise, où le musicien vient s’adapter au groupe tout en gardant son identité forte. Tout au long de l’album Leonardo Barbierato à la basse et Marco Ferraris à la batterie forment un duo rythmique inspiré qui arrive toujours à nous cueillir avec ses rythmiques toujours plus changeantes. L’énergie contenue d’un « So Hot Right Now » et ses claviers étranges ou la les guitares virevoltantes de « Good Ki » continuent de nous bluffer encore et encore. La fin d’album apporte encore son lot de surprises tout en nous laissant profiter des talents combinés des quatre artistes, avec « Prediction » qui reste comme un de nos titres favoris.
Avec Touch The Sky, Raised By Haze entrent par la grande porte! On a dans nos oreilles un mélange d’influences musicales hyper varié qui fait du bien dans un genre qui peut parfois tourner en rond. La voix unique de Valentina se mêle parfaitement aux envolées musicales, ce qui transforme l’écoute de cet album en véritable voyage auditif. Une très belle découverte qu’on vous encourage à aller faire aussi! On leur souhaite le meilleur et on espère les voir en live très très vite.

Today we’re off to discover Italian band Raised By Haze! Their debut album, Touch The Sky, is available now via Rockshots Records. The band, founded by Gabriele Robotti (guitar) and quickly joined by Valentina Tesio (vocals), are taking us on a journey into their prog-rock universe with this first release.
The album kicks off with some beautiful orchestrations, quickly joined by Gabriele Robotti‘s guitar and its energetic riffs. The tension builds steadily and the other instruments arrive, followed by the vocals. The first surprise is that Valentina Tesio‘s voice is distinctly different from what you’d expect from a prog singer. Her timbre is more akin to something you might find in music such as soul or RnB, and it’s a pure pleasure to hear such a different voice in this musical genre. « Burn It Up » confirms the band’s desire to surprise us with a variety of sounds which, while remaining definitively prog, are far enough removed to make this album a singular musical object which surprises as much as it convinces. On the next track, the band welcomes a big name from the prog scene on keyboards, Derek Sherinian, former keyboardist with Dream Theater and a musician with an impressive solo career! We find his musical touch on a track that’s as masterful as ever, where the musician adapts to the band while retaining his strong identity. Throughout the album, Leonardo Barbierato on bass and Marco Ferraris on drums form an inspired rhythmic duo that always manages to captivate us with its ever-changing rhythms. The subdued energy of « So Hot Right Now » and its strange keyboards or the twirling guitars of « Good Ki » continue to amaze us again and again. The end of the album brings its share of surprises, letting us enjoy the combined talents of the four artists, with « Prediction » being an absolute favorite of ours.
With Touch The Sky, Raised By Haze go in through the front door! We’re treated to a superbly varied mix of musical influences, which is a welcome change from a genre that can sometimes go round in circles. Valentina’s unique voice blends perfectly with the musical flights of fancy, making listening to this album a veritable auditory voyage. It’s a wonderful discovery that we encourage you to make too!
