Ce soir la tournée d’automne de Saez s’arrête au Zénith de Lille et beaucoup ont fait le déplacement pour retrouver le chanteur et poète français sur scène pour une soirée de musique pleine d’émotions. Pour cette tournée l’artiste propose deux sets bien différents. Un premier acoustique puis un autre électrique qui permettra au public de se lancer dans un pogo endiablé. Dans une salle déjà bien bouillonnante la soirée est prête à être lancée.

La lumière s’éteint et les « Damien » commencent à fuser dans la fosse. Le chanteur arrive sur scène seul et s’assois sur le canapé au centre de la scène pour démarrer ce set acoustique avec « L’Humaniste ». Les mots résonnent dans l’enceinte du Zénith comme une poésie scandée pour combattre les misères incessantes du monde qui nous entoure. Arrivent ensuite les musiciens pour les morceaux suivants. Ana Moreau rejoindra Saez sur scène pour mêler sa voix à la sienne sur les titres de l’EP Telegram, comme « Ievguenia » ou « La Beauté des Cœurs ». On entend ces paroles écrites en hommage au peuple ukrainien toujours en guerre à l’heure où nous entendons ces notes. La beauté des textes est sublimée par l’interprétation des musiciens qui mettent tout leur cœur dans la prestation. Lorsque la chanteuse se retirera, Damien n’hésitera pas à nous annoncer l’album de se compagne de scène qui sortira en fin d’année. Le public est majoritairement plongé dans ce moment suspendu mais certains oublient d’écouter et préfèrent parler entre eux, ruinant un peu l’expérience quand on se retrouve à leurs côtés. Arrivent « A Nos Amours » et » Les Meurtrières », deux des textes les plus puissants et émouvants de Damien. Difficile de retenir les larmes sur ces morceaux qui ont fait avancer nos âmes dans les moments difficiles de nos vies. Pour terminer cette première partie de la soirée, le rock fait une petite apparition vers l’épilogue de « Fin Des Mondes ».
En un peu plus d’une heure nous avons plongé une première fois dans l’univers de Saez pour un moment d’émotions fortes. On s’est remémoré la beauté de ces textes beaux à tomber. On ne pouvait rêver plus beau début de concert avec ces notes douces et déchirantes à la fois. La suite sera plus énergique mais on part se rafraichir et remettre nos âmes en place après ces instants puissants de partage.
Retour dans la salle pour un début en trombes du set rock sur « Cigarette », morceau phare de l’album J’Accuse qui sera largement représenté. Impossible de ne pas chanter ce titre qui a beaucoup tourné depuis sa sortie. Damien s’est levé et chantera avec cette voix si unique qu’on reconnaît à des kilomètres, toujours aussi vindicative sur les titres comme « Fils de France ». Le public est bien réveillé et reprends ces classiques en chœur. Arrive ensuite le désormais immanquable « Manu Dans L’Cul » qui laissera la colère du peuple présent dans la salle explosé avec en bonus un couplet de « La Chanson Du Vieux Réac » qui s’intègre parfaitement au morceau. Damien appellera d’ailleurs le Manu de son équipe pour rappeler que la chanson ne lui est pas destinée. L’énergie dans le Zénith est désormais concentrée aussi bien sur scène que dans le public, et « Marianne » ou « Pilule » ne feront que l’amplifier. Pour terminer sur des airs de fête où chaque instrument sera mis en valeur, Saez nous propose de partir sur le « Rue D’la Soif » après avoir rencontré « Bonnie ». Le public chante à tue tête et donne toute son énergie restante dans ces deux derniers titres qui sonnent comme une conclusion parfaite à ce set bien énergique.
Mais évidemment le public ne l’entend pas de cette oreille et Damien revient sur scène pour quelques titres de plus. Tout d’abord un hommage au Bataclan avec « Les Enfants Paradis » puis les classiques intemporels que sont « Putain Vous M’Aurez Plus » et « J’veux Qu’on Baise Sur Ma Tombe » qui garderont toujours leur force émotionnelle exceptionnelle. La poésie est toujours présente et on ne peux que s’en réjouir.
Après plus de deux heures et demi de concert Saez quitte la scène très largement applaudi par un public totalement acquis à sa cause. On saluera la performance incroyable des musiciens qui ont tous été en très grande forme. On quitte la salle convaincus que notre poète favori à encore des belles années devant lui, avec un public qui sera toujours présent pour le soutenir. On a vécu une belle soirée de musique avec un artiste qui a marqué nos années collège et lycée et qui arrive toujours à nous émouvoir.

Saez’s autumn tour stops off at Lille’s Zénith this evening, and many people have turned out to see the French singer and poet live on stage for an evening of emotion-packed music. For this tour, the artist offered two very different sets. The first was acoustic, followed by an electric set that saw the audience launch into a frenzied pogo. With the venue already buzzing, the evening is ready to get under way.

The lights go down and « Damien » starts blaring from the pit. The singer arrives on stage alone and sits down on the sofa in the centre of the stage to start his acoustic set with « L’Humaniste ». The words resonate throughout Le Zénith like poetry chanted to combat the incessant misery of the world around us. Then the musicians arrive for the next songs. Ana Moreau joins Saez on stage to mix her voice with his on tracks from the Telegram EP, such as « Ievguenia » and « La Beauté des Cœurs ». We hear these lyrics written as a tribute to the Ukrainian people, still at war as we hear these notes. The beauty of the lyrics is sublimated by the interpretation of the musicians, who put all their heart into their performance. When the singer retires, Damien has no hesitation in announcing the album by his stage companion, due out at the end of the year. Most of the audience were immersed in this suspended moment, but some forgot to listen and preferred to talk amongst themselves, ruining the experience a little when we found ourselves right next to them. Then came « A Nos Amours » and « Les Meurtrières », two of Damien‘s most powerful and moving songs. It’s hard to hold back the tears on these songs that have moved our souls through the difficult times of our lives. To round off the first half of the evening, rock makes a brief appearance towards the epilogue of ‘Fin Des Mondes’.
In just over an hour, we plunged into the world of Saez for the first time, for a moment of intense emotion. We were reminded of the beauty of these beautiful lyrics. We couldn’t have wished for a better start to the concert, with its soft, heart-rending notes. The rest of the concert was more energetic, but we left to cool off and put our souls back in place after these powerful moments of sharing.
Back in the room, the rock set kicks off with a bang with « Cigarette », the star track from the album J’Accuse, which will be widely performed tonight. It’s impossible not to sing along to this track, which has toured extensively since its release. Damien stands up and sings with that unique voice you can recognise from miles away, as vindictive as ever on tracks like « Fils de France ». The crowd are wide awake, singing along to the classics. Then comes the now unmissable « Manu Dans L’Cul », which will leave the anger of the people in the room exploding, with a bonus verse from « La Chanson Du Vieux Réac » which fits the song perfectly. Damien calls the Manu in his team to remind them that the song was not intended for him. The energy in Le Zénith is now concentrated both on stage and in the audience, and « Marianne » and « Pilule » will only amplify it. To end on a festive note, where every instrument has a possibility to shine, Saez invites us to set off on « Rue D’la Soif » after meeting « Bonnie ». The crowd sing along at the top of their lungs and give all their remaining energy to these last two tracks, which sound like the perfect conclusion to this high-energy set.
But the audience obviously didn’t hear it that way, and Damien returned to the stage for a few more tracks. First of all, a tribute to the Bataclan with « Les Enfants Paradis », followed by the timeless classics « Putain Vous M’Aurez Plus » and « J’veux Qu’on Baise Sur Ma Tombe », which will always retain their exceptional emotional power. The poetry is still there, and we can only rejoice.
After more than two and a half hours in concert, Saez left the stage to rapturous applause from an audience totally behind him. The musicians put in an incredible performance, all in top form. We left the venue convinced that our favourite poet still has some great years ahead of him, with an audience that will always be there to support him. We had a wonderful evening of music with an artist who left his mark on our middle and high school years and who still manages to move us.
