En 2021 sortait Wire, deuxième album du trio HORSKH, qui en plus de nous en mettre plein la vue nous faisait découvrir un groupe qui allait vite rejoindre la liste des immanquables aussi bien en studio qu’en live. En ce début d’année le groupe nous propose de découvrir son troisième album. Intitulé BODY, il sera disponible dès le 19 janvier via Wire Control. Prêts pour une plongée dans l’univers entre métal et electro du trio?

L’album s’ouvre en trombes avec « Tension », morceau déjà disponible depuis quelques mois, et on est emporté en quelques secondes dans le tourbillon musical HORSKH. Ce morceau alterne entre couplets mélodiques et refrains dévastateurs portés par des machines surpuissantes qui nous réveillent bien. Le morceau suivant nous permet de prendre pleine conscience de la versatilité vocale de Bastien Hennaut. Ce dernier partage également le maniement des machines et de la guitare avec Jordan Daverio, lui aussi en très grande forme. L’album se poursuit avec cette envie constante de nous proposer des morceaux variés mais toujours encré dans un univers ou le mélange des genres est roi.
Le morceau « XlungX » donne à Briou l’occasion de nous montrer une fois encore sa dextérité et son envie de tout casser derrière ses fûts. Quiconque à vu le groupe en live sait qu’il ne laisse rien au hasard et que son jeu est d’une force titanesque. La vision d’un corps en mouvement, en évolution est au cœur de l’album et des titres comme « Turbine ON » en sont une parfaite représentation. Le morceau est un véritable rouleau compresseur qui nous laisse avec la forte impression que le groupe a voulu retourner vers ses racines plus industrielles avec cette composition.
Il reste encore plusieurs titres à se mettre sous la dent et on sait déjà que rien ne nous sera épargné. Par exemple le très énergie « Laying Down In The Mud » nous redonne une belle occasion de remuer dans notre salon avec un rythme qu’on sait déjà parfait pour une avalanche de stroboscopes en live. Pour clore cette nouvelle sortie le groupe nous balance l’intriguant « It Spreads » avec sa voix robotique qui semble nous annoncer le futur de la formation. On en sait pas plus mais pour nous cela ressemble plus à une intro de quelque chose à venir qu’à une fin de cycle. Affaire à suivre
HORSKH nous proposent avec BODY une véritable aventure musicale dans un univers où la fusion entre les guitares et les machines est omniprésente. On ressort de l’écoute avec l’envie de se repasser les morceaux pour en déceler toutes les subtilités, mais surtout avec la confirmation que le trio est au sommet de sa forme! On a hâte de les retrouver en tournée très prochainement pour voir comment ces nouvelles compositions vont transformer l’expérience que sont les concerts du trio. Wire, the second album from the HORSKH trio, was released in 2021, and not only did it blow our minds, it also introduced us to a band who were soon to join the list of unmissable live and studio acts. Now, at the start of the new year, the band have released their third album. Entitled BODY, it will be available from 19 January via Wire Control. Are you ready to dive into the trio’s metal and electro universe?
The album opens with a bang with ‘Tension’, a track that’s already been available for a few months, and within seconds you’re swept up in the HORSKH musical whirlwind. The track alternates between melodic verses and devastating choruses, carried along by overpowering machines that give us a rousing wake-up call. The following track allows us to fully appreciate Bastien Hennaut‘s vocal versatility. He also shares the handling of machines and guitar with Jordan Daverio, who is also in top form. The album continues with this constant desire to offer us varied tracks, but always rooted in a universe where the mix of genres is king.
The track ‘XlungX’ gives Briou the opportunity to show us once again his dexterity and his desire to smash everything behind his drums. Anyone who has seen the band live will know that he leaves nothing to chance and that his playing is of titanic strength. The vision of a body in motion, evolving, is at the heart of the album, and tracks like ‘Turbine ON’ are a perfect representation of this. The track is a real steamroller, leaving us with the strong impression that the band wanted to return to their more industrial roots with this composition.
There are still several tracks left to get to grips with, and we already know that nothing will be spared. The high-energy ‘Laying Down In The Mud’, for example, gives us another opportunity to shake things up in our living rooms, with a rhythm that we already know is perfect for an avalanche of strobe lighting live on stage. To close this new release, the band throw in the intriguing ‘It Spreads’, with its robotic voice that seems to herald the band’s future. We don’t know much more about it, but to us it sounds more like an intro to something to come than the end of a cycle. We’ll wait to know the answer to that.
With BODY, HORSKH offer us a real musical adventure in a universe where the fusion between guitars and machines is omnipresent. You’ll come away wanting to play the tracks over and over again to hear all the subtleties, but above all with the confirmation that the trio are in top form! We can’t wait to see them on tour again very soon to see how these new compositions will transform the trio’s concert experience.
