Après deux albums qui ont créé un impact auprès des fans du genre, The End Machine a opéré un changement de chanteur il y a quelques mois. En effet, après le départ de Robert Mason, le groupe a ajouté à ses rangs l’un des vocalistes les plus en vue du circuit hard rock / heavy actuel en la personne de Girish Pradhan (chanteur de Girish And The Chronicles). Fort de cet ajout, le groupe qui compte aussi en ses rangs George Lynch (Dokken), Jeff Pilson (Foreigner) et Steve Brown (Trixter) a annoncé en janvier la sortie d’un troisième album, The Quantum Phase, dont la sortie est prévue ce vendredi 8 mars sur le label Frontiers Records.

L’album commence sur un riff de guitare très heavy de George Lynch sur lequel on remarque déjà une intention de proposer une production très moderne par rapport à ce qu’il a pu faire avec Dokken. L’impression se confirme bien vite, “Black Hole Extinction” est un morceau de heavy metal qui prend aux tripes, avec son lot de riffs de guitare ingénieux, un basse – batterie bien lourd, le tout étant un terrain parfait pour découvrir la voix puissante de Girish Pradhan (qu’on avait déjà eu l’occasion de découvrir en live en 2023 à La Brat Cave de Lille). L’envie de reprendre en choeurs le “Black hole extinction” du refrain n’est jamais bien loin tout au long du morceau ! “Silent Winter”, premier single révélé du nouvel album et accompagné d’un clip, vient durcir le ton avec une batterie bien rapide qui pose l’ambiance pour une guitare alternant gros riffs et mélodies jouées en arpège et une voix qui pousse aussi bien dans les aigus que de se poser dans les médiums, le tout avec une aisance évidente.
Pour un côté plus traditionnel qui rappellera facilement Deep Purple avec une intro aux élans psyché, “Hell Or High Water” se pose en incontournable de l’album. Riff groovy, batterie survitaminée, chant puissant… la recette idéale pour nous faire remuer les cheveux ! On peut aussi retrouver des influences plus bluesy et une voix plus dans la retenu à certains moments sur le titre “Burning Man”, qui au travers d’une power ballade, nous dévoile tous les talents du groupe pour composer des morceaux variés et entrainants qui laissent une empreinte en tête ! “Hunted” atteste une fois de plus de la volonté du groupe de proposer des sonorités modernes, le tout à travers un morceau qui nous plonge directement dans une ambiance post-apocalyptique / horrifique.
L’album se clôture sur plus de légèreté avec “Into The Blazing Sun”, seul morceau de l’album en dessous des quatre minutes, avec un riff qui va à l’essentiel et dans un esprit très glam, et la voix lead et les choeurs qui viennent tous chanter à l’unisson “Take a look around, take a look around” qu’on scande nous aussi instantanément !
Ce troisième album de The End Machine vient confirmer les attentes des fans de la première heure en démontrant la capacité du groupe à proposer des compositions variées qui utilisent ce qui se fait de mieux en heavy metal tout en y apportant des sonorités plus modernes. C’est aussi une véritable opportunité de mettre en avant les capacités vocales de Girish Pradhan dans un nouveau projet, et il y à fort à parier qu’on entendra énormément parler du chanteur dans les années à venir. After two albums that made an impact with fans of the genre, The End Machine made a change of singer a few months ago. Following the departure of Robert Mason, the band added one of the most prominent vocalists on the current hard rock/heavy metal circuit in Girish Pradhan (lead singer of Girish And The Chronicles). With this addition, the band, which also includes George Lynch (Dokken), Jeff Pilson (Foreigner) and Steve Brown (Trixter), announced in January the release of a third album, The Quantum Phase, due out this March 8th on Frontiers Records.
The album begins with a very heavy guitar riff from George Lynch, on which we can already see his intention to offer a very modern production compared to what he was able to do with Dokken. The impression is quickly confirmed, ‘Black Hole Extinction’ is a piece of heavy metal that goes straight to the gut, with its share of ingenious guitar riffs, heavy bass and drums, the whole being the perfect ground to discover the powerful voice of Girish Pradhan (who we already had the opportunity to discover live in 2023 at La Brat Cave in Lille). The urge to sing along to the chorus of « Black hole extinction » is never far away throughout the track! « Silent Winter », the first single to be unveiled from the new album and accompanied by a video clip, sets the tone with fast drums that set the mood for a guitar that alternates big riffs and melodies played in arpeggio, and a voice that pushes as well in the highs as in the mids, all with obvious ease.
For a more traditional feel, easily reminiscent of Deep Purple with its psychedelic intro, « Hell Or High Water » is the must-have track on the album. Groovy riffs, supercharged drums, powerful vocals… the perfect recipe to get your hair moving! You’ll also find more bluesy influences and a more restrained voice at times on « Burning Man », a power ballad that reveals the band’s talent for composing varied, catchy tracks that leave an indelible mark on your head! « Hunted » proves once again the band’s desire to offer modern sounds, with a track that plunges us straight into a post-apocalyptic/horrific atmosphere.
The album closes on a lighter note with « Into The Blazing Sun », the only track on the album under four minutes, with a riff that goes straight to the heart of the matter in a very glam spirit, and the lead vocals and backing vocals all singing in unison « Take a look around, take a look around » that we too chant instantly!
This third album from The End Machine confirms the expectations of long-time fans, demonstrating the band’s ability to offer varied compositions that use the best of heavy metal while bringing in more modern sounds. It’s also a real opportunity to showcase Girish Pradhan‘s vocal abilities in a new project, and it’s a safe bet that we’ll be hearing a lot more from the singer in the years to come.
