La petite reine du post métal qu’est Sylvaine sort ce vendredi 22 mars son tout nouvel EP, intitulé Eg Er Framand, via Season of Mist. Un pur moment de poésie, retraçant un retour dans ses origines Norvégiennes, et sublimer par un enregistrement fait dans l’église Kampen Church d’Oslo.

Sylvaine a toujours eu cette force de composer des titres d’une beauté folle, comme une introspection vers la force de notre existence. Sa sublime voix vient porter chaque titre. Tantôt accompagné d’un orgue, tantôt d’une guitare folk, on est instantanément plongé dans cette église glaciale où elle a enregistré cet EP. On entends clairement sa voix résonner dans cette enceinte, prolongeant chacune des paroles. Le désespoir prends vie sur « Eg Veit I Himmelrik Ei Borg » pour une bataille dans des émotions complexes. Le folklore Norvégiens se dessine, emportant avec lui néophyte ou non. C’est avec une intensité indescriptible que le titre éponyme « Eg Er Framand » représentera le plus ce que Kathrine Shepard a toujours reussi à faire avec Sylvaine. Avec seul sa voix en tant qu’instrument, la messe est dite.
Avec un EP beaucoup plus aérien, moins branché sur secteur, au plus proche de la nature, Sylvaine revient aux sources de la culture et du folklore norvégien. Laissez vous porter par sa voix sublime, les émotions vont vous rattraper sans que vous ne vous en rendiez compte.

This March 22nd, Sylvaine, the little queen of post-metal, releases her brand new EP, Eg Er Framand, via Season of Mist. A pure moment of poetry, tracing a return to her Norwegian origins, and sublimated by a recording made in Oslo’s Kampen Church.
Sylvaine‘s strength has always been her ability to compose wildly beautiful songs, like an introspection into the strength of our existence. Her sublime voice carries each track. Sometimes accompanied by an organ, sometimes by a folk guitar, we’re instantly immersed in the chilly church where she recorded this EP. You can clearly hear her voice resonating within the enclosure, extending each lyric. Despair comes to life on « Eg Veit I Himmelrik Ei Borg » as we battle through complex emotions. Norwegian folklore takes shape, taking with it neophyte or not. The eponymous track « Eg Er Framand » represents with indescribable intensity what Kathrine Shepard has always achieved with Sylvaine. With only her voice as an instrument, the die is cast.
With an EP that’s much more ethereal, less plugged-in and closer to nature, Sylvaine returns to the roots of Norwegian culture and folklore. Let yourself be carried away by her sublime voice, and the emotions will catch up with you before you know it.
