En ce mercredi 3 avril, c’est en direction d’Anvers qu’une partie de l’équipe se rend pour y retrouver un groupe qui nous fait vibrer depuis de nombreuses années, Casey! Après s’être arrêtés quelques années, le groupe est revenu avec en nouvel album sorti en tout début d’année. Pour les accompagner ils ont choisi les anglais de Mouth Culture. C’est donc au Club du Trix que nous nous retrouvons pour ce concert qui s’annonce riche en émotions.

Les lumières s’éteignent et Mouth Culture débarquent sur la scène avec leur morceau « Skarkbait » qui nous lance dans une petite tornade de rock bien émo comme on aime et qui nous fait replonger instantanément dans notre adolescence. On découvre le groupe ce soir et on accroche très vite à leurs morceaux énergiques qui donnent au chanteur l’occasion de bouger dans tous les sens sur scène pour nous faire vivre pleinement les compositions. Au premier rang des fans du groupe sont présents et reprennent les paroles de « Honey » ou « Sunny Smile » avec un entrain non dissimulé! Plus le set avance plus nous sommes ravis de par ce qui se déroule devant nos yeux, il faut dire que les morceaux du groupe anglais sont particulèrement entêtants. « Again » annonce déjà malheureusement la fin proche de cette performance énergique et c’est avec « Cherry » que le groupe quitte la scène du Trix en ayant réussi à captiver le public présent avec des morceaux très réussis portés par des musiciens en grande forme. On ne peut que vous conseiller de vous pencher sur leurs sorties et suivre leurs prochaines dates en Europe de près, en tout cas c’est ce qu’on fera de notre côté!
Il est temps de retrouver les gallois de Casey sur scène qui nous lancent dans leur morceaux très mélodiques et mélancolique avec « Punture Wounds To Heaven » qui nous montre d’entée que Tom Weaver n’a rien perdu de sa capacité à nous émouvoir avec son chant. Le plaisir de retrouver le quintet est total et son sent très rapidement que le public belge est ravi de revoir le groupe sur scène après l’arrêt de leur carrière en 2019, puis leur retour l’an dernier à la surprise générale. Le groupe présentera évidemment des titres de How To Disappear, mais n’oubliera évidemment pas les classiques de la discographie en deuxième partie de concert qui seront repris en chœur par toute la salle. Quel bonheur de voir les deux guitaristes Liam Torrance et Toby Evans nous jouer les riffs de pépites comme « Great Grief » ou « I Was Happy When You Died ». C’est sur le morceau titre du dernier album que le retour sur les derniers titres se clôt en beauté. Mais le groupe est loin d’en avoir fini avec nous et nous lance dans le retour en arrière avec l’excellent « & » avant de faire monter les larmes avec « Bruise » et « Happy ». Là encore Tom est au sommet de son art, tout comme le duo rythmique mené par Max Nicolaï à la batterie et Adam Smith à la basse. On reprend avec joie ces paroles qui nous font tant vibrer depuis des années et on est absolument comblés par le retour de « Ceremony » sur la setlist! On sent que la soirée est sur le point de se terminer, mais il reste quelques petites merveille musicales à se mettre sous la dent. « Fade » puis « Haze » et « Little Bird » s’enchaînent et permettent au public de donner encore une belle dose d’amour aux gallois tout en étant émus aux larmes par la puissance des textes et de la musique de la formation. C’est largement applaudis que le groupe quitte la scène du Trix en remerciant le public pour son accueil si chaleureux et pour son soutien sans faille depuis tant d’années. On espère les retrouver au plus vite tant leur musique est un plaisir infini pour nos oreilles et leurs textes de pures pépites de songwriting. On a encore vécu une belle soirée dans une de nos salles favorites et on est prêts à remettre ça très bientôt!
On this Wednesday, part of the team heads to Antwerp to meet up with Casey, a band that has been thrilling us for many years! After taking a break for a few years, the band is back with a new album, released at the very beginning of the year. To accompany them, they’ve chosen the English band Mouth Culture. So it’s back to the Club du Trix for this concert, which promises to be rich in emotion.

The lights go down and Mouth Culture take to the stage with their track « Skarkbait », launching us into a little tornado of emo rock just the way we like it, and taking us instantly back to our teenage years. We’re discovering the band tonight, and we’re quickly hooked on their energetic songs, which give the singer the opportunity to move in all directions on stage to bring the compositions to life. Fans of the band are present in the front row, singing along to « Honey » and « Sunny Smile » with undisguised gusto! The more the set progresses, the more we’re delighted by what’s unfolding before our eyes, and it has to be said that the English band’s songs are particularly heady. Unfortunately, « Again » already heralds the imminent end of this energetic performance, and it’s with « Cherry » that the band leave the Trix stage, having succeeded in captivating the audience present with a series of very successful songs, carried by musicians in great form. We can only advise you to check out their new releases and follow their upcoming European dates closely, at least that’s what we’ll be doing!
It’s time for the Welsh band Casey to take to the stage again, launching us into their melodic, melancholy songs with « Punture Wounds To Heaven », which shows that Tom Weaver has lost none of his ability to move us with his vocals. The pleasure of reuniting with the quintet is total, and you can quickly sense that the Belgian audience is delighted to see the band back on stage after their career ended in 2019, and their return last year to general surprise. Of course, the band will be performing tracks from How To Disappear, but they won’t be forgetting the classics from their discography in the second half of the concert, which will be taken up in chorus by the whole room. What a pleasure to see guitarists Liam Torrance and Toby Evans riffing on nuggets such as « Great Grief » and « I Was Happy When You Died ». It’s on the morceua from the last album that the return to the last tracks closes in beauty. But the band is far from finished with us, and throws us back in time with the excellent « & » before bringing tears to our eyes with « Bruise » and « Happy ». Here again, Tom is at the top of his game, as is the rhythmic duo led by Max Nicolaï on drums and Adam Smith on bass. We’re thrilled to hear the lyrics that have been making us sing for years, and we’re delighted to see « Ceremony » back on the setlist! You can feel that the evening is drawing to a close, but there are still a few musical marvels to sink your teeth into. « Fade » followed by « Haze » and « Little Bird » allowed the audience to give the Welsh another dose of love, while being moved to tears by the power of the band’s lyrics and music. The band left the Trix stage to rapturous applause, thanking the audience for their warm welcome and unfailing support over so many years. We hope to see them again as soon as possible, as their music is an infinite pleasure for our ears and their lyrics are pure nuggets of songwriting. We’ve had another great evening at one of our favorite venues, and we’re ready to do it again soon!
