La quatrième édition de l’Arsenal Rock Festival aura lieu à Beautor du 17 au 19 mai 2024, avec une affiche d’une grande qualité (Les Wampas, Marcel et son Orchestre…). Pour nous faire patienter jusque-là, Reivax Tour organisait ce samedi 6 avril un concert regroupant trois groupes ayant joué lors d’éditions précédentes. Nous avons donc choisi de faire le déplacement jusqu’à Saint-Quentin pour assister aux shows des locaux de Calimucho, des Albigeois de Dirty Fonzy et des inclassables Poésie Zéro.

A notre arrivée, on constate que le public a investi dans un premier temps le parking, donnant des airs de joyeux festival à La Manufacture. Après une courte introduction sous forme de promotion pour l’Arsenal Rock cuvée 2024, Calimucho inaugure cette soirée. Il est encore tôt et une partie du public profite du temps printanier dans la cour extérieure. Le groupe nous propose un punk rock plutôt basique, sans grande surprise. Leurs titres sont anciens, tout comme le groupe qui existe depuis…1995 ! Le quintet se retrouve sur cette scène comme à la maison, d’autant plus qu’ils y ont fait une résidence très récemment afin de préparer au mieux ce concert. De notre côté on a un peu de mal à embarquer avec Calimucho et au fur et à mesure du set, notre attention se délite et nous préférons, comme beaucoup, aller nous aérer sur la fin du show. Les applaudissements nourris, la proximité avec l’association organisatrice, le support des amis présents en nombre dans la fosse font la réussite de ce premier concert, même si cette fois nous ne partageons pas l’enthousiasme de la salle et du groupe.
Dirty Fonzy s’installe rapidement et “Full Speed Ahead” résonne rapidement dans la salle. Le groupe nous a ramené la chaleur du Sud, et nous le partage joyeusement. Le sourire de El Rooliano (chant / guitare) est communicatif. Il partage le chant avec Angelo Papas dans une énergie positive. Le punk rock du groupe fait mouche entre mélodie et puissance, convivialité et joie de vivre. Le quatuor de devant de scène est soutenu à l’arrière par Ju DrumsAreCool (batterie). “Here We Go Again” déchaine le public, et le groupe enchaine avec “Riot In The Pit”, réclamant un Circle Pit. Devant un public qui semble un peu timide, Dirty Fonzy propose un Chenille Pit. Mais face à l’énergie du titre, le public se met rapidement à courir en rond. C’est malheureusement à partir de là que l’on verra apparaître quelques énergumènes peu enclins au respect des autres, lançant volontairement de la bière sur leurs voisins, donnant des coups de coudes peu propices… La scène sera envahie à plusieurs reprises, et certains y restent tellement que la sécurité intervient pour les faire descendre. Le manchot, mascotte incontournable, se fraye tout de même un chemin comme il peut pendant “Beervengers” dans une ambiance qui se veut festive. Un peu avant la fin, un ami est invité à rejoindre le groupe pour tirer au sort les titres du premier album, Playing Punk Song, qui vont être joués, sur fond du générique de Motus. C’est “On the Road” et “The Worst” qui seront interprétées ce soir. Tout comme lors de leur concert du 16 mars dernier à Roubaix, Angelo Papas terminera le concert en nous interprétant “Dirty Fonzy” depuis la fosse. Le public, surexcité et sans limite, lui rendra la tâche difficile, squattant le micro. Le concert se termine dans une ambiance festive et survoltée, avec un public chaud bouillant pour la suite!
Malgré un petit problème d’approvisionnement en bière, tout le public retrouve le chemin de la fosse pour assister au show de Poésie Zéro. Le trio entre sur scène avec “C4EST NOUS LES PUNKS” et on est parti pour entendre François-Xavier hurler pendant environ une heure. Ce dernier commence d’ailleurs en virant Jérôme (chant / DJ) avant de le rappeler au bout de quelques secondes. Le groupe enchaine les tubes issus des albums LALBUMBLEU et ALBUMBLEU, sortis en 2023, tels que “TRUCS DE SALES NAZIS DE MERDE”, “TOUT 9A BRULE TR7S BIEN”. La fosse se déchaîne sur “COUPE DU MONDE DE POGO”. Les éléments non respectueux du public sont pris à parti par François-Xavier à de nombreuses reprises, leur intimant même “d’éviter d’être fier d’être débile”. Ce qu’ils ne comprendront visiblement pas puisque le trio doit stopper “DANS LE CANIVEAU” en raison d’une bagarre éclatant dans la salle. Le public reprend possession du devant de la scène pour une nouvelle volée de titres. “TECHNOFLIC”, titre particulièrement électro, fait lâcher sa guitare à Thomas qui rejoint les deux autres protagonistes dans une chorégraphie endiablée. Les membres du groupe sautent dans tous les sens et occupent l’espace de la scène avec une énergie folle et libératrice. “TRAVAILLER”, “TU VAS QUITTER TON TAF” et “JE VEUX CREVER” sont jouées à la suite, et libèrent toutes les frustrations liées aux semaines de boulot. Le costume de mascotte est revêtu pour terminer le concert, et Poésie Zéro nous quitte à son image, de manière brutale avec “FLINGUE DROGUE THUNE”.
On repart non sans un petit passage au stand de merch qui n’a pas désempli de la soirée. Et malgré quelques individus particulièrement irrespectueux, la soirée a été festive, bon enfant et très bien organisée. De nombreuses associations organisatrices étaient également présentes pour soutenir l’Arsenal Rock, preuve de son implantation dans le paysage des festivals. Côté groupe, on aura eu du mal à être convaincu par le punk rock de Calimucho, mais ils ont visiblement bien chauffé le public pour la suite. On a été heureux de retrouver l’énergie positive de Dirty Fonzy, avant de finir en apothéose, libérant toutes nos frustrations avec Poesie Zero. On les remercie d’ailleurs d’en avoir remis en place certains. On quitte La Manufacture avec une seule chose en tête : vivement l’Arsenal Rock Festival!

The fourth edition of the Arsenal Rock Festival will take place in Beautor from the 17th to the 19th of May 2024, with a top-quality line-up (Les Wampas, Marcel et son Orchestre…). To tide us over until then, on Saturday April 6th Reivax Tour organised a concert featuring three bands who have played at previous festivals. So we decided to make the trip to Saint-Quentin to see local band Calimucho, Albigensian outfit Dirty Fonzy and the unclassifiable Poésie Zéro.

When we arrived, we could see that the audience had taken over the car park, giving La Manufacture the air of a happy festival. After a short introduction promoting Arsenal Rock 2024, Calimucho opened the evening. It’s still early and some of the audience are enjoying the spring-like weather in the courtyard outside. The band’s punk rock is pretty basic, with no big surprises in store. Their songs are old, just like the band, which has been around since…1995! The quintet felt right at home on stage, especially as they had recently taken up residency here to prepare for this concert. For our part, we had a bit of trouble getting on board with Calimucho and as the set went on, our attention waned and we preferred, like many others, to take a breather at the end of the show. The thunderous applause, the closeness of the organising association and the support of the many friends in the pit made this first concert a success, even if this time we didn’t share the enthusiasm of the audience and the band.
Dirty Fonzy quickly settled in and « Full Speed Ahead » soon echoed through the room. The band have brought back the warmth of the South, and they’re happy to share it with us. El Rooliano‘s smile (vocals/guitar) is infectious. He shares the vocals with Angelo Papas in a positive energy. The band’s punk rock hits all the right notes, combining melody and power, conviviality and joie de vivre. The quartet at the front of the stage is supported at the back by Ju DrumsAreCool (drums). « Here We Go Again » takes the crowd by storm, and the band follow up with « Riot In The Pit », calling for a Circle Pit. In front of an audience that seemed a little shy, Dirty Fonzy suggested a Chenille Pit. But the energy of the track soon had the crowd running in circles. Unfortunately, it was from this point onwards that some of the crowd began to show a lack of respect for others, deliberately throwing beer at their neighbours and throwing inappropriate elbows… The stage was invaded several times, and some of them stayed on so long that security had to intervene to get them off. The penguin, the band’s mascot, made his way through as best he could during « Beervengers », in a festive atmosphere. A little before the end, a friend is invited to join the band to draw lots for the tracks from the first album, Playing Punk Song, which are going to be played, with the Motus credits playing in the background. On the Road » and « The Worst » will be played this evening. As at their concert in Roubaix on March 16th, Angelo Papas will end the concert by performing « Dirty Fonzy » from the pit. The audience, overexcited and without limits, made his task difficult, squatting over the microphone. The concert ended in a festive, overexcited atmosphere, with the audience boiling for what’s to come!
Despite a minor problem with the beer supply, the whole audience made their way back to the pit to watch Poésie Zéro. The trio take to the stage with « C4EST NOUS LES PUNKS » and it’s off to the races to hear François-Xavier scream for the next hour or so. Jérôme (vocals / DJ) is fired before being called back after a few seconds. The band go on to play hits from their 2023 albums LALBUMBLEU and ALBUMBLEU, including « TRUCS DE SALES NAZIS DE MERDE » and « TOUT 9A BRULE TR7S BIEN ». The pit goes wild for « COUPE DU MONDE DE POGO ». The disrespectful members of the audience are repeatedlycalled out by François-Xavier, who even warns them « not to be proud of being stupid ». The trio had to stop « DANS LE CANIVEAU » when a fight broke out in the audience. The audience took centre stage again for another volley of songs. « TECHNOFLIC », a particularly electro track, sees Thomas drop his guitar and join the other two protagonists in a frenzied choreography. The members of the group jump around and occupy the stage with a crazy, liberating energy. « TRAVAILLER », « TU VAS QUITTER TON TAF » and « JE VEUX CREVER » are played in quick succession, releasing all the frustrations of a working week. The mascot costume is put on to end the concert, and Poésie Zéro leaves us in their image, in brutal fashion with « FLINGUE DROGUE THUNE ».
We’re off again, but not without a quick trip to the merch stand, which was packed all evening. And despite a few particularly disrespectful individuals, the evening was festive, good-natured and very well organised. Numerous organising associations were also on hand to support Arsenal Rock, proof of the festival’s growing profile. As far as the bands were concerned, Calimucho‘s punk rock had a hard time convincing us, but they obviously got the crowd going for the rest of the evening. We were delighted to see the positive energy of Dirty Fonzy again, before finishing on a high note, releasing all our frustrations with Poesie Zero. We thank them for putting some of them back in place. We leave La Manufacture with one thing in mind: we can’t wait for the Arsenal Rock Festival!
