L’Aéronef accueille en ce vendredi une soirée 100% rock français clairement attendue de pied ferme par le public lillois. En effet, la salle affiche complet depuis quelques semaines déjà, signe que les deux formations ont déjà un public fidèle. C’est donc Lysistrata et The Big Idea qui viennent nous proposer leur musique dopée aux riffs dansants à souhait. Autant vous dire qu’une grande partie de l’équipe était présente pour ne rien manquer de cette belle soirée qui s’annonce.

On commence donc avec les rochelais de The Big Idea qui viennent nous présenter leur album Tales Of Crematie, sorti un peu plus tôt cette année. Beaucoup d’instruments et beaucoup de musiciens sur scène pour une proposition entre rock et musique plus expérimentale. On sent une flopée d’influences qui se mêlent tout au long de la performance avec des musiciens changeant de place sur scène à plusieurs reprises pour un set toujours plus vivant. Les guitares, basse et batterie sont bien présentes mais on retrouve aussi des cuivres  à plusieurs reprises pour un son toujours plus étonnant. Véritable découverte pour nous, il ne nous faut que quelques minutes pour plonger tête la première dans l’univers de The Big Idea, Les morceaux assez longs permettent de profiter pleinement des talents d’interprètes de la formation rochelaise. Toujours sur la corde raide entre morceaux prêts à nous faire remuer et parties plus douces qui rappellent ce que peuvent proposer des groupes pour Black Country New Road, on se prend chaque composition en pleine face avec la même intensité et on découvre à chaque instant une nouvelle raison de vouloir aller découvrir au plus vite la discographie du groupe. Après une prestation ayant bien mis le public en jambe et un dernier titre qui nous laisse subjugués par autant de talent, le groupe remercie le public pour l’accueil et Lysistrata pour l’invitation et quitte la scène très largement applaudit. Autant vous dire qu’il y a de fortes chances que The Big Idea reviennent  à leur tour en tête d’affiche à Lille tant leur set a totalement conquis les personnes présentes ce soir. Une pure découverte comme on les aime!

 

C’est parti pour le set de Lysistrata, tant attendu par tout le public lillois! Leur album Veil en poche, le groupe commence en trombes et fait se réveiller le pogo instantanément. Derrière sa batterie, Ben Amos Cooper nous fait chavirer avec sa voix puissante tout en matraquant ses fûts comme si sa vie en dépendait. L’Aéronef retrouve ce qui fait ses belles heures, des concerts rock dignes des plus grands groupes avec une énergie qui ne laisse rien au hasard. Les mélodies de Lysistrata nous attrapent au cœur pour ne plus nous lâcher, avec toujours cette sonorité post punk lancinante qui ravit nos cœurs de fans du genre. Dans le public c’est l’effervescence des grands soirs et on sent que l’accueil ravit le groupe qui se donne toujours plus dans sa performance. Le groupe n’oublie évidemment pas ses anciens morceaux et nous offre une setlist parfaitement équilibrée entre nouveauté et titres cultes. Le trio nous livre ce qu’il fait de mieux et nous donne envie de danser jusqu’au bout de la nuit. La chaleur commence à bien monter dans la salle lilloise et bien évidemment le pogo ne faiblit pas une seconde. On a face à nous un groupe au sommet de son art, qui en plus de nous livrer des titres tous plus marquants les uns que les autres, met toute son énergie pour que cette soirée soit totalement inoubliable, et c’est clairement réussi. On ne voit pas le temps passer en leur compagnie et lorsque la fin approche on se dit qu’on aurait bien repris un peu plus de rock de haute volée. Mais il nous reste encore quelques titres à nous mettre sous la dent pour lâcher nos dernières forces dans la bataille, et la formation de Saintes ne compte pas nous donner de répit pendant ses dernières minutes de set! Une fin en apothéose qui se clôt par des applaudissements à tout rompre d’un public ravi par la soirée qui vient de se dérouler devant ses yeux. On verra beaucoup de gens si diriger rapidement vers le stand de merch pour aller discuter avec les musiciens.

Le rock français a montré sa vitalité et la scène de Charente Maritime à de très belle heures devant elle avec les deux groupes qui nous ont enchanté ce soir. Encore une fois l’Aéronef a montré que le rock vit fort entre ses murs et on espère revoir les deux groupes rapidement dans cette salle, qui sait sur un prochain Best Of Aéro!

On this Friday, the Aeronef is hosting a 100% French rock night that is clearly eagerly awaited by the Lille public. The venue has been sold out for a few weeks now, a sign that the two bands already have a loyal following. So it’s Lysistrata and The Big Idea who will be bringing us their music, doped up to the brim with danceable riffs. Suffice it to say that a large part of the team were on hand to make sure they didn’t miss out on this great evening.

So we start with The Big Idea from La Rochelle, here to present their album Tales Of Crematie, released earlier this year. Lots of instruments and lots of musicians on stage for a mix of rock and more experimental music. You can feel a whole host of influences mingling throughout the performance, with the musicians changing places on stage several times to keep the set lively. The guitars, bass and drums were very much in evidence, but there were also brass instruments on several occasions, making for an even more astonishing sound. A real discovery for us, it only took a few minutes to dive headfirst into the world of The Big Idea. The fairly long tracks allowed us to take full advantage of the band’s talent as performers. Always walking a tightrope between tracks ready to get you moving and softer parts reminiscent of what bands like Black Country New Road can offer, each composition is met with the same intensity and each moment you discover a new reason for wanting to discover the band’s discography as soon as possible. After a performance that got the audience off to a good start, and a final track that left us transfixed by so much talent, the band thanked the audience for their welcome and Lysistrata for the invitation, and left the stage to rapturous applause. Suffice to say, there’s a good chance that The Big Idea will be back in Lille as headliners, as their set totally won over those present this evening. A pure discovery, just the way we like them!

It’s time for Lysistrata‘s long-awaited set! With their album Veil in hand, the band kick off their set with a bang, waking up the crowd instantly. Behind his drums, Ben Amos Cooper thrills us with his powerful voice, pounding his drums as if his life depended on it. The Aeronef is back to what it used to be: rock concerts worthy of the greatest bands, with an energy that leaves nothing to chance. Lysitrata‘s melodies grab you by the heart and never let go, always with that haunting post-punk sound that delights the hearts of fans of the genre. The crowd is in a frenzy, and you can tell that the band is delighted with the welcome they receive, as they give even more of themselves in their performance. The band didn’t forget their old favourites, of course, and delivered a setlist perfectly balanced between new material and cult favourites. The trio give us their best and make us want to dance until the end of the night. The heat is starting to build in the Lille venue and the pogo doesn’t let up for a second. We’re looking at a band at the top of their game, who, as well as delivering tracks that are each more memorable than the last, are putting all their energy into making this a totally unforgettable evening, and they’ve clearly succeeded. You can’t see the time passing in their company, and as the end draws near, you think you could have done with a bit more high-flying rock. But we’ve still got a few songs left to sink our teeth into, and the band from Saintes don’t intend to give us any respite during the last few minutes of their set! It was a climactic end to the show, brought to a close by rapturous applause from an audience delighted by the evening that had just unfolded before their eyes. Many of the crowd quickly made their way to the merch stand to chat with the musicians.

French rock showed its vitality and the Charente Maritime scene has some great hours ahead of it with the two bands who delighted us this evening. Once again, the Aéronef showed that rock is alive and kicking within its walls, and we hope to see the two bands again soon in this venue, who knows on a future Best Of Aéro!
