Après trois EP, LØLØ sort enfin son premier album intitulé falling for robots and wishing i was one. Il sortira le 7 juin via Hopeless Records. Sur cet album, on peut entendre l’artiste partager ses pensées sur sa vie à travers des chansons qui parlent de chagrin d’amour, d’état mental, de sentiments compliqués ainsi que d’hommes insensibles. Si vous aimez le pop-punk, mais en douceur, vous devez absolument écouter cet album !

LØLØ a annoncé son premier album depuis plus d’un an avec la sortie de son premier single « omg » en mai 2023. Elle a depuis sorti sept autres singles qui figurent dans falling for robots and wishing i was one. L’attente touche à sa fin ! Ce premier album contient tout ce dont nous pouvions avoir besoin et espérer. Il passe de chansons très lentes et douces comme « snow in berlin », « suck it up » ou même « i would fix u if i could » à des titres plus énergiques et dansants comme le dernier single « kill the girl » ou « hot girls in hell ». Cependant, on a l’impression que toutes les chansons qui ont les éléments du single, un refrain accrocheur, plus d’énergie pour attirer l’attention du public, ont été publiées avant l’album, ce qui ne nous laisse pas beaucoup de surprises de ce côté de l’album. L’exception serait « wish i was a robot » où LØLØ parle de ses sentiments et surtout de ce qu’elle pense d’elle-même en terminant la chanson par une répétition de « but I’m only human » qui se termine par une dernière phrase « sometime loving feels disgusting » (parfois aimer est dégoûtant). L’artiste canadienne sait parfaitement comment mélanger des chansons délicates à la guitare acoustique comme « thoughts from the shower » avec des morceaux composés d’éléments plus électroniques. Dans les deux cas, les refrains et les mélodies sont souvent, pour ne pas dire toujours, accrocheurs et vous pousseront à appuyer sur le bouton « replay » !

On est loin du pop-punk tel qu’on l’entendait à l’époque de Blink-182 ou Sum41, on est plus dans une ère moderne avec Charlotte Sands ou même Olivia Rodrigo. Cependant, il est facile de se laisser séduire par ces sons et d’être transporté tout au long de l’album. Falling for robots and wishing i was one, ne battra peut-être pas de record, mais avec la présence de LØLØ sur les réseaux sociaux, nous pouvons être sûrs qu’il touchera les gens. Et si vous voulez découvrir son énergie en live, si ce n’est déjà fait en 2023, elle sera en tournée en Europe en première partie de Jxdn mi-septembre/début octobre 2024 !

On it we can hear the artist sharing her thoughts on her life through songs about heartbreak, mental state, complicated feelings as well as insensitive men. If you like pop-punk, in a soft way, you will definitely need to listen to this one!

LØLØ has been teasing her debut album for more than a year with the release of her first single “omg” in May 2023, she has since released seven other singles that are featured in falling for robots and wishing i was one. The waiting is now coming to an end! This debut album has everything we could need and hope for. It goes from very slow and soft songs such as “snow in berlin”, “suck it up” or even “i would fix u if i could” to more energetic, danceable tracks like the last single “kill the girl” or “hot girls in hell”. However it feels like all the songs that have the single’s elements, catchy chorus, more energy to catch the audience’s ears, were released beforehands which doesn’t leave us with a lot of surprises on this side of the album. The exception would be “wish i was a robot” where LØLØ is talking about her feelings and mostly how she feels about herself ending the song with a repetition of “but I’m only human” closing it with a last sentence “sometime loving feels disgusting”. The canadian artist understands perfectly how to mix delicate acoustic guitar songs such as “thoughts from the shower” with tracks composed of more electronic elements. In either case, choruses and melodies are often, if not always, catchy and will make you hit the replay button!  

We are far from pop-punk in the way we hear us at the time of Blink-182 or Sum41, we are more in a modern era from the likes of Charlotte Sands or even Olivia Rodrigo. However, it is easy to be enticed by these sounds and to easily be transported through the entire album. Falling for robots and wishing i was one, might not break a record but with LØLØ’s presence on social media we can be sure that it will reach out to people. And if you want to discover her energy live, if you haven’t already in 2023, she will be touring in Europe opening for Jxdn mid-September/early October 2024!
