Le groupe messins Fear Of Tomorrow revient après quelques années avec un nouvel album intitulé Missing Letters. Le 14 juin 2024, vous pourrez retrouver ce deuxième opus pour vous plonger dans un ensemble énergique mélangeant emo-rock et post-hardcore mais qui permettra aussi de découvrir quelques moments plus influencés par le post rock. Une proposition qui fonctionne très bien dans nos oreilles.

Après un an de silence, Fear Of Tomorrow ont teasé leur retour fin 2023 sur les réseaux sociaux et c’est en mars que le premier single de Missing Letters, “Gracious” a été dévoilé. Cette année, le groupe arrive avec un nouveau line-up mais aussi un changement artistique dans Missing Letters. Cela leur permet d’explorer un côté moins “screamo” que dans leur précédent album Unliving in Motion ainsi que d’ajouter des éléments plus mélodiques et un aspect plus personnel.
Suite à “Gracious”, le groupe a dévoilé deux autres singles avec “Waiver” et “Sun and Knowledge”, ces trois morceaux nous font découvrir cette facette inédite de Fear Of Tomorrow avec des moments doux menés par la guitare, l’influence du post rock qui semble beaucoup plus présente que dans leur premier album apportant une nouvelle dimension au niveau des mélodies avec des jeux entre les différents sons de guitare comme dans leur morceau “Brightness”. Le morceau “Cracked” présente un début plus énergique que les autres morceaux, qui ont tendance à être plutôt doux dans leurs premières notes comme “Bloody Us”, bien que cela ne mette pas en pause pour autant le tonus du groupe, car la partie post-hardcore est tout aussi présente!
Missing Letters s’achève avec le morceau “Letter to Ourselves”, plus calme que le titre précédent, “Heir To The Last Lake”, il finit par une note instrumentale assez post-rock avant qu’une voix se pose dessus en lisant un extrait du poème Be a friend d’Edgar A. Guest. Les derniers mots de l’album étant “Be a friend. You don’t need glory. Friendship is a simple story”, ce titre dévoile encore plus tout l’aspect personnel que le groupe a voulu mettre en avant avec un thème qui leur semble important.
L’ensemble qu’a créé Fear Of Tomorrow avec Missing Letters fonctionne réellement bien, on retrouve des variations de rythme, un mélange de styles leur créant ainsi une énergie tout à fait contagieuse. Cette nouvelle formation accompagnée par la sortie de ce nouvel album nous donnera très certainement bientôt l’occasion de les retrouver en concert ! En attendant, vous pouvez déjà découvrir Missing Letters dès le 24 juin.

Messinian band Fear Of Tomorrow is back after a few years with a new album entitled Missing Letters. On June 14th, 2024, this second opus will immerse you in an energetic mix of emo-rock and post-hardcore, with a few moments of post-rock influence thrown in for good measure. A proposition that works very well in our ears.

After a year’s silence, Fear Of Tomorrow teased their return at the end of 2023 on social networks, and in March the first single from Missing Letters, “Gracious”, was unveiled. This year, the band arrives with a new line-up but also an artistic change in Missing Letters. This allows them to explore a less “screamo” side than on their previous album Unliving in Motion, as well as adding more melodic elements and a more personal feel.
Following on from “Gracious”, the band have unveiled two further singles, “Waiver” and “Sun and Knowledge”, all three of which reveal a new facet of Fear Of Tomorrow, with soft, guitar-driven moments, the post-rock influence seemingly much more present than on their first album, bringing a new dimension to the melodies, with interplay between different guitar sounds, as in their track “Brightness”. Cracked” gets off to a more energetic start than the other tracks, which tend to be rather mellow in their opening notes, like ‘Bloody Us’, although this doesn’t put the band’s tonus on hold, as the post-hardcore part is just as present!
Missing Letters ends with the track “Letter to Ourselves”, which is calmer than the previous track, “Heir To The Last Lake”, and ends with a rather post-rock instrumental note before a voice lands on it, reading an extract from Edgar A. Guest’s poem Be a friend. The last words of the album being “Be a friend. You don’t need glory. Friendship is a simple story« , this track reveals even more of the personal aspect that the band wanted to bring to the fore with a theme that seems important to them.
Fear Of Tomorrow‘s Missing Letters works really well as a whole, with variations in rhythm and a mix of styles creating an infectious energy. This new formation, accompanied by the release of this new album, will certainly give us the opportunity to see them live again very soon!
