Nous attendions le premier album de Foreign Hands, groupe du Delaware et Pennsylvanie, afin de pouvoir valider les travaux qui étaient déjà bien engagés dans un metalcore/ hardcore metallic qui a décidément le vent en poupe sur ces 4 dernieres années. Aucune surprise de retrouver la formation sur SharpTone Records où on peut retrouver notamment leurs comparses de Dying Wish via lesquels nous avions pu découvrir ce groupe avec “Chlorine Tears”.

L’album commence directement avec de la puissance, pas le temps de prendre une introduction avec “Resetting the Senses” où la voix bien saturée de Tyler se marie parfaitement avec le chant clair de Jack. Nous rappelant la belle époque du metalcore des années 2000. On remarquera de suite les deux featuring présents sur cet album dont un avec Oli Appleyard, chanteur de Static Dress groupe phare de ce revival côté britannique mais aussi Matthew Maxon habitué des feat avec Misery Signal mais réalisateur à son temps plein qui apporte un côté vocal plus grave pour contrebalancer le fry screaming de la part de Tyler. What’s left Unsaid fait ce qu’on attend du groupe dans son ensemble, des gros breaks avec des accords dissonants qui vont pousser la foule à mosher comme sur “A Memory in Latency” , des chorus grandiloquents et vibrants avec une bonne voix claire. On peut notamment noter Will Putney à la production qui a déjà pu travailler avec des groupes comme Knocked Loose ou Vein.fm dont on peut sentir la marque sur des passages “interlude” sur le titre “God Under Fingernails” avec beaucoup de son ambiant où on laisse la part belle à la guitare qui envahit le fond sonore pour repartir sur le chorus. 

L’album vient concrétiser 8 ans de création pour le groupe dont  on peut clairement entendre des passages, inspirations venant de Poison the Well sur “Horror Domain” mais aussi de leur début Cast In Blood mais passé à un tel niveau de production et de travail des chants qui fait que le groupe est passée à un autre stade. 

Il a du matériel pour pouvoir rentrer dans un top 5 album de l’année dans son genre ou en tout cas continuer à mettre de la lumière sur le style avec des groupes comme Boundaries , No Cure … On espère que cet album leur permettra de se démocratiser au sein de l’Europe puisqu’on pourra les retrouver dans une tournée européenne courant septembre octobre en première partie de nos français de Sorcerer et Guilt Trip.

We’ve been waiting for the debut album from Foreign Hands, a band from Delaware and Pennsylvania, so that we could validate their work, which was already well underway in a metalcore/hardcore metallic style that’s definitely had the wind in its sails over the last 4 years. It’s no surprise to find the band on SharpTone Records, where you’ll also find their compatriots from Dying Wish, who introduced us to them with « Chlorine Tears ».

The album gets off to a powerful start, and there’s no time for an introduction with « Resetting the Senses », where Tyler’s well-saturated voice blends perfectly with Jack‘s clear vocals. Reminiscent of the metalcore heyday of the 2000s. The album also features two guest appearances, one by Oli Appleyard, lead singer of Static Dress, the flagship band of the British metalcore revival, and Matthew Maxon, a full-time producer who has already been involved in feats with Misery Signal, who brings a deeper vocal edge to counterbalance Tyler‘s fry screaming. What’s left Unsaid does what we’ve come to expect from the band as a whole, big breaks with dissonant chords that will get the crowd moshing like on « A Memory in Latency », grandiloquent and vibrant choruses with good clear vocals. Will Putney, who has already worked with bands such as Knocked Loose and Vein.fm, is on hand to produce the album, and his mark can be felt on the interlude passages of « God Under Fingernails », with its ambient sound where the guitar invades the background sound, only to return on the chorus.

The album is the culmination of 8 years of creative work for the band, and you can clearly hear passages and inspirations from Poison the Well on « Horror Domain », as well as from their debut Cast In Blood, but they’ve moved on to such a high level of production and vocal work that the band has moved on to another stage.

They’ve got what it takes to make it into a top 5 album of the year in their genre, or at least continue to shine a light on the style with bands like Boundaries , No Cure … We’re hoping that this album will enable them to spread throughout Europe, since they’ll be on a European tour in September-October, opening for our French friends Sorcerer and Guilt Trip.
