Groupe né pendant la période Covid entre Francfort sur le Main et Leipzig , les allemands nous proposent un EP très intimiste à l’image de la période dans laquelle leur processus créatif à commencer. A l’image de notre ressenti durant cette période, les chansons et leurs paroles sont très tournés sur l’appréhension de son intégrité et l’élaboration de monde fantastique afin de pouvoir s’enfuir du quotidien dont Schahryar Kananian ayant été assez marqué car docteur en science il a énormément travaillé et potasser sur ces sujets de santé publique. L’EP Eastwest / Remote doit d’ailleurs son nom à cet aspect remote, création en distancielle entre l’iran, les Etats Unis et l’Allemagne.

On inaugure l’EP avec “Grasp” titre étant déjà sorti sur les plateformes. On sent direct les inspirations post hardcore/ indie dans les percussions envoutantes du titre pouvant nous rappeler les débits de Foals ou Local Natives. La guitare ambiante répond aux percussions pour nous enivrer avec cette chaleur estivale. “ARP II” ramène pour la première fois sur cet EP le côté oriental qui reviendra après « Transcender ». Les gammes de guitare ainsi que les falsettos (petite pensée à Tamino) de Schahryar nous transportent directement pour ce voyage. Ce qui est bien fait dans cet EP c’est aussi le fait que chaque morceau soit unique en son genre mais avec un fil rouge entre certaines chansons. Comme énoncé précédemment “ARP II” et “Transcender” nous rappelle les rythmes orientaux mais avec une approche beaucoup électronique pour ce dernier qui permet de contraster avec le côté plus jazzy de “ARP II “
“Yann” quant à lui est le titre le plus intimiste du projet de part ses paroles mais aussi le côté très ambiant et intimiste de la guitare; Un travail a été fait sur le son pour ajouter du bruit ( bruit de métro ?) nous permettant de rentrer au plus plus profond de l’histoire et d’écrire les lignes en même temps que nous les écoutions. On finira cet EP avec un son de piano et des trompettes pour venir nous accompagner vers la sortie avec une nappe de son.
Via leur approche très numérique et spéciale conditionnée par la période de process, Roué réussi sa mission avec ce premier EP qui nous emporte droit vers les mondes imaginaires de l’Orient afin de pouvoir profiter de l’été dans son lit en introspection.

Born during the Covid period between Frankfurt am Main and Leipzig, the Germans offer us a very intimate EP in the image of the period in which their creative process began. Like the way we felt during that period, the songs and their lyrics are very much concerned with the apprehension of one’s own integrity and the creation of a fantastic world as a means of escaping from everyday life. Schahryar Kananian has been quite marked by this, as he has a doctorate in science and has done a lot of work on public health issues. The Eastwest / Remote EP owes its name to this remote aspect, a remote creation between Iran, the United States and Germany.

The EP opens with ‘Grasp’, a track that has already been released. You can hear the post-hardcore/indie inspiration in the track’s bewitching percussion, reminiscent of Foals or Local Natives. The ambient guitar meets the percussion to intoxicate us with that summer heat. « ARP II » brings back for the first time on this EP the oriental side that will return after « Transcender ». Schahryar’s guitar scales and falsettos (with a nod to Tamino) take us straight into the journey. What’s also great about this EP is the fact that each track is unique in its own way, but with a common thread running between certain songs. As previously stated, « ARP II » and « Transcender » remind us of oriental rhythms, but with a more electronic approach for the latter, which contrasts with the more jazzy side of « ARP II ».
« Yann » is the most intimate track on the project, both lyrically and in terms of the ambient, intimate feel of the guitar. A lot of work has been done on the sound to add some noise (metro noise?), allowing us to go deeper into the story and write the lines as we listen. We end the EP with a piano sound and trumpets to accompany us towards the exit with a layer of sound.
With their very digital and special approach, conditioned by the processing period, Roué have succeeded in their mission with this first EP, which takes us straight to the imaginary worlds of the Orient so that we can enjoy the summer in bed in introspection.
