Au mois de mai sortait un nouvel opus enflammé des Russes de Moscow Death Brigade. A cette occasion, de nombreux invités ont posé leur voix sur les 10 nouveaux titres de Radio Hope. Leur techno/rap/punk agite les pogos de nombreux festivals et scènes. Les albums nous font également ressentir toute cette énergie. Radio Hope, sorti via Rebel Records, n’a donc aucune raison d’échapper à cette règle!

C’est par le titre éponyme qu’on démarre Radio Hope. Avec comme invitée Jen Pop de The Bombpops, on entre rapidement dans l’univers du groupe et plus particulièrement de cet album. En effet, on retrouvera tout au long des 10 titres plusieurs invitées, et donc divers chants féminins. Radio Hope donne donc une place importante aux femmes de la scène punk, pour notre plus grand plaisir! Cela va dans le sens des engagements du groupe, qu’ils qualifient eux-mêmes de non politique mais humains (ce qui leur vaut tout de même une interdiction de concerts sur le territoire Russe…). On retrouve donc le titre emblématique “Ruder Than Croc” avec la tout aussi emblématique Elisa Dixan de Los Fastidios. 

Radio Hope est également tourné vers les images fétiches de Moscow Death Brigade telles que le crocodile ou la pince coupante. On retrouve ainsi “Boltcutter Army” ou  “Return of the Reptile”. Ce dernier est d’ailleurs en featuring avec Rob de Born From Pain qui vient poser sa voix incisive. Tous ces invités ne font pas oublier l’âme de Moscow Death Brigade, à savoir des basses fortes qui donnent envie de mettre la tête dans le caisson, et un chant hip hop avec un débit très rapide. En somme un condensé d’énergie, de colère contre la société, de revendications fortes. Et pour ceux qui aiment les basses, le groupe nous propose même ici une version Rave de “Flares are Burning”, sorti initialement en 2021. Evidemment dans les messages, on ressent un thème très cher à l’antifascisme que défend le groupe, à savoir le fait de combattre ensemble, unis. C’est notamment le cas avec “Against Them All” ou “Still Carry On”. Des messages positifs donc, avec un espoir qui peut naître du collectif et des luttes unies. L’album se termine comme il a démarré avec la voix de Jen Pop sur “Live Another Day”, titre appelant à ne rien lâcher, à supprimer les frontières, à rester unis.

Radio Hope est donc un album fidèle aux valeurs et revendications humanistes de Moscow Death Brigade. Les nombreux featuring avec des artistes issus de la scène punk donnent un aspect encore plus collectif aux messages véhiculés. Et en ces temps où la société peut faire peur par la montée du fascisme, de l’individualisme et de la guerre, nous on se branche avec plaisir sur la fréquence de cette radio de l’espoir.

May saw the release of a fiery new opus from Russia’s Moscow Death Brigade. To mark the occasion, a number of guests lent their voices to Radio Hope‘s 10 new tracks. Their techno/rap/punk is stirring up the pogos at many festivals and stages. The albums also give us a taste of all that energy. Radio Hope, released via Rebel Records, has no reason to escape this rule!

Radio Hope kicks off with the eponymous track. With Jen Pop from The Bombpops as guest vocalist, we quickly enter the world of the band and more particularly of this album. Indeed, throughout the 10 tracks, there are a number of guest stars, and therefore a variety of female vocals. Radio Hope gives an important place to the women of the punk scene, much to our delight! This is in keeping with the band’s commitments, which they themselves describe as non-political but human (which is why they have been banned from performing in Russia…). We find the emblematic track ‘Ruder Than Croc’ with the equally emblematic Elisa Dixan from Los Fastidios.

Radio Hope also focuses on Moscow Death Brigade‘s favourite images, such as crocodiles and bolt cutters. These include ‘Boltcutter Army’ and ‘Return of the Reptile’. The latter features the incisive vocals of Rob from Born From Pain. All these guests don’t detract from the soul of Moscow Death Brigade, which is to say the strong bass that makes you want to stick your head in the subwoofer, and the fast-paced hip hop vocals. All in all, a compendium of energy, anger at society and strong demands. And for those who love bass, the band even offer us a rave version of ‘Flares are Burning’, originally released in 2021. Naturally, the messages convey a theme very dear to the band’s anti-fascism, namely the idea of fighting together, united. This is particularly true of ‘Against Them All’ and ‘Still Carry On’. Positive messages, then, with a hope that can be born of the collective and united struggles. The album ends as it began, with Jen Pop‘s voice on ‘Live Another Day’, a track calling for us to give up nothing, to break down borders, to stay united.

Radio Hope is an album faithful to the humanist values and demands of Moscow Death Brigade. The many featuring artists from the punk scene give an even more collective aspect to the messages conveyed. And at a time when society can be frightening, with the rise of fascism, individualism and war, we’re happy to tune in to this radio station of hope.
