Les Amiénois de Bill The Dog sortent ce vendredi 25 octobre un nouvel opus de 10 titres détonants aux accents grind, chez CNVX RCRDS. Si vous connaissez un peu la formation, vous vous douterez bien que Y’a d’la joie est un titre teinté d’humour noir et de second degré sombre.

Autant prévenir tout de suite, cette chronique ne sera pas d’une longueur folle. Et pour cause, Y’a d’la joie comporte 10 titres pour un total de… 8 minutes! Oui oui, c’est rapide! La majorité des morceaux durent une trentaine de secondes. Baldric, par sa voix, vomit toute les horreurs du monde sur un fracas musical percutant. Et il y a malheureusement de quoi faire en ce moment, au vu de toutes les guerres et exterminations coloniales qui règnent dans le monde. En témoignent ainsi des titres comme “Le Colon” ou “Génocide”. Les passages principalement gutturaux sont parfois contrastés avec un chant plus clair, que l’on entend dans les compositions plus punk du groupe, et qui met ici en exergue certains mots percutants. Dans les thèmes, on en retrouve certains géographiquement plus proches de nous, Bill The Dog étant engagé dans la lutte contre l’extrême droite depuis toujours. Ainsi “Collabo” et “Pays de Nazi” traitent moins de crimes de guerre et davantage de politique, et de dérive autoritaire de notre société. “La Rue” est d’ailleurs un appel à faire valoir nos droits et revendications. Dans “Pendons Les” et “Groupes de Merde”, la voix se fait plus profonde, tirant sur le metal extrême, à l’instar des riffs plus lents mais plus massifs. On termine l’album avec un titre tout à fait différent de plus de 3 minutes, “Tout est rouge”, en featuring avec Elouann. La voix parlée provoque une émotion à couper le souffle, avec des accents de Fauve qui scanderait “siamo tutti antifascisti”. En fond, la guitare semble être juste au service des mots, avec une délicate retenue. Et alors que l’on vibre dans ce désespoir qui semble n’être que l’aboutissement de tous les autres titres tant ils abordent de sujets horribles mais réels, l’ensemble s’énerve et fait sortir toute la colère que provoque également les atrocités qui ont cours dans notre société, dans le monde entier.
Y’a d’la Joie est un album de grindcore qui fait jaillir cette colère que nous inspire le monde et ses horreurs bien trop actuelles. Court mais intense, on vous invite à aller y jeter une oreille (si peu que vous soyez sensible au grindcore, sinon passez directement au dernier titre!). L’avantage c’est que ça ne vous prendra pas longtemps… Et au-delà de ça on vous conseille à 100% d’aller voir Bill The Dog sur scène! Ils seront notamment au BË FÖR Autfest le 29 mars 2025.

Bill The Dog, from Amiens, are releasing a new 10-track opus with a grind edge on Friday October 25th. If you’re at all familiar with the band, you’ll have no doubt that Y’a d’la joie is a track tinged with black humour and a dark sense of humour.

Let me warn you right away, this review will not be insanely long. And for good reason, Y’a d’la joie comprises 10 tracks totalling… 8 minutes! Yes, that’s fast! Most of the tracks last around thirty seconds. Baldric‘s voice spews out all the horrors of the world over a thumping musical crash. And there’s plenty to do at the moment, given all the wars and colonial exterminations going on around the world. Tracks like ‘Le Colon’ and ‘Génocide’ bear witness to this. The predominantly guttural passages are sometimes contrasted with the clearer vocals heard in the band’s more punkish compositions, which highlight some of the hard-hitting words here. Some of the themes are geographically closer to home, as Bill The Dog has always been involved in the fight against the extreme right. Collabo’ and “Pays de Nazi” deal less with war crimes and more with politics and the authoritarian drift of our society. ‘La Rue’ is a call to assert our rights and demands. In ‘Pendons Les’ and ‘Groupes de Merde’, the vocals take on a deeper, more extreme metal edge, as do the slower but more massive riffs. The album ends with a completely different track, ‘Tout est rouge’, featuring Elouann, which lasts over 3 minutes. The spoken voice evokes breathtaking emotion, with accents of Fauve chanting ‘siamo tutti antifascisti’. In the background, the guitar seems to be at the service of the words, with a delicate restraint. And while the despair seems to be the culmination of all the other tracks, so horrific but real are the subjects they tackle, the whole thing gets angry and brings out all the anger provoked by the atrocities taking place in our society, all over the world.
Y’a d’la Joie is a grindcore album that brings out the anger we feel about the world and its all-too-current horrors. Short but intense, we invite you to give it a listen (provided you’re into grindcore, otherwise skip straight to the last track!) The good thing is, it won’t take you long… And beyond that, we 100% recommend that you go and see Bill The Dog live! They’ll be at the BË FÖR Autfest on March 29th 2025.
