Pour une fin de semaine en douceur, Le Splendid et Tu M’Etonnes Productions nous proposent ce vendredi 28 novembre une affiche plutôt pop avec la chanteuse Emma Peters et ses chansons d’amour aux rythmes dansants, accompagnée de Susanoô qui nous a offert une prestation qui a su réchauffer la salle du froid extérieur.

Susanoô entre en scène sur des chœurs, accompagné uniquement d’un guitariste discret, installé dans un coin sombre à l’avant de la scène. Le début, marqué par des sonorités proches du rap, annonce cependant une performance éclectique. Susanoô ne se cantonne pas à un style en particulier. Outre ses propres morceaux, il revisite des classiques comme “Comme ils disent” de Charles Aznavour, suivi d’un mashup surprenant alternant aisément entre le français et l’anglais, avec des extraits reconnaissables de “Toxic” ou “Crazy”. Avec humour, il joue sur le fait que peu de personnes dans la salle le connaissent, évoquant également la difficulté d’être en première partie. Pourtant, il ne lui faut pas longtemps pour embarquer le public dans son voyage musical. Débutant avec des sonorités rap, passant par la chanson française, il termine sur des rythmes plus dansants avec des titres comme “Chaleur”. Enfin, il conclut sa prestation avec sa dernière sortie, “Briller”, un morceau qui va nous rester dans la tête nous donnant envie d’en entendre davantage.
La salle du Splendid, bien remplie, s’impatiente lorsque les lumières s’éteignent. Les musiciens entrent un à un sur scène, puis Emma Peters apparaît, vêtue d’un pantalon à sequins, sur un fond éclairé par une forme d’éclair en LED. Le décor annonce un spectacle haut en couleur. Suite à la sortie de son deuxième album Tout De Suite en juin 2024, Emma Peters est venue faire découvrir les versions live de ses nouveaux titres. L’ouverture se fait avec “Risque” qui est suivi de plusieurs morceaux de cet opus. Dès le départ, les paroles sont reprises en chœur par le public, et ses mélodies accrocheuses font danser sans hésitation.
La chanteuse n’oublie pas de faire un clin d’oeil à ses débuts sur YouTube avec sa reprise de “Clandestina” de Lartiste, qu’elle interprète également ce soir. Devant ce Splendid complet, elle partage aussi le contexte de certaines de ses chansons, comme “Juliette”, dédiée à une amie proche atteinte de troubles schizophréniques et paranoïaques, en soulignant l’importance de la santé mentale. Elle raconte également que “PetersFamily (Maman)”, écrit pour sa mère à une période difficile, n’était pas destiné à figurer sur l’album, mais que, avec l’accord de cette dernière, il y a finalement trouvé sa place, devenant un moment fort en émotion, tant en version studio qu’en live. Le deuxième cover de la soirée est “Gisèle” de Luidji, qu’Emma Peters revisite avec sa guitare, offrant une version intimiste et différente de l’originale. Elle reconnaît avec le public que ses chansons parlent souvent d’amour, mais elles concernent aussi les personnes qui comptent dans sa vie familiale. Ainsi, “Parle-Moi” est dédié à son grand-père, et, comme le titre pour sa mère, ses paroles touchantes renforcent l’émotion de la soirée. La chanteuse Lilloise termine avec “Multicolore”, une ode à l’amour et à la tolérance, avant de quitter la scène. Le public, cependant, réclame un rappel, et elle revient interpréter “Encore”. C’est finalement avec “Empreinte”, chantée par la foule sous les lumières des flashs de téléphone, qu’elle conclut, les larmes aux yeux.
Emma Peters nous a offert un concert riche en émotions, ne cessant de rappeler à quel point jouer à Lille, sa ville natale, est spécial pour elle. Accompagnée de Susanoô en première partie, la soirée a permis de découvrir un artiste talentueux et varié, parfaitement adapté à l’univers d’Emma Peters. Cette date complète témoigne de l’accueil chaleureux réservé au deuxième album de la chanteuse, Tout De Suite. Si vous l’avez manquée, rassurez vous, elle reviendra faire chavirer nos cœurs au Théâtre Sébastopol l’année prochaine !

For a gentle end to the week, on Friday 28 November Le Splendid and Tu M’Etonnes Productions brought us a rather pop line-up featuring singer Emma Peters and her danceable love songs, accompanied by Susanoô who gave us a performance that warmed up the room from the cold outside.

Susanoô takes to the stage with backing vocals, accompanied only by a discreet guitarist, seated in a dark corner at the front of the stage. The beginning, marked by sounds close to rap, nevertheless heralds an eclectic performance. Susanoô doesn’t stick to one particular style. As well as his own songs, he revisits classics such as Charles Aznavour‘s ‘Comme ils disent’, followed by a surprising mashup that alternates easily between French and English, with recognisable extracts from ‘Toxic’ and ‘Crazy’. With humour, he plays on the fact that few people in the room know him, and also evokes the difficulty of being the opening act. But it didn’t take him long to take the audience on a musical journey. Beginning with a rap sound, then moving on to French chanson, he ended on more danceable rhythms with songs like ‘Chaleur’. Finally, he concludes his performance with his latest release, ‘Briller’, a track that will get stuck in our heads, leaving us wanting to hear more.
The full house at Le Splendid waited impatiently for the lights to go down. The musicians enter the stage one by one, then Emma Peters appears, dressed in sequined trousers, against a backdrop lit by a form of LED lightning. The backdrop heralds a colourful show. Following the release of her second album Tout De Suite in June 2024, Emma Peters was on hand to present live versions of her new songs. The show opened with ‘Risque’, followed by several tracks from the album. Right from the start, the lyrics are taken up by the audience, and her catchy melodies make you dance without hesitation.
The singer did not forget to give a nod to her early days on YouTube with her cover of Lartiste‘s ‘Clandestina’, which she also performed this evening. In front of a full Splendid audience, she also shared the background to some of her songs, such as ‘Juliette’, dedicated to a close friend suffering from schizophrenic and paranoid disorders, stressing the importance of mental health. She also recounts how ‘PetersFamily (Maman)’, written for her mother at a difficult time, was not intended to feature on the album, but with her mother’s agreement, it eventually found its way onto the album, becoming an emotional moment, both in studio version and live. The second cover of the evening is Luidji‘s ‘Gisèle’, which Emma Peters revisits with her guitar, offering an intimate and different version of the original. She agrees with the audience that her songs are often about love, but they are also about the people who matter in her family life. For example, ‘Parle-Moi’ is dedicated to her grandfather, and, like the song for her mother, its touching lyrics reinforce the emotion of the evening. The singer from Lille ended with ‘Multicolore’, an ode to love and tolerance, before leaving the stage. The audience, however, demanded an encore, and she returned to perform ‘Encore’. Finally, it was with ‘Empreinte’, sung by the crowd under the lights of the telephone flashbulbs, that she concluded, tears in her eyes.
Emma Peters gave us a concert rich in emotion, never ceasing to remind us how special it is for her to play in Lille, her home town. Accompanied by Susanoô as support act, the evening was an opportunity to discover a talented and varied artist, perfectly suited to the world of Emma Peters. This sold-out show testifies to the warm reception given to the singer’s second album, Tout De Suite. If you missed her, don’t worry, she’ll be back to capture our hearts at the Théâtre Sébastopol next year!
