Pour cette première chronique Pelagic Records de l’année, c’est du côté de Rennes que l’on part, avec les français de Hanry, qui sortent Disruption, leur deuxième EP, de quoi commencer l’année sur les chapeaux de roues. Un pur moment de post rock, l’EP sera disponible dès ce 10 janvier.

C’est un spectre lumineux entier qui nous est proposé au travers de la musique de Hanry. « Radiance » et ses synthétiseurs est à la fois doux comme un levée de soleil, qui vient éclairer notre monde, que puissant lorsque batterie et guitares sont en communion. Une musique très aérienne, et subtilement légère, parfaitement représenté avec « Ether ». La section rythmique semble maitre d’orchestre de ce morceau, sans jamais partir dans une folie très prog. La nature se dessine devant nos yeux, et dans nos oreilles, où le post rock prends le temps de monter crescendo jusqu’à nous plonger dans un état d’euphorie. Le voyage du champ du visible se poursuit avec « Zenith », qui semble embué, nous rappelant peut-être ces êtres qui veillent sur nous au dessus de nos têtes. Hanry clôturent leur EP avec « Intermission », qui sonne comme une fin de film, où chaque personnage a retrouvé sa place, et qu’un avenir prometteur l’attends. Côté guitare, on est ici sur le morceau qui fait totalement chaviré sa sonorité de leur album, frolant les influences stoners. Ce titre est à la fois plein d’espoir, nous montrant que l’histoire n’est pas fini, tout en clôturant un chapitre fort.
Hanry proposent avec ce deuxième EP fort en émotions et en images mentales, qui sont douces et prenantes. Une écoute captivante, toute en beauté, plongeant l’auditeur dans un état à la fois d’euphorie, de bienveillance mais surtout de clarté sur le monde qui l’entoure.

Hanry‘s music offers us a whole spectrum of light. “Radiance”, with its synthesizers, is as gentle as a sunrise illuminating our world, as it is powerful when drums and guitars are in communion. A very airy, subtly light music, perfectly represented by “Ether”. The rhythm section seems to be the orchestral master of this track, without ever descending into prog madness. Nature takes shape before our eyes, and in our ears, where the post rock takes the time to build to a crescendo, plunging us into a state of euphoria. The journey from the field of the visible continues with “Zenith”, which sounds misty, perhaps reminding us of those beings watching over our heads. Hanry close their EP with “Intermission”, which sounds like the end of a film, where each character has found his or her place, and a promising future awaits. On the guitar side, this is the track that totally capsizes its sound, frolling stoner influences. This track is at once hopeful, showing us that the story isn’t over, and closing a strong chapter.
Hanry’s second EP is full of emotion and mental imagery that is both gentle and engaging. A captivating listen, full of beauty, plunging the listener into a state of euphoria, benevolence and, above all, clarity about the world around them.
