Toujours à la recherche de nouveaux sons percutants, les Amiénois de Bill The Dog nous proposent en ce début d’année, un nouvel EP, quelques mois après Y’a d’la Joie. Ils sont cette fois en jolie compagnie avec Soro & Somsouk. Cette nouvelle sortie, intitulée CHIEN est prévue pour le 24 janvier.

Vous vouliez du Bill The Dog? Du Soro & Somsouk? Et bien vous avez les deux avec CHIEN! Suivant depuis longtemps Bill The Dog, il faut avouer que CHIENS nous prend par surprise. L’univers rap de Soro & Somsouk, que personnellement je découvre ici, vient se marier parfaitement aux sonorités de Bill The Dog. Sonorités au pluriel car le groupe nous a déjà prouvé maintes fois son ouverture, allant du punk rock au grindcore, en passant par le hardcore, sans oublier les influences de metal extrême. Ici encore, le mélange de styles fonctionne à merveille. Tantôt agressif, tantôt mélancolique, CHIEN nous fait vivre une palette émotionnelle intense.
Les quatre titres portent d’ailleurs des noms évocateurs. “LA PEUR” démarre avec cet univers rap incisif. On y trouve plusieurs références à l’univers du Seigneur des Anneaux mais également aux valeurs qui nous portent comme l’antifascisme et l’anticapitalisme. On y ressent autant les combats à mener que les effets de notre société actuelle sur nos âmes profondément humanistes et antifascistes, oscillant entre rage, amertume, détermination et lassitude, sans pour autant jamais rien lâcher. “L’ANGOISSE” s’ouvre sur un son particulièrement Bill The Doguesque : lourd, agressif, hardcore. On est dans le registre de la violence, de l’agressivité. Il est clair que le titre va permettre de vomir tous ces sentiments qui parfois nous figent dans une jolie bagarre qu’on imagine déjà dans le pit. On entre totalement dans le registre de la mélancolie avec “LE VIDE”. Le chant rappé sur une douce guitare mélodique puis le chant clair en français pour en arriver à un cri grave, viennent faire appel à quelque chose de très profond, enfoui. Ça vient faire vibrer nos tripes, dans une introspection partagée. Et finalement on se rend compte que ce vide que l’on ressent, parfois renvoyé par les autres, est bien souvent comblé par une haine de nous-même, elle-même nourrie par ce vide que nous renvoie les autres, dans un cercle vicieux qui nous amène à nous auto-entraîner vers le fond. “L’ESPOIR” vient clore cet EP tout en douceur. Musicalement ce titre est beaucoup moins lourd que les autres. Les paroles sont pleines de nuances et apportent un certain recul sur tout ce qui nous entoure et peut parfois nous plonger dans le noir. Il est une parfaite suite au titre précédent. Il nous laisse dans un sentiment de flottement et d’introspection.
Inattendu, surprenant, accrocheur, lourd, travaillé, brillant, plein de réflexions… Cet EP est encore une fois la preuve que l’ouverture est la clé pour vivre de belles expériences. Le partage est ce qui fait avancer, nous offrant ici un univers musical particulièrement intéressant. Bill The Dog et Soro & Somsouk seront en release party de CHIEN ce samedi 25 janvier au Garage Café à Cambrai, ainsi qu’à Cité Carter à Amiens le 21 février. Foncez y!

Always on the lookout for new, hard-hitting sounds, Bill The Dog from Amiens are back with a new EP at the start of the year, a few months after Y’a d’la Joie. This time, they’re in good company with Soro & Somsouk. This new release, entitled CHIEN, is due for release on January 24.

You wanted Bill The Dog? Soro & Somsouk? Well, you’ve got both with CHIEN! Having followed Bill The Dog for a long time, we have to admit that CHIENS takes us by surprise. The rap universe of Soro & Somsouk, which I’m personally discovering here, blends perfectly with the sounds of Bill The Dog. Sounds in the plural, because the band has already proved its openness many times over, ranging from punk rock to grindcore, via hardcore, not forgetting extreme metal influences. Here again, the mix of styles works perfectly. Sometimes aggressive, sometimes melancholy, CHIEN takes us through an intense emotional palette.
All four tracks have evocative names. “LA PEUR” kicks off with this incisive rap universe. There are many references to the Lord of the Rings universe, but also to the values we hold dear, such as anti-fascism and anti-capitalism. We can feel both the battles to be fought and the effects of today’s society on our deeply humanist and anti-fascist souls, oscillating between rage, bitterness, determination and weariness, without ever giving up. “L’ANGOISSE” opens with a particularly Bill The Doguesque sound: heavy, aggressive, hardcore. It’s all about violence and aggression. It’s clear that the track will allow you to vomit out all those feelings that sometimes freeze you in a lovely brawl that you can already imagine in the pit. We enter the register of melancholy with “LE VIDE”. The rapped vocals over a gentle melodic guitar, followed by clear French vocals and a deep cry, appeal to something very deep, buried. It makes our guts vibrate, in a shared introspection. And in the end, we realize that the emptiness we feel, sometimes reflected by others, is very often filled by a hatred of ourselves, itself fed by the emptiness reflected by others, in a vicious circle that leads us to drag ourselves down. “L’ESPOIR” brings the EP to a gentle close. Musically, this track is much lighter than the others. The lyrics are full of nuance and provide a certain perspective on everything that surrounds us and can sometimes plunge us into darkness. It’s a perfect follow-up to the previous track. It leaves us with a feeling of floating and introspection.
Unexpected, surprising, catchy, heavy, worked, brilliant, full of reflections… This EP is once again proof that openness is the key to great experiences. Sharing is what drives us forward, and here we have a particularly interesting musical universe. Bill The Dog and Soro & Somsouk will be at the CHIEN release party on Saturday January 25th at Garage Café in Cambrai, and at Cité Carter in Amiens on February 21st. Go for it!
