Avec déjà trois albums ravageurs au compteur, les américains de Great American Ghost ont bien des messages à faire passer, quelques jours après l’investiture de Trump. Ils sortent ce 31 janvier leur quatrième album, Tragedy Of The Commons, via Sharptone Records éclatant tout sur son passage.

Qui de mieux pour crier sa rage que Great American Ghost ? Il faut dire que l’actualité politique a été malheureusement très propice à faire bouillonner en nous tout notre dégoût et notre haine envers ceux qui dirigent sans aucune once d’humanité. Alors pour commencer de nouvel opus, c’est avec une cargaison de « Kerosene » qu’on va venir mettre le feu à l’élite qui nous écrase, réduit nos droits, fait grandir la haine. On vous prévient, c’est fracassant ! Les américains n’hésite pas à nous envoyer les plus beaux changement de rythme à la limite du mathcore, notamment dans « Echoes of War » ou « Chapel Paralysis » dont les parties de batterie sont impressionnantes. C’est chirurgical, limite industriel dans les rythmes, comme sur « Genocide » où la terreur a vite pris le dessus. Les compositions sont parfaitement à l’image des messages, mais pas question de les transformer en total boucherie. Le groupe ne mets pas de côté leur angle assez metalcore que l’on a connu dans certains de leurs anciennes compositions, et ce n’est pas un hasard si les titres les plus doux, avec des refrains au chant clair ont été les singles de cet album. « Lost In The Outline » offre de belle mélodie, la sauce parfaite pour illustrer un sentiment connu de tous : Se sentir manipuler, piéger comme un rat de laboratoire dans un monde rempli de mensonges. « Forsaken » ne déroge pas à la règle de leurs singles et vient placer un magnifique breakdown puissant au cœur de la composition, qui gronde telle une tronçonneuse. Le moteur de la bête est quasiment perceptible dans les distorsions des guitares. Le troisième single, « Hymn of Decay » prouvera qu’on peut ralentir le rythme sans pour autant perdre toute la puissance musicale. Les titres font une part belle à la religion et les titres « God Is A Loaded Gun » ou « Chapel Paralysis » n’ont pas besoin d’explication pour comprendre dans quel sens. Chaque composition est plus ravageuse que ses prédécesseurs et on voit le bout de l’album complètement à bout de souffle.
Great American Ghost continue leur ascension en vous attrapant par le col. Désormais dans l’écurie Sharptone Records, nous n’avons pas de doute qu’ils vont venir toucher un nouveau public à soif de revendication politique et plein de rage. On est impressionné par cet album puissant qui nous conquis dès la première écoute.

With three devastating albums already under their belts, the Americans of Great American Ghost have a lot of messages to get across, a few days after Trump’s inauguration. On January 31st, they release their fourth album, Tragedy Of The Commons, via Sharptone Records, shattering everything in its path.

Who better to cry out your rage than Great American Ghost? It has to be said that current political events have unfortunately been very conducive to bubbling up in us all our disgust and hatred towards those who rule, without an ounce of humanity. So, to kick off this new opus, we’re going to use a truckload of “Kerosene” to set fire to the elite who are crushing us, curtailing our rights and stirring up hatred. We warn you, it’s going to be smashing! The Americans don’t hesitate to send us the most beautiful changes of rhythm bordering on mathcore, notably in “Echoes of War” or “Chapel Paralysis”, whose drum parts are impressive. The rhythms are surgical, bordering on industrial, as on “Genocide”, where the terror quickly takes over. The compositions perfectly reflect the messages, but there’s no question of turning them into total butchery. The band doesn’t shy away from the metalcore angle we’ve come to know in some of their earlier compositions, and it’s no coincidence that the softer tracks, with clear-sung choruses, were the singles from this album. “Lost In The Outline” offers a beautiful melody, the perfect sauce to illustrate a feeling we all know: Feeling manipulated, trapped like a lab rat in a world full of lies. “Forsaken” is no exception to the rule of their singles, placing a magnificent, powerful breakdown at the heart of the composition, rumbling along like a chainsaw. The engine of the beast is almost perceptible in the distorted guitars. The third single, “Hymn of Decay”, proves that you can slow down the pace without losing any of the musical power. The titles “God Is A Loaded Gun” and “Chapel Paralysis” need no explanation to understand in what sense. Each composition is more devastating than its predecessors, and the end of the album is completely breathless.
Great American Ghost continue their ascent, grabbing you by the collar. Now part of the Sharptone Records stable, we have no doubt that they’ll reach a new audience thirsty for political protest and full of rage. We’re impressed by this powerful album, which won us over from the very first listen.
