C’est dans leur laboratoire musical que Berlial nous annoncent la chute inévitable: celle de l’Homme par l’Homme. L’album s’ouvre sur un contraste surprenant avec “The Last Dance”. Loin des ténèbres immédiates que l’on pourrait attendre, le morceau débute sur des sonorités lumineuses et presque enfantines, avant de basculer dans une frénésie instrumentale bien plus sombre. Tel un enfant basculant dans un cauchemar, Berlial nous oblige à voir que nous courons vers notre perte. Ensuite “Nouveau Monde” joue plutôt sur une première approche religieuse avec le synthé évoquant un orgue. La mélodie nous porte aisément au travers du morceau et l’ajout de textes parlés sur un son bien plus épuré place les paroles au premier plan. La musique fluctue, oscillant entre gravité et envolées plus aériennes, créant un sentiment de malaise presque mystique. Avec “We Deserve To Fall Again”, Berlial renforce son aspect cinématographique : un démarrage lent ponctué d’extraits de discours, puis l’explosion avec une section instrumentale imposante où guitares lourdes et batterie martiale s’entremêlent. La superposition de voix déclamant un discours et de screams en fin de morceau achève de rendre l’expérience oppressante et inéluctable. “Ivresse de la Finitude” nous plonge dans un univers semblable à un film d’horreur dans les premières secondes, le morceau se poursuit ensuite dans un rythme un petit peu plus lent et lourd que le reste de l’album, le chant guide l’entièreté de la chanson.
Le cœur de l’album bat au rythme de son titre éponyme, “Nourishing The Disaster To Come”. Véritable crescendo de puissance, le morceau gagne en intensité jusqu’à atteindre un sentiment d’urgence absolue dans sa seconde moitié. Ici, tout ne semble plus que chaos, tension et anticipation du désastre. Cette tension atteint son point culminant avec “Le Néant Pour Éternité”, une conclusion qui semble suspendue dans le vide. Minimaliste, dominée par des synthés fantomatiques, elle laisse place à un dernier message : l’extrait du monologue culte de Tyler Durden dans Fight Club, dénonçant la société de consommation, avant que des voix robotiques annoncent le changement pour que les guitares menaçantes reprennent le flambeau. Le cri d’un « Pourquoi » achève l’album dans une atmosphère suffocante.
Nourishing The Disaster To Come est un album sombre et implacable. Son mélange d’influences forge un récit où chaque moment contribue à bâtir une atmosphère de fin du monde. Berlial ne s’est pas contenté de faire juste du black metal, ils ont créé une expérience immersive qui nous offre un voyage à travers la déchéance de l’humanité. Une œuvre aussi fascinante que inquiétante, évoquant à la fois l’humanité qui plonge vers le désastre écologique, les guerres qui ravagent déjà le monde ou bien même la colonisation de l’espace.

The album opens with a surprising contrast in “The Last Dance”. Far from the immediate darkness we might expect, the track begins with bright, almost childlike tones, before shifting into a much darker instrumental frenzy. Like a child tumbling into a nightmare, Berlial forces us to see that we’re running towards our doom. Next, “Nouveau Monde” takes a more religious approach, with its organ-like synth. The melody carries us easily through the track, and the addition of spoken texts on a much more pared-down sound brings the lyrics to the fore. The music fluctuates, oscillating between gravity and more ethereal flights, creating an almost mystical sense of unease. With “We Deserve To Fall Again”, Berlial reinforces its cinematic aspect: a slow start punctuated by speech extracts, then the explosion with an imposing instrumental section where heavy guitars and martial drums intermingle. The superimposition of voices declaiming speeches and screams at the end of the track completes the oppressive, inescapable experience. “Ivresse de la Finitude” plunges us into a horror-movie-like universe in the opening seconds, then continues at a slightly slower, heavier pace than the rest of the album, with the vocals guiding the entire song.

This tension culminates in “Le Néant Pour Éternité”, a conclusion that seems to hang in the void. Minimalist, dominated by ghostly synths, it gives way to a final message: an excerpt from Tyler Durden‘s cult monologue in Fight Club, denouncing consumer society, before robotic voices herald change and menacing guitars take up the torch. The cry of “Why?” ends the album in a suffocating atmosphere.
Nourishing The Disaster To Come is a dark, relentless album. Its blend of influences forges a narrative where every moment contributes to building an end-of-the-world atmosphere. Berlial haven’t just made black metal, they’ve created an immersive experience that takes us on a journey through the decay of humanity. The work is as fascinating as it is disturbing, evoking humanity’s plunge into ecological disaster, the wars already ravaging the world and even the colonization of space.
