Après un EP totalement réussi en 2022, les britanniques de Love Is Noise sortent ce 14 février leur tout premier album, To Live In A Different Way, via Century Media, continuant leur aventure entre shoegaze, brit pop, et metalcore. Un beau mélange qui fonctionne du feu de dieu que l’on vous fait découvrir aujourd’hui, pile à temps pour fêter la saint Valentin.

Love Is Noise ont un son assez particulier. Depuis leurs toutes premières sorties, ils construisent un pont entre le shoegaze indie rock assez calme, et toute la scène plus métal. Avec un premier EP signé chez 333 Recordings, c’est dans l’oeil de Century Media qu’ils ont tapé cette fois ci pour leur album, mais pas question de perdre les influences sonores de 333 Recordings qui les ont fait connaitre. « Jawbreaker » en sera le parfait exemple, faisant le lien entre les deux compositions. Et pourtant, vivant comme un ovni au milieu de titre où le shoegaze est roi, on sent que le groupe s’amuse à effacer ces frontières. Le chant screamé, que l’on adore sur le titre « Evelyn », prends parfois une rythmique rap sur « Soft Glow » pour compléter le son de la batterie totalement martelé. Mais derrière ces rythmes plus violents, il y a un vrai univers shoegaze réchauffant l’atmosphère. « Devotion » et « It Hurts To Know You’re There » donnent au indie rock du groupe une vraie matière pour venir se déhancher avec douceur, dans des récits assez doux et beaucoup plus mainstream. Le point le plus lumineux de l’album sera atteint avec « Anemoia » où la guitare folk s’accompagne d’un glockenspiel. On retrouve tout au long de cet album une puissance émotionnelle assez forte. Cameron Humphrey au chant et à la guitare nous rappelle non sans mal toute l’émotion qui ressort des morceaux de la scène post-hardcore dont le morceau final de l’album « Ascending » serre totalement la main.

Love Is Noise nous ont une fois de plus totalement transporté dans leur univers singulier. On retrouve dans les compositions une émotion pure, des superbes moments planants et une puissance avec quelques chants screamés. Une vraie reussite qu’on vous encourage à écouter.

After a totally successful EP in 2022, the British band Love Is Noise are releasing their debut album, To Live In A Different Way, via Century Media on February 14th, continuing their adventure between shoegaze, brit pop and metalcore. It’s a beautiful mix that works like a charm, and we’d like to share it with you today, just in time to celebrate Valentine’s Day.

Love Is Noise have a distinctive sound. Since their very first releases, they’ve been building a bridge between fairly quiet indie rock shoegaze, and the whole more metal scene. With a debut EP signed to 333 Recordings, it’s Century Media’s eye they’ve tapped this time for their album, but there’s no question of losing the 333 Recordings sound influences that made them a household name. “Jawbreaker” is a perfect example of this, linking the two compositions. And yet, living like a UFO in the midst of tracks where shoegaze is king, we sense that the band is having fun blurring these boundaries. The screamed vocals, which we love on “Evelyn”, sometimes take on a rap rhythm on “Soft Glow” to complement the pounding drums. But behind these more violent rhythms, there’s a real shoegaze universe warming the atmosphere. “Devotion” and ‘It Hurts To Know You’re There’ give the band’s indie rock real material to gently wiggle to, in rather softer, much more mainstream narratives. The album’s brightest point is reached with “Anemoia”, where the folk guitar is accompanied by a glockenspiel. The emotional power of this album is strong throughout. Cameron Humphrey on vocals and guitar reminds us, not without difficulty, of all the emotion that emanates from the post-hardcore scene, whose hand is completely gripped by the album’s final track, “Ascending”.

Once again, Love Is Noise have totally transported us into their singular universe. The compositions are full of pure emotion, with superb soaring moments and powerful screamed vocals. A real success that we encourage you to listen to.
