La jeune formation italienne, Rescüe Cat, fondée en 2023, dévoile son premier EP, intitulé Flesh & Weapon, le 14 février, sous le label Time to Kill Productions. Suite à leur prestation remarquée au Venizia Hardcore Fest, les attentes étaient élevées concernant Rescue Cat, comme en témoignent les premiers retours extrêmement positifs.

Dans la continuité de leur dernier EP, le quatuor élargit sa palette de sujets et explore des thématiques plus larges, dépassant la seule défense animale. En effet, les titres « Own Demise » et « End Me, Coward » abordent des sujets tels que les traumas relationnels et la misogynie, tout en s’attaquant à la starification des anciens de la scène. La batterie, notamment, avec ses blast beats parfois excessifs, permet de délivrer toute cette colère avec une intensité remarquable. L’influence metalcore Y2K se fait également ressentir dans certains titres, ce qui positionne le groupe dans le genre du hardcore metallic. Cependant, le groupe n’en reste pas moins capable de proposer des titres plus mélodiques, comme le titre éponyme « Flesh & Weapon ». Vicky et la chanteuse de Sleeping Grace viennent d’unir sur « Mother to no one », une chanson féministe de premier plan qui aborde le fardeau de la maternité sur la femme en général. On soulignera par la même occasion les deux autres featuring de l’EP qui ramène chacun leur univers à savoir un hardcore typé 90/ beatdown pour Jorelia et Norman Bates avec un coté beaucoup plus hardcore ayant des airs de The Chariot.
A noter qu’en cohérence avec leur engagement en faveur de la protection animale, une partie des bénéfices générés par la vente de leurs produits, notamment les vinyles et les CD, sera reversée à une association venant en aide aux chats abandonnés.
En somme, Rescüe Cat a su obtenir un consensus général avec ce premier EP. Les huit morceaux offrent une expérience émotionnelle unique et diversifiée, illustrant la maîtrise des membres dans l’interprétation de thématiques variées.

Following their acclaimed performance at the Venizia Hardcore Fest, expectations were high for Rescue Cat, as evidenced by the extremely positive initial feedback.

Following on from their last EP, the quartet broaden their range of subjects, exploring wider themes beyond animal advocacy. Indeed, tracks such as “Own Demise” and “End Me, Coward” tackle subjects such as relationship trauma and misogyny, while also taking aim at the starification of old-timers. The drums in particular, with their sometimes excessive blast beats, deliver all this anger with remarkable intensity. Y2K’s metalcore influence can also be felt in certain tracks, positioning the band in the metallic hardcore genre. However, the band is also capable of offering more melodic tracks, such as the eponymous “Flesh & Weapon”. Vicky and the singer from Sleeping Grace join forces on “Mother to no one”, a feminist song of the first order that tackles the burden of motherhood on women in general. At the same time, we’d like to highlight the EP’s two other featuring artists, each of whom brings his or her own universe to the table: 90s/beatdown hardcore for Jorelia and Norman Bates with a much more hardcore side reminiscent of The Chariot.
In keeping with their commitment to animal protection, part of the profits generated by the sale of their products, notably vinyls and CDs, will be donated to an association helping abandoned cats.
All in all, Rescüe Cat have achieved a general consensus with this first EP. The eight tracks offer a unique and diverse emotional experience, illustrating the members’ mastery in interpreting a variety of themes.
