Direction le club du Trix pour une date qui respire la violence! En effet grosse date deathcore avec une coheadline de Distant et Enterprise Earth, qui sont en plus accompagnés par The Last Ten Seconds Of Life pour ouvrir la soirée. Après une longue tournée, c’est donc en Belgique que ce voyage touche à sa fin. C’est parti pour une déferlante de gros riffs et de blasts.

La soirée commence avec The Last Ten Seconds Of Life. Le groupe de Pennsylvanie débute fort avec un titre destiné à réveiller le public venu nombreux ce soir. Au chant Tyler Beam est en grande forme et bouge partout sur scène en balançant son chant hurlé bien puissant. La saturation de son micro ajoute à la violence musicale et nous en met plein la vue d’entrée de jeu. Il ne faudra que quelques minutes au public pour se réveiller et se lancer dans les premiers pits de cette soirée. Les morceaux issus de toute la discographie du groupe, même ceux des albums de l’ancien line up, s’enchaînent avec une rapidité folle pour nous en proposer le plus possible dans le temps imparti. La puissance des blasts de Dylan Potts, qui avant même le début du set ventait la force de la grosse caisse, nous retourne les cervicales et permet aux plus téméraires de commencer les moulinets et autres exploits sportifs dans le pit! Pas de répit pour les braves avec les riffs dantesques de Wyatt McLaughlin et les lignes de basse surpuissantes de Andrew Petway. Pour fêter comme il se doit cette fin de tournée, des membres du crew et des autres groupes arrivent sur scène avec des cartons de merch sur la tête et en mettent sur les visages des musiciens pris au dépourvu. C’est donc dans cette ambiance très bon enfant, signe d’une superbe entente entre les formations, que le concert se termine. Le groupe quitte la scène largement applaudi en remerciant le public pour son accueil et son énergie.
C’est au tour de Enterprise Earth de monter sur scène! Autant vous dire que nos derniers concerts du groupe nous sont bien revenus en tête, et qu’on avait hâte de retrouver la formation venue de l’Etat de Washington. C’est parti pour quasi une heure de deathcore d’anthologie avec « Reanimate // Desintegrate » qui met tout le monde d’accord et qui relance le pit comme il se doit. Les riffs de Gabe Mangold en mettent plein la vue, tout comme ses soli impressionnants de maîtrise. Sur « Spineless » on a la chance de pouvoir se prendre en pleine face l’incroyable section rythmique portée par Dakota Johnson à la basse et Aron Hetsko à la batterie. C’est simple si vos cervicales étaient encore en bon état, vous pouvez maintenant prendre rendez-vous chez votre ostéopathe favori. Le pit ne cesse de prendre en intensité, chose étonnante à Anvers, et « I, The Descent » ne calmera pas le jeu. Le groupe n’hésite pas à piocher dans toute sa discographie pour faire plaisir aux fans présents, et on est ravis de pouvoir retrouver des titres comme « The Failsafe Fallacy » issu de l’album Luciferous (2019). Evidemment comment ne pas évoquer la performance tout simplement stratosphérique de Travis Worland au chant! Chaque titre est l’occasion pour lui de nous présenter sa palette vocale venue tout droit des enfers, et nous emporter avec ses growls prêts à réveiller tous les cimetières du coin. Comme toujours notre cage thoracique vibre à plein régime, tant le chant est intense. « III. Shadows below » mais surtout « Psalm Of Agony » illustreront parfaitement ça avec une fois de plus un ensemble musical de haut vol. Après cinquante minutes qu’on a pas vu passer, le groupe quitte la scène avec en dernier cadeau « You Couldn’t Save Me » issu de leur album de 2022. Encore une fois nous voilà transportés dans les tréfonds de la planète avec ce titre qu’on aime tant. C’est encore une fois une performance ahurissante qu’ont livré les américains de Enterprise Earth, et on espère les revoir très très vite en Europe pour une nouvelle tournée!
Pour clore cette soirée comme il se doit c’est au tour des slovako-néerlandais de Distant de monter sur la scène. Le groupe ,venu pour nous présenter son album Tsukuyomi: The Origin composé de morceaux des débuts du groupe totalement retravaillées ainsi que d’inédits, démarre son set en trombes avec « The Pale Moonlight »! Comme pour les sets précédents, la formation n’a pas prévu de faire dans la dentelle, et les riffs et rythmiques à vous retourner le cerveau s’enchaînent sans discontinuer. Dès le troisième titre on retrouve Travis Worland au chant, qui vient mêler ses cris à ceux tout aussi puissants de Alan Grnja. Ce dernier, absolument impérial tout au long du set nous présentera toutes sa palettes de cris, des plus aigus aux plus caverneux, toujours avec autant de talent. « Loveless Suffering » et « Heirs Of Torment » laissent à Rene Gerbrandij l’occasion de marteler ses fûts comme si sa vie en dépendait. Le côté downtempo du groupe vient se faire contrebalancer par les riffs surpuissants des guitaristes, tous au sommet de leur art ce soir. Le show défile à une vitesse folle, mais la formation n’oublie pas de ravir ses fans avec des titres du reste de sa discographie, comme l’excellent « Exofilth » issu de l’album Heritage (2023). On sent que le public donne tout ce soir et le groupe semble ravi par cet accueil des voisins belges. « Oedipism » continue de nous conter dans des histoires biens sombres avant que les riffs de « Hellmøuth » nous emmènent tout droit dans le monde d’Hadès. Il reste seulement deux titres à se mettre sous la dent, mais pas des moindres! En effet, le groupe termine son set en enchaînant « Born Of Blood » et « Endgame » pour une dernière avalanche de riffs et de rythmiques imparables et par une dernière démonstration vocale d’Alan. On ne pouvait rêver plus belle fin pour cette soirée. Distant on encore une fois prouvé qu’ils sont un des groupes de deathcore les plus passionnants à suivre au fil des années. On quitte la salle ravis et prêt à remettre ça au plus vite!

Head to the Trix club for a date that exudes violence! It’s a big deathcore date with a coheadline from Distant and Enterprise Earth, who are joined by The Last Ten Seconds Of Life to open the evening. After a long tour, the trip comes to an end in Belgium. It’s time for a barrage of big riffs and blasts.

The evening kicks off with The Last Ten Seconds Of Life. The Pennsylvania band got off to a strong start with a track designed to wake up the large crowd. Tyler Beam is in top form on vocals, moving all over the stage with his powerful screamed vocals. The saturation of his microphone adds to the musical violence and is a real eye-opener from the outset. It only took a few minutes for the crowd to wake up and get into the first pits of the evening. Tracks from the whole of the band’s discography, even those from the albums of the previous line-up, were played at breakneck speed to give us as much as possible in the allotted time. The power of Dylan Potts‘ blasts, which even before the start of the set were extolling the virtues of the bass drum, were a real head-turner, and allowed the more daring to start reeling and performing other sporting feats in the pit! There’s no rest for the brave with Wyatt McLaughlin‘s Dantesque riffs and Andrew Petway’s overpowering bass lines. To celebrate the end of the tour in style, members of the crew and the other bands arrived on stage with boxes of merchandise on their heads, shoving it in the faces of the musicians who’d been caught off guard. So it was in this good-natured atmosphere, a sign of the superb understanding between the bands, that the concert came to an end. The band left the stage to rapturous applause, thanking the audience for their welcome and energy.
It’s Enterprise Earth‘s turn on stage! We can’t wait to catch up with the band from Washington State, as we’ve all been reminded of their last few gigs. ‘Reanimate // Desintegrate’ kicks things off with almost an hour’s worth of anthology deathcore, getting everyone on the same wavelength and reviving the pit as it should be. Gabe Mangold‘s riffs are a sight to behold, as are his impressively masterful solos. On ‘Spineless’, we’re lucky enough to get a good look at the incredible rhythm section led by Dakota Johnson on bass and Aron Hetsko on drums. If your neck was still in good shape, you can now book an appointment with your favourite osteopath. The pit never ceases to grow in intensity, which is surprising in Antwerp, and ‘I, The Descent’ doesn’t calm things down. The band don’t hesitate to dip into their entire discography to please the fans in attendance, and we’re delighted to be able to find tracks like ‘The Failsafe Fallacy’ from the album Luciferous (2019). And of course, there’s no getting away from Travis Worland‘s simply stratospheric performance on vocals! Each track is an opportunity for him to show us his vocal palette, straight from the underworld, and take us away with his growls, ready to wake up any cemetery in the area. As always, the vocals are so intense that our ribcage vibrates at full throttle. ‘III. Shadows below’ and especially “Psalm Of Agony” illustrate this perfectly, with once again a musical ensemble of the highest order. After fifty minutes that we haven’t seen go by, the band leave the stage with ‘You Couldn’t Save Me’ from their 2022 album as their final gift. Once again we’re transported to the depths of the planet with this song we love so much. Once again the Americans of Enterprise Earth put in a staggering performance, and we hope to see them back in Europe very soon for another tour!
To round off the evening in style, it’s the turn of Slovak-Dutch band Distant to take to the stage. The band, who have come to present their album Tsukuyomi: The Origin, featuring completely reworked tracks from the band’s early days as well as previously unreleased material, kick off their set with a bang with ‘The Pale Moonlight’! As with their previous sets, the band are not planning to cut any corners, and the brain-bending riffs and rhythms follow one another non-stop. The third track finds Travis Worland on vocals, mixing his screams with those of Alan Grnja, who is just as powerful. Alan, absolutely imperial throughout the set, will show us his full range of screams, from the highest to the most cavernous, as talented as ever. ‘Loveless Suffering’ and “Heirs Of Torment” give Rene Gerbrandij the chance to hammer his drums as if his life depended on it. The downtempo side of the band is counterbalanced by the overpowering riffs of the guitarists, all at the top of their game tonight. The show went by at breakneck speed, but the band didn’t forget to delight their fans with tracks from the rest of their discography, such as the excellent ‘Exofilth’ from the Heritage album (2023). The crowd seemed to be giving their all this evening, and the band seemed delighted by the welcome they received from their Belgian neighbours. ‘Oedipism’ continues to tell dark tales before the riffs of “Hellmøuth” take us straight into the world of Hades. There are just two tracks left to get to grips with, and they’re not the least of them! The band ended their set with ‘Born Of Blood’ and ‘Endgame’, a final avalanche of unstoppable riffs and rhythms, and a final vocal demonstration from Alan. It was a fitting end to the evening. Distant have once again proved that they are one of the most exciting deathcore bands to follow over the years. We left the venue delighted and ready to do it all over again as soon as possible!
