Le groupe lillois d’indie rock Attic Birds, nous propose après un EP et un premier album studio de découvrir six nouveaux titres dans leur tout nouvel EP. Intitulé Beyond The Waves, il sera disponible le 14 mars en autoproduction. Amateurs de belles guitares, d’harmonies vocales et d’émotions musicales nous vous invitons à plonger avec nous dans ce nouveau disque de la formation.

L’EP s’ouvre sur le single « Don’t Hold Me Back » et sa guitare solaire avec un chant qui nous rappelle rapidement des groupes comme Franz Ferdinand. Les claviers très présents renforcent l’immersion et le refrain entrainant nous reste rapidement en tête. La force de composition du groupe se confirme dans les deux titres suivants où riffs, rythmiques et harmonies vocales sont toujours très présents pour notre plus grand bonheur. « No Time » nous renvoie aux années 2000 quand le titre « Fallin » nous renvoie plus à la décennie suivante, signe que le groupe pioche des influences dans le meilleur du rock qui a forgé notre amour pour cette musique, avec en bonus une petite disto sur les claviers qui nous enchante totalement. Une voix féminine vient s’ajouter sur « Feel The Love » dans un titre qui sent bon les vacances et le soleil avec ses rythmes entrainants. Les chœurs et harmonies vocales très présents sur le disque, prennent encore plus de place dans le refrain de « Invisible People », titre étonnement dansant malgré son titre et porté par des claviers impressionnants. Le voyage musical arrive déjà à sa fin, mais « New Start » nous annonce qu’il peut recommencer très rapidement. La chant nous captive renforcé par des chœurs d’enfants et le retour de cette voix féminine très douce. Ce morceau nous colle définitivement des frissons et nous fait terminer l’EP sur une belle note d’émotion, même si chaque titre proposé dans cette nouvelle sortie n’en a pas manqué!
Avec Beyond The Waves, Attic Birds montrent que l’indie rock a encore de très belles heures devant lui. En piochant des influences dans plusieurs projets ayant marqué la musique de ce début de millénaire, les lillois se créent leur propre univers qui nous enchante clairement et qui nous donne envie de replonger dans cet EP au plus vite. On espère que cette nouvelle sortie leur donnera l’occasion de se produire en live le plus possible. After an EP and a debut studio album, Lille indie rock band Attic Birds are releasing six new tracks on their brand new EP. Entitled Beyond The Waves, it will be released directly by the band on March 14th. If you’re a fan of beautiful guitars, vocal harmonies and musical emotion, we invite you to join us in diving into this new album from the band.
The EP opens with the single ‘Don’t Hold Me Back’ and its solar guitar and vocals that quickly remind us of bands like Franz Ferdinand. The keyboards add to the immersion and the catchy chorus quickly gets stuck in your head. The band’s compositional strength is confirmed on the next two tracks, where riffs, rhythms and vocal harmonies are still very much in evidence, much to our delight. ‘No Time’ takes us back to the 2000s, while “Fallin” is more reminiscent of the following decade, a sign that the band are drawing influences from the best of the rock that forged our love of this music, with the added bonus of a little distortion on the keyboards that totally delights us. A female vocalist joins in on ‘Feel The Love’ for a track that smacks of holidays and sunshine, with its catchy rhythms. The choirs and vocal harmonies, which are very present on the album, take on even greater prominence in the chorus of ‘Invisible People’, a surprisingly danceable track despite its title, driven by impressive keyboards. The musical journey is already coming to an end, but ‘New Start’ tells us that it can start again very quickly. The captivating vocals are reinforced by children’s choirs and the return of the gentle female voice. This track definitely sends shivers down our spines, and ends the EP on an emotional note, even if every track on this new release has been full of emotion!
With Beyond The Waves, Attic Birds show that indie rock still has a long way to go. Drawing influences from a number of projects that have left their mark on the music of this new millennium, the Lille-based band have created their own universe, which is clearly enchanting and makes us want to dive back into this EP as soon as possible.
