Ce 4 avril, le tout premier album d’Inner Cabala nous venant des Pays-Bas, d’Italie et de Roumanie verra le jour. Intitulé We Are Solitude, il sortira en autoproduction, et vous promets un très beau moment de post métal et métal progressif.

La musique d’Inner Cabala est un véritable bouquet de sonorités diverses. Pas question pour le groupe de se cantonner à une étiquette de metal progressif, même si c’est clairement le style principal qui en ressort de l’écoute de l’album. Ce prog métal va jongler sur d’autres styles pour en faire une oeuvre très intéressante. L’atmosphére du shoegaze tout d’abord plane sur le titre « Crippled Reality », pour une chanson d’amour qui s’annonce calme aux premiers abords, mais qui s’emporte dans des refrains puissants jusqu’à une clôture où les riffs de guitares s’emportent. Chaque morceau est chanté par Pim Limburg, alternant entre chant clair, pouvant clairement rejoindre un groupe de hard rock dans son style de chant, notamment sur le morceau « Feathers », et chant hurlé pouvant tenir de longues secondes comme sur l’impressionnant « Hollow ». Côté batterie, Carlo Belloni nous propose un exercice de rythme, comme tout bon batteur de prog. Et pourtant, c’est le rythme de « Mediocrity Divides I » qui va retenir notre attention. Rajouter une note de tom et vous avez un beau rythme reggaeton qui apparait. Ce genre de fantaisie qui marche à la perfection ! Le groupe s’aventure également dans le post métal, où le scream est beaucoup plus puissant, et les guitares transpercantes, comme sur « The Remnant » ou « Mediocrity Divides II » nous rappelant certaines compositions de Hippotraktor. Le chant se verra transformé sur « Of Time Rejoiced » par un mégaphone pour un discours puissant, pendant que la basse de Sid Poinaru  tapisse les murs pour un fond musical captivant.

Inner Cabala nous proposent avec We Are Solitude un album très intéressant et assez prometteur. Le groupe sait s’affranchir des règles du genre qui leur est propre pour des compositions riches et qui s’annonce folle en live. Un premier album captivant que l’on vous conseille fortement.

On April 4th, Inner Cabala’s debut album from the Netherlands, Italy and Romania will see the light of day. Entitled We Are Solitude, it will be released as a self-production project, and promises a beautiful moment of post-metal and progressive metal.

Inner Cabala‘s music is a veritable bouquet of diverse sounds. There’s no question of the band sticking to a progressive metal label, even if this is clearly the main style that emerges from listening to the album. This prog metal juggles other styles to create a very interesting work. The atmosphere of shoegaze hovers over the title track, “Crippled Reality”, for a love song that sounds calm at first, but then builds to powerful choruses and a closing where the guitar riffs get carried away. Each track is sung by Pim Limburg, alternating between clear vocals – which could clearly join a hard rock band in its singing style, notably on the track “Feathers” – and screamed vocals that can last for long seconds, as on the impressive “Hollow”. On the drums, Carlo Belloni offers us an exercise in rhythm, like any good prog drummer. Yet it’s the rhythm of “Mediocrity Divides I” that really grabs our attention. Add a tom note and you have a beautiful reggaeton rhythm. The kind of fantasy that works perfectly! The band also ventures into post-metal, where the scream is much more powerful, and the guitars piercing, as on “The Remnant” or « Mediocrity Divides II » reminding us of certain Hippotraktor compositions. The vocals are transformed on “Of Time Rejoiced” by a megaphone for a powerful delivery, while Sid Poinaru‘s bass lends a captivating musical backdrop.

Inner Cabala’s We Are Solitude is a very interesting and promising album. The band know how to break free from the rules of their own genre to create rich compositions that promise to be wild live. A captivating debut album that we highly recommend.
