Pour célébrer la sortie de l’EP Lifelines, Stuck in Yesterday a investi la scène du Black Lab, lors d’une de leurs fameuses soirées “The Good The Bad and The Local” qui mettent à l’honneur des formations nordistes. A leur côté pour cette soirée sous le thème du punk rock, les autres Lillois de Flashin News.

Il est 20h pétantes lorsque le pop punk vient prendre place sur la célèbre scène de The Black Lab. Entre habitués, connaisseurs du groupe et curieux, chacun porte une attention au groupe dès les premières notes. Toutes les tables sont prises, et une petite fosse se crée à l’avant. Après avoir démarré avec “Her Reality”, le groupe se présente et enchaîne avec “Charming Snakes”, titre très efficace de leur récent EP. Sans révolutionner le genre, cela fait un bien fou de voir un groupe de pop punk qualitatif et jeune , sur scène, en 2025. C’est rafraichissant, énergique, ça donne envie de sourire et de danser, et c’est tout ce qu’on demande! On se croit revenu au début des années 2000 le temps d’un concert. Stuck in Yesterday nous offre un inédit avec “Kaiju”. “Endless Summer” nous amène tout droit en Californie, au bord d’un skate parc ensoleillé, auprès des plus grands. Le groupe agrémente son set de quelques cover, à l’instar de “My Friends Over You” de New Found Glory. L’entièreté des titres de Lifeline est jouée ce soir. “One Step at a Time” nous offre une petite balade au milieu des rythmes très festifs. On retrouve avec plaisir le medley qui nous avait déjà enchanté lors du précédent passage de Stuck in Yesterday au Black Lab, en septembre 2023. On sent le groupe plus à l’aise sur scène. Pierre (chant) arpente la scène, se pose par moments pour passer un temps à chaque endroit de la scène. Il rejoint même la fosse et monte sur la table pour un happening réussi. A main levée, on se rend compte qu’une belle proportion du public présent a déjà écouté l’EP. “Basket Case” et “All the Small Things” viennent clore le set.
On a pu constater toute l’évolution du groupe dans son aspect scénique, mais également pu se rendre compte de l’efficacité des titres de LifeLines en live. Nous avons passé un très chouette moment festif avec Stuck in Yesterday, qui donne envie de se replonger dans les titres de notre adolescence!
On découvre ensuite Flashin News, groupe de punk rock lillois. La formation a sorti son premier album, The OP-ED, en janvier 2025. Le groupe met l’ambiance dans la salle, de nombreuses personnes étant spécialement venues assister à leur prestation. Au fur et à mesure du set, le groupe nous propose des titres aux influences diverses. On retrouve des airs de Johnny Mafia, The Clash ou de Burning Heads par exemple, sans jamais tomber dans le plagiat. Des rythmiques ska viennent nous surprendre. On retrouve des riffs évoquant le rock des années 80, et même des petites touches de rock’n roll old school. L’ensemble est sympathique, en place, et le son est correct. En revanche, on peine à trouver l’âme du groupe et son identité propre. Chaque titre est intéressant mais on avoue se perdre un peu dans une si grande diversité. Toutefois le public, danse, bouge. Flashin’ News met l’ambiance que l’on apprécie retrouver lors de ces soirées qui mettent à l’honneur des groupes locaux. Pari réussi donc!
The Black Lab nous a encore régalé (au sens littéral aussi car leur cuisine est incroyable!) avec cette soirée “The Good, The Bad and The Local”. Cela permet à des formations locales de profiter de conditions professionnelles, et de retrouver nos petits groupes favoris sur une grande scène. L’ambiance était très bon enfant, et les prestations tout à fait réussies! On ne peut que vous conseiller de vous rendre à ces soirées gratuites pour y (re)découvrir des formations locales.
To celebrate the release of their Lifelines EP, Stuck in Yesterday took to the Black Lab stage for one of their famous “The Good The Bad and The Local” evenings, featuring bands from Northern France. Joining them for this punk rock-themed evening were the other Lille-based members of Flashin News.

It’s 8 p.m. sharp when pop punk take to the famous stage at The Black Lab. Between regulars, band connoisseurs and the curious, everyone pays attention to the band from the very first notes. All the tables are taken, and a small pit forms at the front. After kicking off with “Her Reality”, the band introduce themselves and follow up with “Charming Snakes”, a highly effective track from their recent EP. Without revolutionizing the genre, it’s great to see a qualitative, young pop punk band on stage in 2025. It’s refreshing, energetic, makes you want to smile and dance, and that’s all we ask! It’s like being back in the early 2000s for the duration of a concert. Stuck in Yesterday offers us a previously unreleased track with “Kaiju”. “Endless Summer” takes us straight to California, to the edge of a sun-drenched skate park, with the greatest of them all. The band adds a few covers to their set, such as New Found Glory’s “My Friends Over You”. All Lifeline tracks are played tonight. “One Step at a Time” takes us on a stroll through the festive rhythms. We’re delighted to find the medley that enchanted us during Stuck in Yesterday‘s previous appearance at the Black Lab, in September 2023. The band is now more at ease on stage. Pierre (vocals) strolls around the stage, pausing at times to spend some time in each area. He even joins the pit and climbs on the table for a successful happening. A show of hands reveals that a good proportion of the audience has already heard the EP. “Basket Case” and ‘All the Small Things’ brought the set to a close.
The band’s on-stage evolution was evident, as was the effectiveness of LifeLines’ live tracks. We had a great time with Stuck in Yesterday, which makes you want to go back to your teenage years!
Next up is Flashin News, a punk rock band from Lille. The band released their debut album, The OP-ED, in January 2025. The band set the mood in the room, with many people having come especially to see their performance. As the set progressed, the band played a variety of tracks with different influences. There are hints of Johnny Mafia, The Clash and Burning Heads, for example, without ever lapsing into plagiarism. Ska rhythms surprise us. There are riffs reminiscent of ’80s rock, and even touches of old-school rock’n’roll. The whole thing is nice and in place, and the sound is decent. On the other hand, it’s hard to find the band’s soul and its own identity. Each track is interesting, but we admit to getting a little lost in the sheer diversity. Nevertheless, the audience dances and moves. Flashin’ News sets the mood we’ve come to expect from these evenings, which feature local bands. A successful bet!
The Black Lab has once again delighted us (literally too, as their cuisine is incredible!) with its “The Good, The Bad and The Local” evening. This allows local bands to benefit from professional conditions, and to meet up with our favorite small groups on a big stage. The atmosphere was very good-natured, and the performances were a complete success! We can’t recommend these free evenings enough to (re)discover local bands.
