Direction Roubaix et la superbe salle de la Condition Publique pour une soirée en compagnie du collectif reaggae et hip-hop de L’Entourloop qui nous avait clairement marqué lors de son passage au Zénith de Lille il y a quelques années. C’est accompagnés de Fatbabs, dj et beatmeaker bien connu des scènes reggae pour avoir travaillé avec Naâman pendant de nombreuses années. C’est dans une salle en train de se remplir tout doucement, mais qui est annoncée sold out que nous arrivons avec la furieuse envie de danser.

On commence donc avec Fatbabs qui vient s’installer derrière ses platines en nous remerciant d’entrée d’être venus si tôt pour voir son set. C’est parti pour un mix de reggae et de hip-hop bien senti qui montre tous les talents de beatmeaker et de DJ de notre hôte. Sur l’avant de sa table est placé un drap avec le nom This Love Is Forever, ce qui s’avère être le nom de son album à venir dont il interprètera quelques titres ce soir. Il sera rejoint sur scène à plusieurs reprises par Davojah, artiste reggae venu tout droit de Perpignan, qui n’hésitera pas à chauffer le public en compagnie de Fatbabs et à nous montrer ses talents de chanteur. Evidemment Naâman disparu il y a quelques semaines est au coeur du set de Fatbabs qui lui rendra un vibrant hommage tout au long de sa performance. C’est avec grand plaisir qu’on retrouve ces morceaux remplis de bonnes ondes qui font clairement du bien dans ce monde si sombre. Le public est très réceptif et reprend en chœur les paroles. Après quelques inédits supplémentaires et des morceaux plus hip-hop venus rejoindre le mix, Fatbabs remercie L’Entourloop de l’avoir invité et nous quitte avec un dernier titre qui nous fera danser une fois de plus. Quelle belle entrée en matière pour cette soirée avec un set qui respire la camaraderie et les souvenirs joyeux d’une collaboration qui a duré de nombreuses années et donné des morceaux inoubliables qui ont fait virer le public aussi bien sur album que sur scène. On hésitera pas une seconde à aller écouter le nouveau projet du beatmeaker dès sa sortie.
Petite pause pour aller prendre un rafraichissement au bar avant l’arrivée des tant attendus L’Entourloop sur la scène. La lumière s’éteint et les deux beatmakers du collectif débarquent derrière leurs platines. Avec leur look de vieux dandys ils nous lancent tout de suite dans leur univers avec leurs morceaux dansants à souhait et leur écran en fond de scène qui renforce l’immersion dans leur set. Au début du set l’artiste Royx vient installer des cubes lumineux, comme si la scène n’était pas totalement complète, ce moment étonnant montre à quel point le collectif pense à tout pour rendre son show le plus étonnant possible d’entrée de jeu. Rapidement le reste du collectif rejoindra la scène pour des prestations vocales toutes plus captivantes les unes que les autres. Le public n’en demandait pas tant et se donne à fond pour réserver un accueil digne de la légende du public du Nord au collectif. Sir Johnny et King James sont dans une forme olympique et l’un d’eux n’hésitera d’ailleurs pas à monter à de nombreuses reprises sur la grande table de mixage pour quelques pas de danse. Au chant Troy Berkley, Blabbermouf et Flavia Coelho font également des merveilles en chantant seul.e.s et en duo ou en trio. L’énergie qui se dégage de leurs prestations est inouïe, et la jauge sonore s’affichant à l’écran n’a clairement aucun mal à se remplir vu la réponse du public de Roubaix. Le collectif n’hésite pas à mixer ses titres avec d’autres classiques comme un petit extrait de « Ma Benz » de NTM qui étonnera tout le monde. Bien évidemment on navigue dans toute la discographie du collectif tout au long du set pour le plus grand plaisir fans qui retrouveront tous un de leurs titres favoris ce soir. La force de L’Entourloop c’est ce mélange de mix de haute volée et de chant captivant, et autant dire que ce mélange vient réchauffer nos cœurs une fois de plus. Impossible de ne pas être ravis par ce qui se déroule sous nos yeux ce soir tant c’est un véritable festival de talents combinés pour proposer un set passionnant de bout en bout. Les rythmes reggae et hip-hop se mêlent toujours avec autant de fluidité grâce au travail des deux beatmaker. On ne voit pas le temps passer et le temps des derniers titres de la soirée arrive vite avec toujours une fusion totale entre la scène et le public. C’est sous de longs applaudissements que le collectif quitte la scène visiblement ravis par l’accueil qui leur a été réservé ce soir.
Cette soirée a clairement tenue toutes ses promesses avec L’Entourloop et Fatbabs qui ont livré des sets marquants et captivants de bout en bout. Le partage et la communion musicale étaient clairement au coeur des prestations et c’est clairement ce qu’on retiendra de cette soirée: le partage! Bravo aux artistes et au public pour cette ambiance électrique tout du long. On quitte la salle conquis une fois de plus!

Head for Roubaix and the superb La Condition Publique venue for an evening in the company of the reaggae and hip-hop collective L’Entourloop, who made quite an impression on us when they played at Lille’s Zénith a few years back. They were accompanied by Fatbabs, a dj and beatmeaker well known on the reggae scene for having worked with Naâman for many years. The venue is slowly filling up, but is announced as sold out, and we arrive with a furious desire to dance.
So we start off with Fatbabs, who settles down behind his turntables to thank us for coming so early to see his set. And off we go with a mix of reggae and hip-hop that shows off all our host’s beat-making and DJing talents. On the front of his table is a cloth with the name This Love Is Forever, which turns out to be the name of his forthcoming album, a few tracks from which he will be performing this evening. He will be joined on stage several times by Davojah, a reggae artist straight from Perpignan, who will not hesitate to warm up the audience in the company of Fatbabs and show us his singing talents. Of course, Naâman, who passed away a few weeks ago, is at the heart of Fatbabs‘ set, and he will be paying tribute to him throughout his performance. It’s with great pleasure that we find these songs full of good vibes that clearly do good in this dark world. The audience was very receptive, singing along to the lyrics. After a few more unreleased tracks and some more hip-hop numbers in the mix, Fatbabs thanks L’Entourloop for inviting him and leaves us with a final track that will have us dancing once again. What a great start to the evening, with a set that exudes camaraderie and happy memories of a collaboration that lasted for many years and produced unforgettable tracks that had the audience going wild both on album and on stage. We won’t hesitate for a second to go and listen to the beatmeaker’s new project as soon as it’s released.
A quick break for refreshments at the bar before the arrival of the long-awaited L’Entourloop on stage. The lights go down and the two beatmakers from the collective take to the decks. With their old dandy looks, they immediately launch us into their universe with their danceable tracks and their screen at the back of the stage which reinforces the immersion in their set. At the start of their set, artist Royx set up luminous cubes, as if the stage wasn’t quite complete. This astonishing moment shows just how much thought the collective put into making their show as captivating as possible from the outset. The rest of the collective soon took to the stage to deliver a series of captivating vocal performances. The audience couldn’t have asked for more, and gave their all to give the collective a reception worthy of the legendary northern audience. Sir Johnny and King James were in top form, and one of them didn’t hesitate to get up on the big mixing desk for a few dance steps. On vocals Troy Berkley, Blabbermouf and Flavia Coelho also work wonders, singing alone and in duet or trio. The energy that emanates from their performances is incredible, and the sound gauge on the screen clearly has no trouble filling up given the response from the Roubaix audience. The collective didn’t hesitate to mix their tracks with other classics, such as a short extract from NTM‘s ‘Ma Benz’, which surprised everyone. Of course, the whole of the collective’s discography is played throughout the set, much to the delight of the fans, who will all find one of their favourite tracks this evening. L’Entourloop‘s strength lies in their blend of high-flying mixes and captivating vocals, and it’s fair to say that this mix will warm our hearts once again. It’s impossible not to be thrilled by what’s unfolding before our eyes this evening, as it’s a veritable festival of talent combined to deliver an exciting set from start to finish. The reggae and hip-hop rhythms blend as fluidly as ever, thanks to the work of the two beatmakers. Time flew by, and it wasn’t long before the final tracks of the evening were played, with a total fusion between the stage and the audience. The collective left the stage to rapturous applause, clearly delighted by the reception they had received this evening.
The evening clearly lived up to its promise, with L’Entourloop and Fatbabs delivering captivating sets from start to finish. Sharing and musical communion were clearly at the heart of the performances, and that’s clearly what we’ll remember about this evening: sharing! Well done to the artists and the audience for the electric atmosphere throughout. Once again, we left the venue amzed once again!
