Dans le cadre de notre partenariat avec le DITEP La Cordée, deux adolescents ont eu l’opportunité d’assister au concert de Cola le 12 juin dernier à L‘Aéronef. Ils nous racontent : Nous nous sommes rendus au concert des Canadiens de Cola, accompagnés des anglais de Honeyglaze en première partie. Cette soirée avait lieu à l’Aéronef, en mode Club. Équipe exceptionnelle, ce sont Ilan et Stéphano, dans le cadre du projet culture, qui vous racontent cet événement!

Le public arrive doucement, au cours du concert de Honeyglaze. Tim Curtis (basse) démarre en jouant avec un archer sur sa basse. Anouska Sokolow, chanteuse et également guitariste, pose sa voix sur le rythme assuré par Yuri Shibuichi (batterie). Le groupe tente de nous remercier en français, plus ou moins maîtrisé. Le reste de la communication se fera en anglais. Il s’agit ce soir du dernier concert de leur tournée. Leur musique assez moderne dans la construction séduit un public plutôt jeune. Pour les personnes sensibles à leurs compositions, on est pris par les mélodies et rythmes qui se répètent, telles des boucles. Les paroles sont poétiques et imagées, leur donnant un aspect léger. L’ambiance est détendue et chill. Le groupe semble prendre plaisir à être sur scène et à partager ses compositions avec le public lillois. Le conducteur du bus vient rejoindre le groupe lors de l’avant dernier titre, se mettant à la basse, avec un certain talent. Le niveau de ces artistes était clairement convaincant. Le concert de Honeyglaze était prenant, et même qualifié d’incroyable par certains!
Les Canadiens de Cola montent sur scène face à une salle bien remplie. D’entrée de jeu, on ressent une puissance marquée dans leurs compositions. Leur façon d’être est en adéquation avec cette énergie. Le public leur rend, avec des danses, des acclamations et des sourires. Le groupe fait ce soir son premier passage sur Lille. Plusieurs photographes sont venus immortaliser ce moment. Le groupe cumule presque 90 000 écoutes mensuelles sur les plateformes. On sent l’expérience, et les petits bugs techniques sont vite résolus. Tim Darcy (chant et guitare) attire le regard par son jeu de scène. Ben Stidworthy assure la basse avec brio tandis que Evan Cartwright, plus en retrait, tape sur ses fûts. Le groupe nous offre en live son nouveau titre “Mendicant”, paru début mai. On sent des influences anglo-saxonnes dans les compositions de Cola. Leur rock indé est prenant. “Albatross” est un titre particulièrement marquant, issu de leur album The Gloss. Il est d’ailleurs très représenté dans la setlist de ce soir. Certains restent scotchés devant la scène, happés par le tonus, la vitalité, les mélodies et la présence scénique du groupe. Leur merchandising attire l’œil et donne envie. Dans la fosse ça danse sur les titres. Après une petite heure, le groupe quitte la scène et est évidemment rappelé par le public.
Pour notre équipe de ce soir, il s’agissait d’une découverte live. Le style n’est pas forcément le plus écouté par notre génération mais les groupes ont su nous convaincre par leurs talents. Les deux groupes ont d’ailleurs rejoint nos playlists! Entre la douceur de Honeyglaze et l’énergie plus brute de Cola, chacun a pu trouver son compte durant la soirée.

A Propos du DITEP La Cordée : Le service adolescents du DITEP La Cordée accueille 25 adolescents de 12 à 16 ans. L’équipe pluridisciplinaire accompagne les jeunes dans un projet global, notamment dans le domaine de l’inclusion scolaire et sociale. Sounding Shivers s’associe avec le DITEP La Cordée afin de proposer aux adolescents de s’aventurer dans le journalisme musical au travers d’un projet culturel.

The audience arrives slowly, during the Honeyglaze concert. Tim Curtis (bass) kicks things off by playing an archer on his bass. Anouska Sokolow, singer and guitarist, lays her voice over the rhythm set by Yuri Shibuichi (drums). The band try to thank us in French, with varying degrees of fluency. The rest of the communication is in English. Tonight is the last concert of their tour. Their fairly modern music appeals to a fairly young audience. If you’re sensitive to their compositions, you’ll be taken in by the melodies and rhythms that repeat like loops. The lyrics are poetic and imaginative, giving them a light-hearted feel. The atmosphere is relaxed and chill. The band seem to enjoy being on stage and sharing their compositions with the Lille audience. Their bus driver joined the band on the penultimate track, playing bass with a certain talent. The level of musicianship of these artists was clearly convincing. Honeyglaze‘s concert was gripping, and even described as incredible by some!
The Canadians from Cola take to the stage in front of a packed house. From the outset, you can feel the power of their compositions. Their energy is matched by the way they carry themselves. The audience gives them their all, dancing, cheering and smiling. Tonight is the band’s first appearance in Lille. Several photographers turned up to capture the moment. The group has racked up almost 90,000 listens a month on the various platforms. You can feel the experience, and the little technical bugs are quickly solved. Tim Darcy (vocals and guitar) catches the eye with his stage presence. Ben Stidworthy plays bass brilliantly, while Evan Cartwright taps his drums from the background. The band played live their new track “Mendicant”, released at the beginning of May. You can feel the Anglo-Saxon influences in Cola‘s compositions. Their indie rock is captivating. ‘Albatross’ is a particularly striking track, taken from their album The Gloss. In fact, it features heavily in tonight’s setlist. The band’s energy, vitality, melodies and stage presence have left some people glued to the stage. Their merchandising is a real eye-catcher. In the pit, people dance to the songs. After an hour or so, the band left the stage and were obviously called back by the audience.
For our team this evening, it was a live discovery. The style is not necessarily the most listened to by our generation, but the bands convinced us with their talent. In fact, both bands have joined our playlists! Between the mellowness of Honeyglaze and the more raw energy of Cola, there was something for everyone during the evening.
About DITEP La Cordée: The DITEP La Cordée teenagers’ service takes in 25 teenagers aged 12 to 16. The multi-disciplinary team supports the young people in their overall project, particularly in the area of educational and social inclusion. Sounding Shivers has teamed up with DITEP La Cordée to offer teenagers the chance to try their hand at music journalism through a cultural project.
