Petit voyage express à Paris pour un concert qu’on ne pouvais décemment pas manquer! En effet ce soir Howard font la release party de leur album Oscillations sorti en mars dernier à Petit Bain. Pour fêter ça de la plus belle des manières ils ont invité Decasia à ouvrir cette soirée. C’est donc prêts pour une belle soirée de rock que nous nous rendons aux abords de la Seine pour profiter de ce concert qui s’annonce déjà inoubliable!

Les lumières s’éteignent, l’écran en fond de scène s’allume et c’est parti pour l’arrivée de Decasia sur la scène. Les trois musiciens vont d’entrée nous plonger dans leur univers psyché à souhait autant en musique que via le visuel derrière eux. L’énergie communicative du trio prend le public parisien d’entrée de jeu, et nous avec! Fabien Proust à la basse et Geoffrey Riberry à la batterie nous emportent dans des rythmiques endiablées qui font remuer la salle, pendant que Maxime Richard nous envoute avec ses riffs boostés au fuzz! Quatre mois après leur passage inoubliable à Lille, on est ravis de retrouver le trio nantais en terres parisiennes. Le groupe alterne entre morceaux déjà disponibles et un peu de nouveauté issue de leur album à venir, et qu’on attend avec impatience. Chaque titre laisse éclater la maestria des trois musiciens qui s’en donnent à coeur joie devant un public bluffé par l’expérience sonore qui lui est proposée ce soir. Le set file à toute vitesse et chaque titre joué nous montre une facette du heavy psych rock du groupe. A chaque nouveau concert on se dit qu’ils montent en puissance, et celui-ci ne déroge pas à la règle. Maxime remerciera Howard pour l’invitation et le public pour cet accueil si chaleureux avant de se lancer dans les deux derniers titres de leur set. Une fois de plus c’est une déferlante de riffs habités et de rythmiques à tomber qui nous emporte pendant encore quelques minutes, avant un final en apothéose où les trois musiciens donnent tout une dernière fois. Largement applaudis par un public enchanté par la performance, ils quittent la scène visiblement ravis par l’engouement palpable dans la salle.
Petite pause pour prendre l’air dehors puis retour dans une salle très bien remplie pour le début du set de Howard. De petites pyramides stylisées trônes sur le côté de la scène comme un joli décor de scène. Mais on verra vite qu’elles ont bien plus d’utilité, vu que rapidement Raphaël Jeandenand quitte ses claviers pour se servir de la pointe des pyramides comme un thérémine. L’effet est saisissant et nous plonge directement dans l’ambiance électrisante de l’univers du groupe. Evidemment Oscillations est mis en avant, et force est de constater que le rock qui nous affait soufflé sur album prend une dimension encore plus grande en live. Le public ne s’y trompe pas et se lance dans la fête à corps perdu. Jimbo Canoville fait des merveilles aussi bien au micro qu’à la guitare et nous enchante avec sa voix puissante, qui vient rivaliser avec celles des grands noms du rock aussi bien par sa tessiture folle que par cette énergie qui s’en dégage. Les riffs pleuvent et emportent le public dans une danse effrénée. Tom Karren n’est pas en reste derrière les fûts et donne tout pour des rythmiques toujours plus enthousiasmantes. Revenons à Raphaël et ses claviers! Ce dernier subjugue le public avec un jeu hyper versatile qui nous plonge dans les plus belles heures du rock 70’s, avec une touche de modernité qu’on ressent avec plaisir. Les morceaux s’enchaînent et la fête est toujours plus intense, si bien que le groupe invite Decasia sur scène pour une bataille de thérémines puis un slam de Maxime dans la fosse. On voit la sincère camaraderie entre les deux groupes et cela ne fait que renforcer cette belle osmose entre le groupe et son public. On ne voit pas le temps passer et lorsque Jimbo prend le micro pour nous parler plus en détails de l’album on sent que la fin de soirée est proche. L’album parle d’acceptance de soi, de fluidité et de ne jamais se conformer à ce que la société attends de nous. Ces sujets touchent Jimbo qui n’hésite pas à dire que ce sujet lae touche au plus profond de son être, puisqu’il annonce avoir fait son coming-out non binaire. Avec en sa main un drapeau LGBTQUIA+ et plein de petits drapeaux lancés dans la fosse, nous voilà partis sur un titre puissant qui montre que lae chanteur.euse se sent bien dans cette salle et devant son public. Un beau moment de partage qui clôt la soirée de la plus belle des manières, avec une dernière avalanche de riffs, de claviers et de rythmiques endiablées. Le public applaudit longuement Howard avant de foncer vers le merch retrouver la formation pour de belles discussions.
On ne pouvait rêver plus beau lancement d’album pour Howard que cette soirée. Le groupe a prouvé qu’il était clairement un nom à suivre de très prêt dans la scène française et qu’on va vite les voir remplir des salles de plus en plus grandes. En tout cas on espère un passage à Lille très rapidement! On a eu grand plaisir aussi à retrouver Decasia qui ne cessent de nous bluffer avec des sets débordant d’énergie. Une soirée qui restera dans nos meilleurs concerts de l’année!

A quick trip to Paris for a concert we couldn’t possibly miss! Tonight, Howard are holding a release party for their album Oscillations, which came out last March at Petit Bain. To celebrate in style, they’ve invited Decasia to open the show. So, ready for a great night of rock, we head to the banks of the Seine to enjoy what promises to be an unforgettable concert!

The lights go down, the screen at the back of the stage lights up, and Decasia takes to the stage. From the outset, the three musicians immerse us in their psychedelic world, both through their music and the visuals behind them. The trio’s infectious energy captivates the Parisian audience right from the start, and us too! Fabien Proust on bass and Geoffrey Riberry on drums carry us away with frenzied rhythms that get the room moving, while Maxime Richard captivates us with his fuzz-boosted riffs! Four months after their unforgettable performance in Lille, we are delighted to see the Nantes trio back in Paris. The band alternates between already released tracks and a few new ones from their upcoming album, which we are eagerly awaiting. Each track showcases the mastery of the three musicians, who give their all in front of an audience blown away by the sound experience on offer tonight. The set flies by and each track played shows us a different facet of the band’s heavy psych rock. With each new concert, we tell ourselves that they are getting better and better, and this one is no exception. Maxime thanked Howard for the invitation and the audience for their warm welcome before launching into the last two songs of their set. Once again, we were swept away by a wave of powerful riffs and killer rhythms for a few more minutes, before a grand finale in which the three musicians gave it their all one last time. To thunderous applause from an audience enchanted by the performance, they left the stage visibly delighted by the palpable enthusiasm in the room.
A quick break to get some fresh air outside, then back into a packed venue for the start of Howard‘s set. Small stylised pyramids stand proudly at the side of the stage, forming an attractive backdrop. But we soon realise that they serve a much greater purpose, as Raphaël Jeandenand quickly leaves his keyboards to use the tips of the pyramids as a theremin. The effect is striking and plunges us straight into the electrifying atmosphere of the band’s universe. Obviously, Oscillations is highlighted, and it’s clear that the rock that blew us away on the album takes on an even greater dimension live. The audience is not mistaken and throws itself into the party with abandon. Jimbo Canoville works wonders both on the microphone and on the guitar, enchanting us with their powerful voice, which rivals those of the great names of rock both in its incredible range and in the energy it exudes. The riffs rain down and sweep the audience into a frenzied dance. Tom Karren is not to be outdone behind the drums, giving his all for ever more exciting rhythms. Let’s get back to Raphaël and his keyboards! He captivates the audience with his incredibly versatile playing, transporting us back to the golden age of 70s rock, with a delightful touch of modernity. The songs flow one after another and the party gets more and more intense, so much so that the band invites Decasia on stage for a theremin battle, followed by Maxime slam dancing in the pit. We see the sincere camaraderie between the two bands, which only reinforces the beautiful osmosis between the band and its audience. Time flies by, and when Jimbo takes the microphone to tell us more about the album, we sense that the end of the evening is near. The album is about self-acceptance, fluidity and never conforming to what society expects of us. These topics are close to Jimbo‘s heart, and they don’t hesitate to say that this subject touches them deeply, as they announce that they have come out as non-binary. With an LGBTQUIA+ flag in their hand and lots of little flags thrown into the pit, we’re off on a powerful track that shows that the singer feels at home in this venue and in front of their audience. It’s a beautiful moment of sharing that brings the evening to a close in the most wonderful way, with a final avalanche of riffs, keyboards and frenzied rhythms. The audience gives Howard a long round of applause before rushing to the merch stand to meet the band for some great chats.
We couldn’t have dreamed of a better album launch for Howard than this evening. The band proved that they are clearly a name to watch closely on the French scene and that we will soon see them filling bigger and bigger venues. In any case, we hope they will come to Lille very soon! We also had the great pleasure of seeing Decasia again, who never cease to amaze us with their energetic sets. It was an evening that will remain one of our favourite concerts of the year!
