Après un véritable coup de coeur avec son set en 2024 à En Nord Beat, nous voilà en route pour retrouver Jewel Usain au Grand Mix. Le rappeur d’Argenteuil est sur la fin de sa tournée consacrée à son album Où Les Garçons Grandissent mais vient nous reproposer les meilleurs titres du disque en live! Pour ouvrir la soirée, Jungle Jack vient nous présenter son univers qu’on a hâte de découvrir.

C’est dans un club du Grand Mix déjà plein à craquer que Jungle Jack monte sur scène accompagné de deux backeurs et de son DJ. Les samples et prods sont excellents et nous plongent rapidement dans un set qui promet. Le public semble connaître les paroles et c’est donc une ambiance de feu qui se lance d’entrée de jeu. Le rappeur semble d’ailleurs ravi par l’accueil et remercie rapidement le public pour son énergie. Les textes sont ciselés et le flow imparable. Dans la fosse ça chante, ça danse et surtout ça soutient la première partie comme on le voit rarement. Une belle ambiance qui laisse également les backeurs Adam et Blupa briller. L’amitié qui se dégage des interactions entre les trois vocalistes est évidente et nous fait rentrer toujours plus dans leur univers. On avoue être peu familiers de cette scène rap mais on ne peut que profiter pleinement de ce set rempli de morceaux imparables, de couplets débités avec précision et de refrains qui fédèrent la foule présente ce soir. Le set long permet de découvrir une belle partie des morceaux du rappeur, et autant vous dire qu’on ira vite s’y replonger dès la fin du concert. Une bien belle découverte qui montre une belle vitalité de la scène rap actuelle et qui nous donne clairement envie d’en découvrir plus!
Le changement de plateau voit apparaître sur la scène des claviers, une batterie ou encore une basse. On retrouve donc ce qui nous avait marqué lors de notre première rencontre live avec Jewel Usain, un concert live où le talent des musiciens a tout autant sa place que celui du rappeur. La salle est en fusion dès les premières secondes et le rappeur débarque tout sourire pour nous présenter ses morceaux. Emplis d’émotions ses textes viennent nous toucher, nous faire danser et surtout chanter tant les refrains ou gimmicks restent en tête en quelques secondes. Aux claviers on retrouve Béesau qui n’hésitera pas au fil du show à nous montrer également ses talents de trompettiste. Le rappeur est ravi d’être là et nous emporte dans un tourbillon d’énergie brute rendue de manière exponentielle par un public définitivement très en forme ce soir. C’est simple chaque titre est repris en chœur par la fosse au point où deux personnes viendront sur scène nous montrer leur talents. A la basse et à la guitare Antoine Fresson fait des merveilles et sublime les textes du rappeur, et il en est de même pour Dorian Putot à la batterie qui nous bat le rythme avec entrain et nous fait remuer toujours un peu plus fort. Big Nep viendra aussi chanter avec Jewel avec son masque vissé sur le visage. Là aussi l’amitié entre les deux est évidente et cela se ressent dans leur interprétation. L’ambiance est tellement électrique dans la fosse que Jewel Usain n’hésite pas à descendre rejoindre le public pour « Pastille Bleue » où le refrain sera chanté une fois de plus par un membre du public qui avait proposé ses services un peu plus tôt pendant le live. Tout doucement après quelques titres on arrive à la fin du set mais les morceaux viennent encore montrer à quel point le rappeur sait livrer des textes personnels avec un flow diablement efficace. Lorsque le concert se termine les applaudissements résonnent longuement et à raison tant le set de Jewel Usain a livré toutes ses promesses. On salue une fois de plus le travail des musiciens qui ont tout donné ce soir!
On ressort du Grand Mix avec le sourire et ravis d’avoir assisté à cette belle soirée. Autant Jewel Usain que Jungle Jack nous ont montré tout leur talents de rappeurs avec des textes qui nous ont touché et une énergie évidente sur scène. Le public a lui aussi clairement été une composante importante de cette soirée qui nous marquera encore longtemps. On hésitera pas une seconde à aller redécouvrir la musique des deux artistes et à retourner les voir dès que possible!

After falling head over heels for his set at En Nord Beat in 2024, we’re now on our way to see Jewel Usain at Le Grand Mix. The rapper from Argenteuil is nearing the end of his tour promoting his album Où Les Garçons Grandissent, but he’s coming back to perform the best tracks from the album live! Jungle Jack will be opening the evening, introducing us to his world, which we can’t wait to discover.

It is in the Grand Mix club, already packed to the rafters, that Jungle Jack takes to the stage accompanied by two backing singers and his DJ. The samples and productions are excellent and quickly draw us into a promising set. The audience seems to know the lyrics, and so a fiery atmosphere is created right from the start. The rapper seems delighted by the reception and quickly thanks the audience for their energy. The lyrics are finely crafted and the flow is unstoppable. In the pit, people are singing, dancing and, above all, supporting the opening act in a way that is rarely seen. It’s a great atmosphere that also allows backing singers Adam and Blupa to shine. The friendship that emanates from the interactions between the three vocalists is evident and draws us further into their world. We admit to being unfamiliar with this rap scene, but we can’t help but enjoy this set filled with unstoppable tracks, precisely delivered verses and choruses that unite the crowd tonight. The long set allows us to discover a good portion of the rapper’s songs, and suffice to say that we’ll be diving back into them as soon as the concert is over. A wonderful discovery that shows the vitality of the current rap scene and clearly makes us want to discover more!
The change of set sees keyboards, drums and bass appear on stage. We find ourselves back where we were when we first saw Jewel Usain live, at a concert where the musicians’ talent was just as impressive as the rapper’s. The venue is buzzing from the very first seconds and the rapper arrives all smiles to present his songs. Full of emotion, his lyrics touch us, make us dance and, above all, sing along, as the choruses and gimmicks stick in our heads within seconds. On keyboards is Béesau, who doesn’t hesitate to show us his talents as a trumpet player throughout the show. The rapper is delighted to be there and sweeps us up in a whirlwind of raw energy, amplified exponentially by an audience that is definitely on top form tonight. Quite simply, every song is sung along to by the crowd, to the point where two people come on stage to show us their talents. On bass and guitar, Antoine Fresson works wonders and enhances the rapper’s lyrics, as does Dorian Putot on drums, who beats out the rhythm with enthusiasm and makes us move even harder. Big Nep also comes on stage to sing with Jewel, wearing his mask. Here too, the friendship between the two is evident and this comes across in their performance. The atmosphere in the pit is so electric that Jewel Usain doesn’t hesitate to come down and join the audience for ‘Pastille Bleue’, where the chorus is once again sung by a member of the audience who had offered his services earlier during the live show. Slowly but surely, after a few songs, we reach the end of the set, but the tracks continue to show how well the rapper knows how to deliver personal lyrics with a devilishly effective flow. When the concert ends, the applause resounds for a long time, and rightly so, as Jewel Usain‘s set has delivered on all its promises. Once again, we salute the work of the musicians who gave their all tonight!
We left the Grand Mix with smiles on our faces, delighted to have attended such a wonderful evening. Both Jewel Usain and Jungle Jack showed off their rapping talents with lyrics that touched us and obvious energy on stage. The audience was also clearly an important part of this evening, which will remain with us for a long time to come. We won’t hesitate for a second to rediscover the music of these two artists and go back to see them as soon as possible!
