Roaring Tubes investit une nouvelle fois la Bulle Café en ce 15 octobre avec une nouvelle affiche immanquable pour les amateurs de stoner. En effet le groupe Allemand Daevar est de passage dans la capitale de Flandres accompagné de parisiens de Qilin qu’on avait hâte de voir par chez nous depuis la sortie de leur album Parasomnia l’an dernier. C’est donc impatients que nous prenons place devant la scène pour une belle soirée de riffs endiablés.

Un écran trône juste devant la batterie et nous plonge dans l’univers de Qilin avant même leur arrivée sur scène. On regrette un peu que les visuels soient faits à l’IA mais vu ce que le groupe nous réserve on oubliera très vite ce détail. D’entrée les parisiens commencent fort avec « Boros », titre de clôture de leur dernier album en date. L’aventure sonore est totale et les dix minutes du titres passent sans qu’on s’en rende compte. Le silence dans la salle permet de profiter au mieux de la musique de la formation, signe que la sauce prend avec le public lillois. Thomas Vachy et Frédéric Bonneau ont un jeu de guitare habité qui prend encore plus de puissance sur « Lethean Dreams », qu’on avait si hâte d’enfin entendre en live! Le groupe n’hésite pas à quitter son album le plus récent pour d’autres titres plus anciens comme « Harmaket ». Tout au long du set Mathieu Guibert est impérial derrière ses fûts et forme avec Benoît Caillet à la basse un duo de choc qui nous fait remuer la tête à l’envie. Le groupe remercie l’orga et le public pour l’accueil avant de se lancer dans « Tayir Alfiniq » et « Head of Medusa ». Une fois de plus l’envoutement est total tant le stoner doom du groupe est habité par une envie forte de nous faire voyager en musique. Le set se termine sur « Hundred-Handed Wards », morceau qui laisse aux musiciens parisiens une dernière occasion de nous montrer l’étendue de leurs talents respectifs. De beaux riffs et des rythmiques à tombées nous sont servies avant que de larges applaudissements résonnent longuement dans La Bulle Café, ultime preuve que Qilin ont totalement réussi leur prestation ce soir! On avait hâte de voir le groupe et autant vous dire que cette hâte s’est transformée en envie forte de les retrouver sur scène au plus vite tant leur set fut marquant.
Après avoir profité de la magnifique cour de la Bulle Café nous voilà prêts pour Daevar! Le groupe venu de Cologne fait ici son premier passage lillois et le public est venu en nombre pour en profiter. On démarre fort avec « Forgotten Tale », morceau issu de Sub Rosa, leur dernier album en date. Les riffs sont puissants et les rythmiques à vous décoller les cervicales. C’est du stoner doom de haute volée porté par des musicien.ne.s au sommet de leur art. Pardis Lartifi nous enchante aussi bien avec son chant puissant que son jeu de basse à tomber, qu’elle mêle d’ailleurs avec brio aux frappes puissantes de Moritz Ermen Bausch derrière les futs. Côté riffing c’est Caspar Orfgen qui nous en met plein la vue sur des titres comme « Lilith’s Lullaby » ou encore « Caliban and the Witch ». Les fans du groupe sont au anges puisque la formation navigue entre ses différents albums pour proposer un véritable best of de leur discographie. Entre les morceaux les messages passés sont forts et politiques. La chanteuse n’hésite pas en retournant sa basse sur la chanson « Leila » à nous rappeler le combat des femmes iraniennes pour la liberté avec un panneau « Woman Life Freedom » placé derrière son instrument. Le groupe nous envoute totalement et confirme avec « Catcher In The Rye » qu’il marque déjà durablement la scène doom et stoner avec un son digne des pontes du genre. Chaque titre joué est une occasion de plus de se laisser porter par l’énergie du trio qui semble ravi par l’accueil du public lillois. Le chant des sirènes nous fais perdre la raison sur la chanson du même nom avant que « Yellow Queen » annonce déjà la fin proche du concert. Le groupe nous quitte avec l’excellent « Amber Eyes », morceau tiré de l’album éponyme sorti l’an dernier. Une dernière dose de fuzz bien senti et d’un chant captivant nous laissent avec des étoiles dans les yeux et l’envie de retrouver Daevar au plus vite!

Roaring Tubes returns to La Bulle Café on October 15th with a new line-up that stoner fans won’t want to miss. German band Daevar is visiting the capital of Flanders, accompanied by Parisian band Qilin, whom we have been eager to see since the release of their album Parasomnia last year. We eagerly take our places in front of the stage for a wonderful evening of wild riffs.

A screen sits just in front of the drums, immersing us in the world of Qilin even before they take to the stage. It’s a shame that the visuals are AI-generated, but given what the band has in store for us, we quickly forget this minor detail. The Parisian band kicks off with a bang with ‘Boros’, the closing track from their latest album. It’s a total sonic adventure, and the ten minutes of the track fly by without us even noticing. The silence in the room allows us to enjoy the band’s music to the fullest, a sign that the Lille audience is really getting into it. Thomas Vachy and Frédéric Bonneau play guitar with such passion that it becomes even more powerful on ‘Lethean Dreams’, which we were so eager to finally hear live! The band doesn’t hesitate to leave their most recent album behind in favour of older tracks such as ‘Harmaket’. We were eager to see the band, and suffice to say that this eagerness turned into a strong desire to see them on stage again as soon as possible, such was the impact of their set.

The band from Cologne is making its first appearance in Lille, and the audience has turned out in force to enjoy the show. It’s high-quality stoner doom carried by musicians at the top of their game. Pardis Lartifi enchants us with her powerful vocals and her stunning bass playing, which she brilliantly combines with the powerful beats of Moritz Ermen Bausch on the drums. On the riffing side, Caspar Orfgen impresses us on tracks such as ‘Lilith’s Lullaby’ and ‘Caliban and the Witch’. Fans of the band are in heaven as the group navigates between their different albums to offer a veritable best of their discography. Between the songs, the messages conveyed are strong and political. The singer doesn’t hesitate to turn her bass upside down on the song ‘Leila’ to remind us of Iranian women’s fight for freedom with a ‘Woman Life Freedom’ sign placed behind her instrument. The band completely captivates us and confirms with ‘Catcher In The Rye’ that it has already made a lasting mark on the doom and stoner scene with a sound worthy of the genre’s big names. Each song played is another opportunity to let ourselves be carried away by the energy of the trio, who seem delighted by the reception of the Lille audience. The siren song makes us lose our minds on the song of the same name before ‘Yellow Queen’ announces the imminent end of the concert. The band leaves us with the excellent ‘Amber Eyes’, a track from last year’s eponymous album. A final dose of well-placed fuzz and captivating vocals leave us with stars in our eyes and the desire to see Daevar again as soon as possible!
