Le 21 octobre dernier, Billy Society Productions nous donnait rendez-vous à la Bulle Café pour une soirée internationale qui sentait bon le rock et le post punk. Au programme, les canadiens de Computer prêts à nous présenter leur tout nouvel opus sorti il y a quelques jours à peine, et les anglais de Fossick, en full band, pour un live plein d’énergie. Retour sur cette soirée d’une qualité impressionnante.

Malgré une météo capricieuse et une concurrence musicale bien présente dans la métropole ce soir-là, une poignée de curieux et de fidèles se sont retrouvés à la Bulle Café pour découvrir deux groupes internationaux. La soirée s’est ouverte avec Fossick, qui ont littéralement inondé la salle d’une énergie brute et d’une scénographie audacieuse. En effet, sur scène, deux batteries se font face, occupant une large portion de l’espace et annonçant la couleur : ce live ne sera pas conventionnel. Le leader du groupe, habité, ira jusqu’à glisser son micro directement dans sa bouche, oui oui, à l’intérieur, pour pousser l’expérimentation jusqu’à ses limites. L’avant-dernier morceau, particulièrement atmosphérique, a offert un moment suspendu, presque free jazz, où les percussions dialoguaient dans une tension croissante avant d’exploser dans un chaos maîtrisé de guitares triturées et de notes éclatées. Une performance audacieuse, viscérale, qui a su captiver l’audience.

Place ensuite à Computer, dont la formation reste généreuse sur scène. Cette fois, un saxophone vient enrichir la palette sonore, tandis que le claviériste sautille dans tous les sens, incarnant une joie communicative. Les morceaux, eux, sont d’une précision presque chirurgicale : ils commencent et s’achèvent net, sans fioritures, mais avec une efficacité redoutable. Sur l’un des titres, un sample évoquant un moniteur cardiaque vient renforcer l’ambiance clinique et tendue, en parfaite cohérence avec le style du groupe. Impossible de ne pas penser à Black Country, New Road, mais en version plus rock, plus débridée. Un moment inattendu survient lorsque le batteur doit changer de caisse claire en plein set : loin de casser le rythme, cela donne lieu à une petite session jam improvisée, accueillie avec enthousiasme par le public. L’ambiance est électrique, presque euphorique. À la fin du concert, les réactions ne se font pas attendre : « Ah la dinguerie », lâche même un spectateur, résumant parfaitement l’état d’esprit général.

Encore une fois, Billy Society Productions nous prouve qu’ils savent flairer les pépites et créer des soirées mémorables. En réunissant Fossick et Computer à la Bulle Café, l’asso a offert au public une parenthèse musicale intense, audacieuse et résolument internationale. Entre expérimentations sonores, énergie brute et moments suspendus, cette soirée confirme que Billy Society ne cesse de nous surprendre et de faire vibrer la scène locale avec des propositions toujours plus qualitatives. On October 21st, Billy Society Productions invited us to La Bulle Café for an international evening with a rock and post-punk vibe. The line-up included Canadian band Computer, ready to present their brand new album released just a few days earlier, and English band Fossick, performing as a full band for an energetic live show. Here’s a look back at this impressive evening.

Despite unpredictable weather and stiff musical competition in the city that evening, a handful of curious onlookers and loyal fans gathered at La Bulle Café to discover two international bands. The evening kicked off with Fossick, who literally flooded the room with raw energy and bold stage design. On stage, two drum kits faced each other, occupying a large portion of the space and setting the tone: this live show would be anything but conventional. The band’s leader, possessed, went so far as to slip his microphone directly into his mouth, yes, inside, to push the experiment to its limits. The penultimate song, particularly atmospheric, offered a suspended moment, almost free jazz, where the percussion dialogued in growing tension before exploding into a controlled chaos of distorted guitars and bursting notes. A daring, visceral performance that captivated the audience.

Next up is Computer, whose line-up remains generous on stage. This time, a saxophone enriches the sound palette, while the keyboardist jumps around, embodying infectious joy. The tracks themselves are almost surgically precise: they begin and end abruptly, without frills, but with formidable efficiency. On one of the tracks, a sample evoking a heart monitor reinforces the clinical and tense atmosphere, perfectly in keeping with the band’s style. It’s impossible not to think of Black Country, New Road, but in a more rock-oriented, unbridled version. An unexpected moment occurs when the drummer has to change his snare drum in the middle of the set: far from breaking the rhythm, this gives rise to a small improvised jam session, which is enthusiastically welcomed by the audience. The atmosphere is electric, almost euphoric. At the end of the concert, the reactions are immediate: ‘Ah, what madness,’ says one spectator, perfectly summing up the general mood.

Once again, Billy Society Productions proves that they have an eye for talent and know how to create memorable evenings. By bringing Fossick and Computer together at La Bulle Café, the association offered the audience an intense, daring and resolutely international musical interlude. Between sound experiments, raw energy and suspended moments, this evening confirms that Billy Society never ceases to surprise us and to thrill the local scene with ever higher quality offerings.
