Vous vous souvenez, en mai on vous parlait de I Just Want To Be A Sound, le tout nouvel album de Kadavar et ses sonorités étonnantes dans la discographie du groupe allemand. A peine six mois plus tard, et après une tournée dantesque au mois d’octobre, les revoilà avec K.A.D.A.V.A.R! Un tout nouveau disque disponible le 7 novembre prochain via Clouds Hill qui signe un retour aux sources pour le combo.

Dès l’intro de « Lies » on sent que Kadavar ont décidé de nous faire retrouver d’entrée de jeu les riffs percutants à souhait qu’on leur connait et ces influences stoner rock qu’on aime tant. Le groupe ne laisse rien au hasard et nous balance une musique des plus enthousiasmantes d’entrée de jeu. Le son de l’album marque aussi par son côté brut, pas étonnant quand on sait que l’album a entièrement été enregistré de manière analogique et directement sur bandes. Certains titres du disque comme « Lies » ou le très thrashy titre de clôture « Total Annihilation » ont déjà fait leur preuve en date sur la tournée en court et nous en ont mis plein la vue lors du passage des Allemands à l’Aéronef de Lille.
Dans cet album on retrouve même du Paul Verlaine en Français dans le texte sur « Stick It », preuve une fois de plus que la formation veut surprendre avec ce deuxième disque de l’année. Côté thématiques on quitte nos sentiments intérieurs de I Just Want To Be A Sound pour une percée vers le monde extérieur et ce qu’il a de beau et de terrorisant à la fois. Simon Bouteloup et Tiger Bartelt montrent une fois de plus leur puissance rythmique sur un titre comme « Explosions In The Sky », pendant que Lupus Lindemann et Jascha Kreft nous offrent tout au long du disque, et en particulier sur le morceau titre une belle démonstration de leur maestria à la guitare. Evidemment Lupus est également impérial au chant et livre sur ce disque une prestation d’anthologie. Autant vous dire qu’on se demande encore comment le groupe fait pour sortir deux albums aussi différents mais aussi bons l’un que l’autre à quelques mois d’intervalle.
« You Me Apocalypse » ou encore « Heartache » montrent à quel point le groupe excelle et cimente sa place au panthéon du rock avec cette nouvelle sortie. Ce qui est impressionnant c’est à quel point on retrouve l’énergie du live en écoutant ce disque. Chaque titre regorge de moments de bravoure qui ne demandent qu’à rester encrés dans nos têtes pour longtemps. On vous défie de ne pas avoir envie de relancer l’album dès la fin du dernier titre, tant celui-ci laisse une marque indélébile dans l’esprit.
Avec K.A.D.A.V.A.R (KIDS ABANDONING DESTINY AMONG VANITY AND RUIN), les allemands de Kadavar nous sortent une seconde pépite musicale cette année. Bien différent du précédent, il vient rappeler à quel point le quatuor sait composer des titres taillés pour la scène et pour trouver une place de choix dans nos esprits. Une sortie majeure de l’automne qui nous donne envie de retrouver le groupe sur scène au plus vite!

Remember back in May when we told you about I Just Want To Be A Sound, Kadavar’s brand new album with its surprising sounds in the German band’s discography? Barely six months later, and after a gruelling tour in October, they’re back with K.A.D.A.V.A.R! A brand new album available on November 7th via Clouds Hill, marking a return to their roots for the combo.
Right from the intro to ‘Lies’, it’s clear that Kadavar have decided to hit us straight away with the powerful riffs we know and love, along with those stoner rock influences we adore. The band leaves nothing to chance, throwing us into the thick of their thrilling music right from the start. The album’s sound is also notable for its raw quality, which is not surprising given that it was recorded entirely in analogue and directly to tape. Some of the tracks on the album, such as ‘Lies’ and the very thrashy closing track ‘Total Annihilation’, have already proven their worth on the current tour and blew us away when the Germans played at l’Aéronef in Lille.
This album even features Paul Verlaine in French in the lyrics of ‘Stick It’, proving once again that the band wants to surprise us with their second album of the year. Thematically, we leave behind our inner feelings of I Just Want To Be A Sound for a foray into the outside world and all its beauty and terror. Simon Bouteloup and Tiger Bartelt once again demonstrate their rhythmic power on a track like ‘Explosions In The Sky’, while Lupus Lindemann and Jascha Kreft offer us a beautiful demonstration of their guitar mastery throughout the album, and in particular on the title track. Of course, Lupus is also imperial on vocals and delivers an anthological performance on this album. Suffice to say, we’re still wondering how the band managed to release two albums that are so different yet equally good just a few months apart.
‘You Me Apocalypse’ and ‘Heartache’ show just how much the band excels and cements its place in the rock pantheon with this new release. What’s impressive is how much of the live energy comes through when listening to this album. Each track is full of moments of bravura that are sure to remain etched in our minds for a long time to come. We challenge you not to want to play the album again as soon as the last track ends, as it leaves such an indelible mark on the mind.
With K.A.D.A.V.A.R (KIDS ABANDONING DESTINY AMONG VANITY AND RUIN), the Germans of Kadavar have released a second musical gem this year. Very different from the previous one, it reminds us how well the quartet knows how to compose tracks that are tailor-made for the stage and for finding a special place in our minds. A major autumn release that makes us want to see the band live as soon as possible!
