Knuckle Breaker Maxxx, deuxième album de ce projet, est composé de onze titres à écouter dès le 16 janvier 2026 via Yotanka Records et Simone Records.

Knuckle Breaker Maxxx est de ces albums qui vous happent rapidement. On a instantanément la sensation d’être enveloppé, à la fois par les douces mélodies et par la voix grave et délicate de Goodbye Karelle. Son timbre de voix est assez unique. Entre rap chill, indie pop et influences de hip hop old school et d’électro pop posée, les compositions sont intemporelles. On est absorbés par les récits personnels et l’authenticité déposée par l’artiste grâce à ses riches textes, presque exclusivement en anglais. Certains passages en français rythment toutefois l’album, notamment dans “Nice Run Bird” ou “Ken Park”. Le premier est le résultat d’un featuring avec l’artiste Peypo, et le deuxième avec avec Big Balth. L’ensemble de l’opus invite à se poser, avec un rythme lent. Knuckle Breaker Maxxx est un opus qui engendre une forme d’introspection, notamment par le récit personnel de l’artiste, qui nous incite, à la manière d’un effet miroir, à réfléchir sur nous-même. On y entend des sonorités travaillées et variées. Ainsi, certaines évoquent le thérémine sur “Oxyballad”, entre électronique et old school. Un interlude rythme également cet opus, nous amenant toujours dans plus de profondeur et de lenteur. A sa suite, “Come See For Yourself” est un savant mélange de rap alternatif chill et de pop lancinante. Puis “Other Things” nous emmène dans une mélancolie totale, avec une tessiture de voix très grave et un piano très planant. On reprend un peu son souffle avec “Adi”, dans lequel les mélodies et les rythmes se font un peu plus optimistes, donnant cette impression d’une force interne qui pousse à trouver les ressources. 

Toujours en quête de sonorités qui donnent une âme à chaque titre, “Funny People” est construit en deux parties. En effet, dans la seconde moitié de cette plage, l’ambiance se fait plus électro, avec également des effets d’autotune dans la voix. “Ken Park”, évoquant l’amour et les relations, démarre dans une ambiance qui fait penser à certains titres de Billie Eilish avant de partir dans du rap plus moderne avec la présence de Big Balth. On termine cette écoute attentive avec “Moving On” qui nous offre une fin particulièrement pertinente.

Entre sonorités riches, authenticité, et proposition artistique originale, Goodbye Karelle propose un opus accessible et bouleversant à la fois. Au-delà des considérations de style musical, Knuckle Breaker Maxxx n’entre dans aucune case, et on aime ! L’artiste sera de passage au Point Ephémère à Paris le 22 janvier, ainsi qu’à Nantes le 21.

The artist Goodbye Karelle, a musical project by Karelle Tremblay, first known for her film roles in Quebec, is back with a personal and poignant album. Knuckle Breaker Maxxx, the second album from this project, features eleven tracks and will be available on January 16th 2026, via Yotanka Records and Simone Records.

Knuckle Breaker Maxxx is one of those albums that quickly draws you in. You instantly feel enveloped by the soft melodies and Goodbye Karelle‘s deep, delicate voice. Her tone is quite unique. Between chill rap, indie pop, old-school hip hop influences, and laid-back electro pop, the compositions are timeless. We are absorbed by the personal stories and authenticity conveyed by the artist through her rich lyrics, almost exclusively in English. However, some passages in French punctuate the album, notably in “Nice Run Bird” and “Ken Park.” The first is the result of a collaboration with the artist Peypo, and the second with Big Balth. The whole opus invites us to sit back and relax, with its slow rhythm. Knuckle Breaker Maxxx is an opus that encourages introspection, particularly through the artist’s personal narrative, which, like a mirror effect, prompts us to reflect on ourselves. The album features sophisticated and varied sounds. Some evoke the theremin on “Oxyballad,” somewhere between electronic and old school. An interlude also punctuates this opus, taking us ever deeper and slower. Following on from this, “Come See For Yourself” is a clever mix of chill alternative rap and haunting pop. Then “Other Things” takes us into total melancholy, with a very deep vocal range and a dreamy piano. We catch our breath a little with “Adi,” in which the melodies and rhythms are a little more optimistic, giving the impression of an inner strength that pushes us to find our resources.

Always searching for sounds that give each track soul, “Funny People” is constructed in two parts. In the second half of this track, the atmosphere becomes more electro, with autotune effects on the vocals. “Ken Park,” which evokes love and relationships, starts off with a vibe reminiscent of certain Billie Eilish tracks before moving into more modern rap with the presence of Big Balth. We end this attentive listening session with “Moving On,” which offers us a particularly relevant ending.

With its rich sounds, authenticity, and original artistic vision, Goodbye Karelle offers an album that is both accessible and deeply moving. Beyond considerations of musical style, Knuckle Breaker Maxxx defies categorization, and we love it.
