Après un premier album en 2018 et un EP en 2019, voici enfin l’heure du retour de Dirty Rodeo sur le devant de la scène! Le groupe de Limoges nous propose de découvrir At Least We Try, son nouvel opus fruit de quatre années de travail acharné. Disponible dès le 13 février via En Soirée Je Danse Pas, ce nouveau disque propose un mélange habile entre post hardcore, pop et rock pour une déferlante musicale du plus bel effet.

Dès le premier titre le duo nous en met plein les esgourdes avec un musique énergique à souhait. Entre les riffs puissants de Polo, les rythmiques de batterie emplies d’énergie d’Alex et ce refrain entêtant on a une ouverture d’album des plus réussies pour entrer dans l’univers de Dirty Rodeo. On sent l’envie des deux musicien limougeauds de proposer une musique où pop et post hardcore se mêlent avec brio. Leur duo autant musical que vocal nous envoie des morceaux véritables pépites rock qui allient le meilleur de ce que les groupes modernes peuvent donner tout en conservant cette passion pour les formations plus anciennes. C’est très réussi et un titre comme « Smiling And Starving » le démontre bien, tout comme l’excellent « We Were So Sad Before » qui nous offre de beaux moments d’un post hardcore teinté d’émo. Le groupe excelle et nous donne son meilleur avec toujours cette énergie débordante. C’est simple ils sont deux, mais on dirait qu’ils sont quatre ou cinq tant les titres offrent de variété musicale. Le duo a mis du temps à préparer cet album et cela se ressent tant le son est travaillé et taillé pour nous offrir une expérience la plus proche du live possible. Les lignes de chant très post hardcore et rappelant à quelques moments des groupes comme Birds In Row nous enchantent tout comme les gangs vocals (à deux) sur « Give Me A Sign ». Le morceau suivant est une pure décharge d’énergie une fois de plus, et nous offre également ce mélange des genres toujours habile et innovant. La fin d’album offre au groupe l’occasion de nous proposer deux dernies titres surprenants à souhait. Entre le très varié « Summer » qui navigue encore en eaux troubles côté genre musical et l’émouvant et instrumental « When The Silence Starts To Talk » où Aki Agora vient poser ses claviers, machines et autres cordes électriques pour une fin en apothéose.
On peut clairement dire que Dirty Rodeo ont fait bien plus qu’essayer avec ce At Least We Try. Le groupe de Limoges offre un album surprenant, rock à souhait et qui saura plaire à un large public. On s’est pris une véritable claque à l’écoute et sait que chaque écoute nous proposera de nouvelles choses tant l’album regorge d’idées de composition. Un immanquable du mois, et même de l’année qui nous laisse avec l’envie forte de voir le groupe en live au plus vite!

The Limoges-based band invites us to discover At Least We Try, their new album, the result of four years of hard work. Available from 13th February via En Soirée Je Danse Pas, this new record offers a skilful blend of post-hardcore, pop and rock for a musical wave of the most beautiful effect.
From the very first track, the duo blows us away with their energetic music. Between Polo‘s powerful riffs, Alex‘s energetic drumming and the catchy chorus, this is a highly successful opening track that draws us into the world of Dirty Rodeo. You can feel the desire of these two musicians from Limoges to create music that brilliantly blends pop and post-hardcore. Their musical and vocal duo delivers rock gems that combine the best of what modern bands have to offer while retaining a passion for older bands. It’s very successful, as demonstrated by tracks such as ‘Smiling And Starving’ and the excellent ‘We Were So Sad Before’, which offers beautiful moments of emo-tinged post-hardcore. The band excels and gives us their best with their usual boundless energy. There are only two of them, but they sound like four or five, such is the musical variety on offer. The duo took their time preparing this album, and it shows in the polished sound, tailored to give us an experience as close to live as possible.The very post-hardcore vocal lines, reminiscent at times of bands like Birds In Row, enchant us, as do the gang vocals (duet) on ‘Give Me A Sign’. The next track is once again a pure burst of energy, offering us the same skilful and innovative mix of genres. The end of the album gives the band the opportunity to offer us two final tracks that are as surprising as you could wish for. Between the highly varied ‘Summer’, which still navigates troubled waters in terms of musical genre, and the moving instrumental ‘When The Silence Starts To Talk’, where Aki Agora brings her keyboards, machines and other electric strings to the fore for a grand finale.
It’s clear that Dirty Rodeo have done much more than just try with At Least We Try. The Limoges-based band offers a surprising album, rocking to perfection and sure to appeal to a wide audience. We were blown away when we listened to it and know that each listen will reveal something new, as the album is brimming with compositional ideas. It’s a must-have for the month, and even the year, leaving us with a strong desire to see the band live as soon as possible!
