Direction Tulle pour y découvrir le troisième volet de la trilogie d’Ingrina. Le groupe vient présenter le successeur de Etter Lys et Siste Lys, cinq ans après la sortie de l’opus précédent. Leur post métal atmosphérique nous a toujours bluffé et c’est avec une grande joie que nous plongeons dans Nåværende Lys, disponible dès le 13 février via Medication Time Records et À Tant Rêver Du Roi. Pour ce disque le groupe a choisi de ne rien révéler en amont de sa sortie, ni clip ni single, pour proposer une aventure totale et complète à la sortie de ce nouvel opus.

Après un disque évoquant une colonisation totale de formes de vies puis un second nous narrant leur enfermement et l’envie de s’échapper, ce disque vient nous conter la fin de l’histoire avec leur évasion de ces barrières qui les enfermaient et leur prolifération sans entrave. Ce récit métaphorique est parfaitement mis en musique dès le premier titre « Time » où on sent cette urgence d’une évasion proche. Le groupe prends les codes du post métal actuel et les tords une fois de plus avec par exemple ces voix lointaines comme volontairement mis en retrait, mais qui savent prendre plus de place quand il le faut. Ce qui peut être étonnant quand on sait que littéralement tout le groupe donne de la voix tout au long du disque. Les napes de guitares et les riffs de Florian Compain, Nicolas Guerrier et Antonin Le Coz sur « Out » par exemple viennent vous en mettre plein la vue avec cette évolution constante des sonorités proposées. On passe de post métal à post hardcore sans effort le tout avec cette capacité d’émouvoir en quelques instants. Les morceaux prennent le temps pour nous proposer une aventure musicale des plus riches. On sent que l’histoire contée se développe morceau après morceau et ça n’est pas le magnifique « Loosen » qui nous fera changer d’avis sur le talent de la formation. Le duo rythmique formé par Adrien Delpeuch à la basse et Raphael Durand à la batterie nous offre des lignes enthousiasmantes à souhait, entre énergie brute et moments plus posés et envoutants. L’expérimentation du groupe trouve évidemment son apogée dans le titre « Laws » où le groupe nous propose des sonorités plus électroniques qui viennent parfaitement s’ajouter à leur musique déjà si emprunte de majesté. L’album se clôt sur « And All The Deadly Frontiers », morceau qui résume parfaitement cet album du groupe avec tout ce qui nous a fait vibrer tout au long de l’écoute, et toujours avec cette identité sonore si forte qui nous émerveille à chaque instant.
Ingrina nous proposent avec Nåværende Lys une parfaite clôture à une trilogie d’albums de haute volée. La musique du quintet de Tulle vous prends aux tripes tout au long de l’écoute en proposant un son unique loin des habitudes du genre. Que dire à part que la proposition vient se poser haut dans la liste de ce qu’on a pu écouter de meilleur cette année, et que rares seront les albums du genre à pouvoir rivaliser. Une bien belle sortie d’un groupe définitivement en dehors des sentiers battus.

Head to Tulle to discover the third instalment of Ingrina’s trilogy. The band is presenting the follow-up to Etter Lys and Siste Lys, five years after the release of their previous opus. Their atmospheric post-metal has always blown us away, and it is with great joy that we dive into Nåværende Lys, available from February 13th via Medication Time Records and À Tant Rêver Du Roi. For this album, the band has chosen not to reveal anything ahead of its release, no video clips or singles, in order to offer a total and complete adventure when this new opus is released.

After an album evoking the total colonisation of life forms, followed by a second recounting their confinement and desire to escape, this album tells us the end of the story with their escape from the barriers that imprisoned them and their unhindered proliferation. This metaphorical narrative is perfectly set to music from the very first track, ‘Time’, where we feel the urgency of an imminent escape. The band takes the codes of current post-metal and twists them once again, for example with distant vocals that seem deliberately subdued but know how to take centre stage when necessary. This may be surprising when you consider that literally the whole band sings throughout the album. The layers of guitars and riffs by Florian Compain, Nicolas Guerrier and Antonin Le Coz on ‘Out’, for example, are sure to impress with their constantly evolving sounds. The band moves effortlessly from post-metal to post-hardcore, all with the ability to move the listener in a matter of moments. The tracks take their time to offer us a rich musical adventure. We feel that the story being told develops track by track, and the magnificent ‘Loosen’ does nothing to change our opinion of the band’s talent. The rhythm section formed by Adrien Delpeuch on bass and Raphael Durand on drums offers us exciting lines, ranging from raw energy to more subdued and captivating moments. The band’s experimentation obviously reaches its peak in the track ‘Laws’, where they offer us more electronic sounds that perfectly complement their already majestic music. The album closes with ‘And All The Deadly Frontiers’, a track that perfectly sums up this album by the band with everything that has thrilled us throughout, and always with that strong sonic identity that amazes us at every moment.
With Nåværende Lys, Ingrina offers us the perfect conclusion to a trilogy of high-quality albums. The music of the quintet from Tulle grabs you by the gut throughout, offering a unique sound that is far removed from the usual conventions of the genre. What can we say except that this release ranks high on the list of the best we’ve heard this year, and that few albums of this kind will be able to compete. A beautiful release from a band that is definitely off the beaten track.
